S08.E06: Dorothy and David & Doris

Recommended Posts

I just started watching, but why don't they just tuck Dorothy into bed and just get rid of all her stuff? She's so frail it's not like she's going to out and fill the house up. She can barely move.

I'm surprised no one mentioned that Dorothy was high as a kite, presumably from all the pain meds she must take. I think she'd like to start hoarding again but may be too debilitated, and her husband might be able to stop it from happening. Her daughter and granddaughters were lovely.

Doris also had lovely daughters willing to help. I'm glad she finally told them she didn't blame then for being born. Having an angry mother must have been difficult for them. And that poor house!

You guys are brave. My eyes are closed during at least 40% of the episodes.  Did Doris actually say something about a macrame rat design? or was I having a 60's flashback?

I don't know why APS was not called by the mandated reporters and Dorothy's house was not condemned.

It wasn't Doris.  It was Dorothy.  She told Matt she wanted to keep the Rat and incorporate it into some macrame and then went off on some bizarre rant that made no sense.

Hoarders have been known to commit suicide if their stuff is forcibly taken away from them. It's a mental illness that has to be treated carefully.

They all look like they're going to a picnic instead of into hip-high hazardous waste.  Saint Dorothy, the organizer, usually wears very short shorts and their hair is often loose needing constant brushing back with germy hands.  The beautiful Dr. Green has toned down her eyeshadow but she's always fully accessorized with scarves and jewelry.  I would want to go home and strip down in the garage, burning everything I was wearing.

It was some nonsense about making the dead rat an artwork.  I've noticed that a lot of hoarders have art projects that never seem to get off the ground, literally and figuratively.    They also like to say that garbage can be used by students for art....egg cartons, milk jugs, etc....any excuse to keep it.

Maggots in the toilet was a new one for me.  **SHUDDER**

There was a frog in one of the episodes last night.  I was hoping they'd explain how it got there.

It was a probably a good deal at a flea market.

"You can get rid of that....potato there". "You mean that empty can of Pringles?" Dorothy is a pistol.

Doris on the other hand was very slow witted and seemed mean to her children. How do you get maggots in a toilet? Wouldn't they drown in the poo water? Why would a fly Lay eggs in liquid?

The rat was huge. The whiskers in that thing were impressive. No wonder Dorothy wanted to make a macrame art installation entitled "you dirty rat" with it.

Isn't this the description of every episode? Easy job for the blurb writer at A+E!

"Woman or Man lives in house full of potential art projects that look suspiciously like junk"

According to Matt Paxton on Facebook, she kept that rat - refused to part with it.

I used to chat with him on the A&E message page, he was such a neat guy.  Happy he is still with the show.  I often thought he was a better therapist than the therapist.  He has the patience of Job, but with a no-nonsense twist.
