I think the betrayal is Bellamy goes to rescue Clarke and sees her dressed as a Grounder and helping them. Clarke thinks they are all Grounders, while Bellamy like most of them think of themselves as separate. That puts them on different sides of the coming war especially when we see Clarke having gone full Grounder complete with the make up and maybe given a higher position among them.

Why are spoiler texting things in the spoiler thread? Eh, not sure about Lexa being alive, the hints we had in the premiere made it seem like the  City of Light is a mental state/trip induced by ALIE, hence the "modern' city, a happy Jasper eating ice cream, and potentially Clark being reunited with a maybe dead Lexa.

I suppose that if it is a spoiler (or considered spoiler), it can be discussed and posted here.  Unless that's not what you're asking blixie, in which case PM me and we'll figure it out.

I'm glad that it looks like Jasper isn't going to die (at least as far as we can tell).  I've developed a fondness for him and Monty.

I think those finale spoilers make it seem that it's Jasper who is dead and Lexa who is alive, mostly just because of their clothes. Jasper is clearly wearing modern clothes we've never seen him in before while Lexa is decked out in her grounder outfit. Also, Lexa seems to actually interact with Clarke unlike Jasper.

Link to comment

I think the finale photos are from the City of Lights which is mostly likely a simulation/dream of some sort, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. So it doesn't mean Lexa's alive, etc.

Clarke is in her season 2 clothes which is really weird.

Since this is the spoiler thread, I have to ask if anyone knows what it is that is happening the in fourth ep of the season that has critics who have seen the first four so unhappy. (The three critics I follow on Twitter who got me into the show in the first place have all made very ominous noises about it--you can hear two of them discuss without details here.) I'm normally not that into being spoiled about this show, but just the sound of it has seriously killed my buzz for the season and I'd like to prepare myself / decide whether I want to bother watching until whatever it is is resolved.

Ugh I think given the old character/new character bit means they are fucking over Bellamy. The sizzle reel had shots of some rando guy seeming to influence him vis a vis the Grounders. OTOH I can see making a point that Bellamy was always a problematic character and leader and it was only Clarke who kept him good or rational but MEH. Hopefully I am wrong and it has to do with Murphy and ALIE.

Yeah, the reason I'm fairly certain it's Bellamy (and Pike is the new guy), is that in Ryan's review, he said that there are sort of three stories: one he likes a lot, which is very Lord of the Rings--seemingly Clarke meeting the Ice People; two feels borrowed from a specific Star Trek film, that he is unsure about for now (Murphy and ALIE, I think), and the third that is just bad. If Mo feels like Bellamy might be ruined permanently (and Octavia tells him he's dead to her) then I really shudder to think what he might have done.

And isn't there a shot of a whole field of dead Grounders? If it is being compared to Finn but going bigger and further? Fuck this show and the writer who hates shippers so much he is willing to not only destroy any possibility of Bellarke but utterly destroy literally the only reason I bothered sticking with his hack ass show through a rough s1, aka the sibling relationship between the Blakes? Bye. Like Mo and Ryan said they will have to nip it in the bud quickly or risk becoming an ever escalating bit of torture porn pawned off as morally complicated even when they did not do the work to earn it.

Yep, and I think the show wrapped filming for the season yesterday, so they didn't have time to adjust based on feedback at all. Could have been some internal feedback that helps right that storyline, but I'm nervous about it.

I'll offer some hopefully friendly advice: the critics have only seen 4 episodes out of 16 (I think it's 16). For all we, and they know, this third storyline that has them worried could be resolved in a satisfactory way. I'd say we all should give the writers the benefit of the doubt until we see where this season ends. No need to rush to judgement about any character's arch just yet.

(I'm gleefully looking forward to learning more about the Grounders though, ngl).

Why should I do that? I mean  I'm going to watch and judge for myself, but in terms of resolution,  I think the point of these two reviewers reactions is that the only way to resolve this satisfactorily is to drop it entirely and then pretend it never happened (they both compare it to Kalinda's Husband on The Good Wife, and that was the way that storyline was handled) in the process Kalinda and Cary were robbed of any storyline at all. So Bellamy, being my favorite character and all either A) is destroyed beyond all continuing story type redemption or B) utterly shortchanged of an interesting and viable storyline.

Now I'm pretty easy I can tolerate a pretty scandalous amount of awfulness from my characters and still enjoy them and believe in their value/redemption, like I'm pulling for Kylo Ren, so I can probably roll with what every Bellamy does, but if the whole point is to make Bellamy do something GENOCIDE like horrible just to make him even with Clarke (when he was already a participant in that genocide decision, so now he has TWO genocides on his record) only them to have him forgiven AGAIN, IDK, he's traversed this ground already, he'll pretty much have to die to make up for it, which I'm sure is Rothman's plan. I've heard more than enough out of his annoying mouth to be wary of any creative choice he makes about Bellamy.

