I was just blinking awake when it was on and when I saw the diffuse filters added to the video's scenes and the slow romantic wipe cuts, and then turned it up to hear the music, I was like, 'I can name this abomination in 2 notes, Alex," and [then laughed at myself] and muted it.  I knew in a second that it was Joe's own fucking song played over treacly images of protests.  It's hard to believe they really did that.  Like that is going to elicit emotions from the likes of us.  They don't know their audience.

You are correct. The longer I think about it, the stranger her not being there today gets. Mika did love nothing more than this story for f-in' weeks. I didn't even hear him say "Mika is off today". I was in the kitchen but I can hear the tv from there pretty well.  They set up remotes every other damn time they aren't in NY, why not today? 

I find it interesting that in the media the "is she credible or not" lines seem to be men - no, women yes.

Agreed.  I think Avenatti knew that the Monday morning response would be "is that all there is?"  Which is why he tweeted some caveats before the interview aired, basically saying don't get too excited.  I think there's more stuff to follow.  Avenatti is a shark.

That instagram video of her, if you look at the still image before it starts you can tell even in black and white her eyes look blurry.  and the lines around her eyes are very prominent like she had been rubbing them a lot or something. 

She should have never taken that money from Joe back in the day, that made her his property.  It made her feel beholden to him from that day forward.

My guess is that Joe is still at his vacation location (Florida?), and Mika joined him over the weekend. Since they don't seem to do joint bunker appearances, one of them had to take the day off, and since Joe was off all of last week and Mika worked, they reversed roles for today.

Of course, I could be totally wrong, and maybe they have broken up, but I tend to doubt it.

I hate to be shallow here...Meek's eyeliner has been discussed.  But.  Does she have a receding hairline?  A LOT of forehead there.  And I don't think they have had a spat ...it is just that she is not used to working five days a week.  That kind of stuff is for the masses...that is now how Meek-a and Joe roll.

Mr. Kemper was in the shower when I tuned in to MJ this morning.  This was when they were playing "the song" and showing the video..it was maybe near 7.  Was that the first time they played it?  Because even half asleep I figured this was his own composition and his "voice"...caterwauling.  I shrieked for Mr. Kemper to come listen/look.  He paid no attention but lucky him...they played it again - maybe at the end of the show?

On a serious note, I am actually surprised Joe was so reluctant to understand how a woman would be intimidated by threats of varying degrees. He said he and Mika were blackmailed by Trump's people regarding their affair -- he should have a personal, intimate understanding of how Trump's people work in those regards and how upsetting it can be. It was reported he traded info (i.e. paid off, but with gossip rather than money) some tabloid/s to not run stories about their affair because Mika was so upset -- so, again, another instance where he should personally, intimately understand how this game hurts people and makes them do whatever, even if it does involve not telling the truth in order to not hurt people you love.

Exactly. Joe doesn't understand how sometimes you pick your battles. But then when it came out anyway and everyone started trashing her, she got pissed off and decided "enough. I'm going to tell the story so everyone knows what really happened.". 

I think she comes across credible, and seems like a very cool person.  

I cannot believe Mika wasn't on the show and Avenati was on. I didn't know that til I saw a clip on another site.  The day after the interview AND Avenati is back, and no MIka?

Joe's had too many on air collisions with the PM shift.  I get Olbermann as even though I love him he is a handful and is known for also not playing well in a group but his spats with Rachel were foolish/boorish.  MSNBC's ratings are for the most part up across the board.  I wonder if MJ's keep pace with the rest of the team.

That is very insightful. Trump tweeted about Mika & Joe in the summer of 2016. He called Mika very insecur girlfriend. This happened before they went public.

If I was at MSNBC and Joe & Mika weren't on the show at the same time, I'd halve both their salaries, explaining that they can't invest so much into one family because the inclination is to stop working hard.  MSNBC is paying $14 million (Joe gets $11 and Mika $3, right?) for one person to work weekly, yet the family still brings in $14 million by actually doing 50% of the work.
They are WAY too comfortable in their roles as gab faces.  They should be on the show daily, produce the show, and sit in on other shows (they shouldn't, they suck: Joe got kicked off of Chuck Todd's Sunday show - bitter party of one) and they should earn those millions.  And if they won't, pay my girl (who is already a millionaire) Stephanie Ruhle millions and let her kick television's ass for the next 10 years.  Stephanie will outlive Trump and will still produce great work.  J'meeka won't.  J'meeking me crazy.

Two things:

1) I actually like the music for Joe's songs much better than the lyrics. I find the music for a lot (but not all) of his songs to be quite catchy (this is subjective, of course). But, I find the lyrics to be very amateur-ish.

2) He really is over-doing playing this song on  his show. If they played a 30 second snippet, it would not be so bad. But, with both the womens march video, and today, they played it from start to finish, and then played it a second time later in the same show (I don't know if the played the entire song for the second time today, because as soon as it started at the end of the show, I turned the TV off).

The last salary estimate I read was $8M for Joe & $4M for Mika. This does not include bonuses. The show is bringing in over $30M in ad revenue which is a big boost from the Pre-Trump era. I agree that Mika & Joe are "phoning it in". However, they still have a brand, so MSNBC will keep them  past the 2018 mid terms & for the 2020 election. If Trump is re elected, Mika & Joe will freak out & probably quit.

In the event that Mika & Joe quit or their contract is not renewed, I wonder who MSNBC would replace them with ? Velshi & Ruhle have good chemistry.

Joe is still lugging around those steamer trunks under his eyes.  He's also not taking off his glasses, under the misguided impression that he's hiding them behind the lenses.  Guess what, Joe:  You can see out, therefore we can see in.   But he's not acting heartbroken, so should we chalk it all up to allergies? 

It really frosts my butt that we're on the second or third week of those two apparently not being able to be in the same room together - or even on the same screen, considering Joe's always in the bunker.  And didn't he say yesterday, by way of explaining Mika's absence, that she was on a "well-deserved vacation"?  That's a bit odd; wouldn't the lovebirds vacation together?  I'm really beginning to think there IS trouble is paradise.

It's possible that Joe could get caught by the #metoo movement or one of his ex wives gets fed up with him & tells the public how he cheated on them  & if he verbally abused them. There was a situation in Ontario recently, when the leader of the province's opposition party had to resign for dating under age girls. The reporter covering the issue was smug & mocked the leader. A former colleague of the reporter called him out on twitter for exposing himself to her in 2006 & he was fired.

It's hilarious that Joe is demanding that Flake & Corker attack Trump's agenda since they are retiring. Did Joe stand up to George W Bush? Joe never had the deciding vote in any administration . It's possible that Flake & Corker have post political lobbying jobs that depend on the GOP staying in power. They wouldn't want to hurt their future clients.

It would be so nice to see this replaced with younger, peppier and diverse people from the anchors on down.

Joe's ranting with Richard Haas to get two senators to stand up to trump (mainly Corker and Flake) is laughable.  Why should retirement change there pathetic minds.

Joe mocked Trump for not fighting back against Stormy Daniels & Vladimir Putin.

There was a long discussion about lawyers not wanting to represent Trump. He doesn't pay bills. & won't listen to lawyers.

Digenova looked dishevelled when he met Trump. There were conflicts of interest.

Meacham is excited about redistricting in Pennsylvania. It will be less gerrymandered & help the Democrats.

Meecham said that the GOP made a deal with Trump in exchange for power. They ended up with tax reform & a Supreme Court Justice. The GOP will be doomed in 2018.

It's not clear that Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio or John Kasich would have beaten Hilary Clinton in the midwest. Was there any polling done to that effect?
