Joe mocked Trump when he said that Michelle Obama got the death count wrong from the virus. There were 22,000 more deaths.

There was no mention of why Michelle Obama didn't mention Kamala Harris in her speech.  It may have been taped before Biden picked Kamala.

Willie said that on primary day in New Hampshire, Biden appeared on Morning Joe & was sad that he would finish in 5th place,

Biden was very quiet. Joe discussed his long time friendship with Joe Biden . They used to talk a lot, but were quiet that day.

Joe complained about NH  & Iowa being too white to hold the first primary & caucus.

Joe said he feels bad for every one that loses primaries. Joe said he never experienced losing a congressional race since he was so popular.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but "Muss-go" is probably an aternative/cool way to say it that most people don't know.  Like Dick Cheeney.  Also, Mika thinks that "Scarborough" is pronounced "Scar-bur-oh", unlike how it is truly pronounced--"Douche-Bro"

Mika & Joe were very nice to Jill Biden. Joe asked Dr Jill a question about Joe's catholic faith which helped him deal with grief.

Mika mentioned that she has known Dr Jill for a long time & is grateful that they are willing to go back to Washington for 4 years.

Mika was excited that Dr Jill will resume teaching online after they are in the White House.

Joe was very happy that Colin Powell & other Republicans spoke on behalf of Joe Biden. Joe said they are well respected statesmen who will help convince other Republicans to vote for Biden.

Willie said people are tired of waking up to Trump's tweets every day.

Willie loved the role call with the guy from Rhode Island who had a plate of calamari. Willie said other states should have food during the role call.

Mika was worried about fried calamari having too many calories.

Joe said future conventions may be online.

Willie says that Kamala Harris prosecuted the case against Donald Trump.  Shawna Thomas of Quibbi is very inspired by the impact of Harris on Indian and Black voters. I believe that  Shawna is a fresh face on this show.  She is a young Black lady  in her 20's or 30's, which is welcome change from the collection of old time Washington lifers who drink cocktails with JoMika.

Mika cut off Shawna's praise of Kamala to show a clip of Barack Obama.  Nice, Mika.

I am surprised that Joe is absent again. It's a very important week for the country's political process & Joe is AWOL. Was Joe afraid that he might have to compliment President Obama & Senator Harris's speeches?

I am sure that Joe will be around next week to criticize & mock virtually every speaker at next week's RNC convention.

He's writing an editorial for WaPo with his own speech because he cannot stand to be upstaged by a beloved former President and the Dem nominee for Vice President.   He recorded their speeches and will be combining them into his editorial entitled "Hey Look At Me! I'm Still Relevant!"

I would pay actual money to see Joe interview the My Pillow guy.

I wanna be fair so aside from the depression-factor I thought Mika did a good job. She read fluently, she didn't stumble, she asked good relevant questions and they weren't prefaced by rambly preambles. You could tell she had done her homework. That's really all we ask. I still think she could be a bit more welcoming to guests, that's one of the slightly endearing-ish aspects of Joe's otherwise annoying Southernness, he's friendly.

I'm still confused about the black shirt thing. Why don't the producers point out to her that some day they'll do an anniversary retrospective with clips from previous shows and all the clips will be indistinguishable? Or she'll win an award and the congratulatory montage will look like all her best moments happened on the same day? Or they'll run one of those "every time we warned about Russia" or "the many times we said X" montages but it won't look like many times at all, because they'll look identical. Why would one want that effect on a daily morning show?

There must be a way to both fight sexism and keep things dynamic over time and not put oneself so much at a disadvantage in other ways. I think someone upthread mentioned Elizabeth Warren, and that's a great example. She had this cardigan thing that no living human would ever describe as beautiful or sexy but she had it it like 10 bright colors so you could see her on stage and when they ran montages of all of her many, many rallies it did indeed look like many, many rallies and not just one. It can be done

Speaking of people who will be convention speakers next week for the GOP, I read that Patricia & Mark McCloskey, the couple who wielded guns at Black Lives Matter protesters in St. Louis, will have convention speaking roles.  In June, video was captured of the couple pointing guns at peaceful protesters walking past their home to get to the St. Louis mayor's residence.  What a lineup compared to the Democrats this week.  It'll be interesting to hear what Joe & Mika have to say about this group.

It was also a little bit awkward that all the women attending the convention, and most female journalists were wearing suffragette white to honor Kamala Harris, the first black female vice presidential nominee. It seemed like sort of a weird statement to do the exact opposite, idk?  It was a historic morning by all accounts

I will say that I'll tune in for Antonio Sabato, Jr. because he is still cute.

Joe is mad that Trump gave a speech in the Scranton, Pennsylvania area yesterday because the president was in Biden's home state.  Joe said Trump insulted Biden.  Isn't that what politicians do?  Has Joe ever watched a debate in any presidential race?  Or even a tape of his own show.

I am confused by Joe's expectation that everyone in politics is going to play nice, especially given his own love of insult "comedy."

I haven’t watched in a long time but have the show on today. Does Mika regularly blurt stuff out loud but under her breath, talking over people and making everything that’s being said unintelligible? Joe’s always done that, but Mika seemed to talk through most of what was said in the first 30 minutes.  What’s up with that?

Joe is very excited about Biden's speech. He called it Reaganesque & will attract many Republican voters.

Heilmann said it was Biden's best speech in his career. There were no gaffes.

Katty Kay wore black in sympathy with Mika.

Mka wore a blue top with a black cardigan.

I am amazed that Joe can't go more than 1 minute without mentioning Donald Trump.

Can you imagine what this show will be like during a Biden presidency ? Joe will keep talking about Trump.

Mika called Joe , "My Joe"

Mika is worried about Fox News viewers not having a good opinion about Biden.

Joe was happy that Fox News praised Biden's speech.

This isn't really her fault, though. When she used to co-host it was appropriate to respond in the moment to things people said. It only seems odd now because the producers made Joe the main host and moved her off-screen for most of the show.

Nah, I don't agree. She looked great to me. I was only making fun of the possibly not quite thought through, slightly superficial black-shirt gimmick, but otherwise she's a fucking fantastic journalist, I respect the hell out of her. There was literally some convo this week about foreign policy where I was thinking where the hell is Katty Kay. I'm glad she's back. YMMV of course.

David Ignatius is on the show to talk about his latest WaPo op-ed "Hard Evidence that Shreds Trump's lies about the Russia Hoax." He also brings up the Ukraine.  I feel like I am watching a rerun from one year ago.  Joe is excited that he and David can fluff each other over their WaPo op-eds.

Joe says a CBS poll shows a 10 point lead for Joe Biden over Trump in a national poll.  Joe told Kasey Hunt what she is supposed to say about Joe Biden.  Breaking news: People who say they don't like Trump will vote for Biden.  Thanks, Captain Obvious.

Joe says Joe Biden has a 7 point or more lead in every battleground state.  But the last poll Joe showed had only a 2 point lead.  I guess Joe can't be expected to proofread his materials before he puts this on TV.

Joe loves living in the past doesn't he.   He doesn't do a very good job hosting by himself, he needs Willie to keep things moving and to articulate thoughts clearly. Mika is just a hysterical loon unless she's moon eyeing her Joe's "brilliant" comments, and Joe is so full of himself and how he is the only person to save the nation.