I agree with this. I think she sees many people in the simulation including Lexa whom has died in the real world.

I don't know, man. Octavia's rage at Bellamy plus the news about Ricky Whittle getting the lead role in American Gods has me pretty worried about two of my favorite characters. (I mean this show is full of awesome characters, so that still still leaves three other favorites for me, but...I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed that things don't go as badly as I fear they might.)

Argh I just heard about Ricky Whittle, and I'm excited for both him and that show, but yeah this makes me think Bellamy kills Lincoln? Hopefully he doesn't do it himself and Lincoln is just caught up in whatever mess Michael Beach is instigating, and Bellamy is just a participant in the overarching assault. Which would still suck, so very much.

What bothers me is that I think Bellamy does have great reasons to be anit-Grounder, and those bitches have attacked and betrayed The 100 at every single opportunity, but that's no reason to continue a never ending war with them, and keep sacrificing lives on both sides.

I'm wondering if the 12 clans truce breaks over Lexa's death, and some of them like Trikru align with Clarke/The Ark (despite whatever happens with Bellamy), and some align with Ice Nation against Wahneda and whatever coalition she pulls together.

Except the Grounders haven't attacked or betrayed them at every single turn? A bit too much exaggeration. Like their initial attack came when Jasper was crossing into MW territory. Until then they were just observing them. If they wanted to they could had flat out attacked them in the beginning before they even found weapons and killed them all. Also it was Jasper whom opened fire on the peace negotiations on the bridge, killing several Grounders, which he then preceded to brag about. But somehow it is the Grounders betraying the Arkers at every turn? Then there was the flares from the Delinquents that burned down a village, which they just pretty much shrugged at. And despite of that, Anya did agree to come meet them on the bridge that Jasper then opened fire at.

The Arkers been asked to leave more them once, and find lands of their own, but they say no every time. Would also say the Grounders showed pretty huge leniency when it came to Finn, particularly considering how much the Arkers were trying to cover his ass. This show tries to avoid black and white, and one thing they have done well imo, is to show that both sides here are responsible for the escalation that happened in the previous seasons. Both Grounders and Arkers have been the aggressors in the conflict, and also backtracked and/or lied (e.g. Clarke making it seem like MW people killed Anya, when in fact it was Arkers).

With Bellamy I think it is his inability to truly look at the bigger picture at times and act rash/emotional that will get him into hot waters. Just look at this previous episode. If he haven't gone off Roan wouldn't know he was being tracked and Clarke would had kept resisting, enabling Bell/Monty/Pike etc to catch up. Bellamy seems to be floundering this season, and a man like Pike tends to be very good at snaring in that type of people and twist them around. I just hope that whatever Bellamy does, they will actually make it a believable redemption story line instead of him just eating some berries and being sad for 2 hours in the woods.

I have the suspicion that Bellamy will play a key role in setting off the Grounder Civil War on a high level, and also help Pike gain control in Arkadia where he will probably not be very kind to Lincoln, which sets off Octavia. I think for a while Bellamy will be taking in by Pike's view point before he snaps out of it, and makes some big moves to rectify things.

As a wild spec I can see that Bellamy maybe plays a key role in helping Lexa's side of the Coalition hold control of Polis/save it, while Jasper, Clarke and Lexa are in the CoL dealing with ALIE. At least spoilers seem to indicate that there will be a lot of blood being spilled in Polis while the CoL stuff that was filmed in public, is going down. And the Ice Nation is definitely not being presented as the better side of the Coalition to be a part of (assuming the Civil war is basically Lexa allies vs. Ice Queen allies).

ETA: Promo pictures for 3x03 is out. And things are looking very interesting.

Interesting seeing Abby, Kane and Indra in Polis together. An adult trio that I haven't really considered but now that I think about it I think they could be very interesting to see play off each other. On a minor side note, so happy to see extras in the background of various skin colours. Too often shows just hire all white except one token background extra (if even that).

I think that Pike being a teacher to the 100 on the station, convinced all grounders will betray them, and Indra being at Lexa's side when Clarke is brought to them is a good indication of what is going to happen with Bellamy.  The grounders are going to try using Clarke as a pawn/weapon and Bellamy will react worse to that than Clarke will and Clarke didn't seem like she was reacting all that well.

After the stuff with the bald mutant guy who was alive in the City of Light after dying to Emori, it's quite likely that Lexa is actually dead in the finale. And really, stuff like that seems something the show would do after making Clarke forgive her. IDK, maybe Rotherberg is too much of a Clexa shipper or something, but narrative laws seem to be in favor of Lexa's death ATM.

There been various hints and lines dropped so far and several BTS stuff (some of it spoilery), so I think this is the thread to post these things and discuss possible theories. If I'm wrong please move the post with my apologies. I feel like all of these things are tied together into a greater picture that will be revealed later on.

Emori said in 3x02 that we have other buyers when talking about ALIE tech. Here she was after the remade nuclear powered device that stores A.L.I.E. and makes her portable. Just what would others want with that?

Luna - the leader of the Boat Clan - has gone into hiding. One writer also had a TeamLuna (tweet? T-shirt? I can't remember). It was also mentioned that the ambassador that took point in the vote of no confidence was the Boat Clan ambassador. So there is definitely something up with Luna and her clan. Perhaps her clan is one of the other buyers for the tech that the desert people find for A.L.I.E.?

Titus has a room with a drop pod, silhouetted female character on the walls in what looks like a nuclear blast, and most significant the infinity symbol tied with A.L.I.E. which leads to another mystery...

...  Lexa has the infinity symbol tattooed on her neck. Another tie to A.L.I.E. and strong indication of A.L.I.E. having a hand in the Grounders society. Furthermore Reddit pointed out that upon closer inspection, Lexa's tattoo down her back looks like circuit board symbols. Spawning the theory that it might be code or blueprint to a device that is either to use against A.L.I.E. or something else related to her. The infinity symbol wasn't really that visible in 3x04 (at best one blurry half). A picture posted by the make-up artist (or was it costume designer) that showed it clearly was pulled down very fast. Before that no one had noticed. Here is a link the to image: http://i.imgur.com/aiW5i9i.jpg

Jason also mentioned the black blood is not a mutation in an interview, and stopped himself from completing a sentence that sounded like it was needed for something specific.

In episode 3x03, Titus was clearly annoyed at Lexa over her actions regarding Clarke indicating it was putting some long term plan at risk. But we have been given no further clues what that plan is. Just that they were close, which means it likely can't be the Coalition/The Grounders living in peace.

I can't really say with any certainty, but my best bid on these things with current information is Luna's clan will be a 3rd party into this mess, ALIE is the main creator of Grounder religious belief/the creation of the Heda position, but I can't figure out if Titus and Lexa are aware of whom A.L.I.E. Also the black blood and tattoos. Would love to hear others thoughts/spec though

Man, for someone whose elected government just straight-up murdered 300 innocent people and who herself had to go evacuate even more innocent people to get them away from said homicidal governmental officials (including her big brother), Octavia is throwing some serious shade at people who are...actually working for peace and haven't attacked the Arkers despite having every justification to? Man, the Arkers can be seriously self-righteous.

Really excited to see the origin story of the world of The 100!!!

If are only in Polis and flashbacks this episode, that would be fine with me.

Yeah, Octavia is starting to grate lately. I understand she harbours anger for TonDC and the mountain, but even when she's calling out Clarke she's never offering alternatives. Don't frickin' complain about the actions taken by someone in the interest of your people if you're not offering up other options.

Ricky Whittle character is likely to be dead before this season ends but it seems another black character is likely to be added to the pile. Adina Porter has just shot a pilot for another TV show. Previously to that she finished filming for a movie and also filmed for another TV series (Underground from WGN America). She is credited as a main character on Underground as well.

Interviews and such also indicate that Pike will be around in S4. The actor was still reported to be filming at the end of this season, and Rothenberg in an interview talked as if Pike was still around going into S4. The latter could be misdirection or at least I hope so as his character us just dragging everything down.

So I saw the first 13 minutes of 3X09 from Wondercon, and it looks pretty good, if again totally gratuitously over the top in terms of we're so edgy violence.  Chopping off Aden's head (it sounds like Ontari kills the whole passel of them, so she's the only legit option for Commander)? One step beyond dude. Badass Octavia knocks Bellamy the fuck out when he tries to negotiate the saving of Lincoln et al, I would think this is the ep she tells him he's dead to her? Harper also gets off a great burn on Monty.

I'm thinking that Ontari does effectively become Commander, but Clarke ends up implanted with The Eternal Flame chip and becomes the RIGHTFUL rebel Commander in lieu of the slaughtered nightbloods. It actually looks like a strong episode, save all the Pike nonsense, and I really can't believe Pike is going to stick around for the entire season while I've got barely any Indra. Eff Rothman.

I haven't seen these 13 minutes but from what I have read it sure sounds like some more grimdark nonsense. I mean, it's one thing for the Night Bloods to fight each other to death when they are all of similar age and quite another for some grown woman to come and kill all her rivals off while they are still kids. The grounders society is very violent sure but that seems too much. And Clarke becoming Commander would be simply absurd... so it will probably happen, the way things are going this season.

Seriously, they are going to keep Pike? "Anyone can die but Pike given to his enemies who love torturing people to death... he is going to make it somehow, even though many of his own people hate him too and the rest are zombies who aren't going to come to his rescue any time soon. It makes sense, trust us, have we ever let you down before?"

Link to comment

Pike has to live you guys so Jason can show you how bigger threats (ALIE) require even mortal enemies to ally. Which is completely different than the Grounders and the 100 having to ally to defeat Mt. Weather. Jason Rothenberg's fresh AF tv writing.

The thing is he's killed off so many women and minorities and minority women, that as much as I want Pike (or Jaha) and Ontari die, they'll just be two more underrepresented minorities gone from the canvas. Lincoln for Pike and Lexa for Ontari is the worst deal in the entire tv universe.

In a just TV universe Bellamy would die, not heroically, but go out like the bitch Rothenberg regressed him to, but we all know that is not going to happen, and I resent that my favorite character was again destroyed to serve a repetitious joyless slog of a story about everyone else BUT The 100 this year.

Solace247 unfortunately all three characters that you named are alive until at least the beginning of Season 4.

kdm07, do you know something I don't? I've seen mention of next season in people's tweets and interviews, but I've been chalking that up to marketing and spoiler control until I know otherwise. That being said, I've been assuming the worst (I.e. No one that should die, will die) in the hopes of being pleasantly proven wrong in at least one of the cases.

I can't even fully enjoy these eps that everyone is raving about because I'm super pissed at having had to watch the Pike arc (complete with a shitty election) and having to watch Bellamy be a douche in last week's episode then get teary-eyed a little too effing late, and have no one take him to task for it in this episode. I get that there are no rules in post-apocalyptic worlds, where "there are no good guys", but there's no cosmic justice either. That's the only term I can come up with to mean: Finn dies, Bellamy lives. (And I wasn't even a Finn fan.) It makes for a frustrating viewing experience.

That, understandbly, very angry and hurt section of the fanbase pretty much released all the info they knew about the finale. My memory is foggy on Jaha but Pike and Bellamy are still alive by the end of Season 3. Bellamy has plot armour (which I won't even get into because I'll start raging again) and Pike is definitely still alive.

The only who seems to meet his end is Jasper IIRC

I haven't watched a single episode since 3x07 but from everything I'm seeing here and wrt spoilers online, I probably won't even binge-watch this show over the summer because I can feel that the destruction of Clarke's characterisation has already started.

Yeah, I saw the finale 'footage' in spits and spirts--I'm usually a spoiler whore, but was trying to refrain from being spoiled on effing premiere day! Needless to say, I didn't succeed, but also didn't study the frames or anything. I had heard the Jasper bit which I'm fine with because I've never been a fan of Jasper.

Yeah, I can't believe Clarke is going to gloss over the shitstorm that happened as a result of Bellamy's involvement with Pike. Especially since the writers are using the Clexa relationship to fulfill the AI arc (a la finale leaks). If the WRITERS think it's important (even if i's solely for plot) you think a reaction from Clarke to Bellamy would work its way in there somewhere.

This season, you might not 'know where it's going' (you know, unless you were invited to see filming of the effing COL in the finale), but you can certainly see the moving parts: Massacres left offscreen; spare the wounded!; wait! Have Indra send a message!; oh BTW, there's no blood must have blood so we're cool--that also applies to meting out justice now, too!, maybe there are no good guys so, no biggie that my girlfriend is dead now due to your shenanigans.

Clarke has kept Arkadia from annhilation and no one knows or gives a fuck!

Moving on...

For a show that is soooooooo spoilerphobic, it sure is ridiculous that from 3.07 on, it's somewhat spoiled as to what happens in the finale. Sure, we'll probably get some details wrong, but from here it's looking like the ol' fare thee well, go on and live life spiel. Many are speculating that it'll go down like this: Jasper and/or Kane are dead and/or present in the city of light. Clarke has to put the Flame in herself for reasons (time is of the essence) only she's not a nightblood, so it's only a matter of time before it rejects her and she dies (unless her friends can zap the AI when all is apsaid and done so that Clarke survives!) so off she goes to swallow the COL chip. Inside she's a little effed up, but luckily the two AIs are joined so Lexa finds Clarke and brings her out of her fugue. The AI COL people a la Matrix detect an intruder/enemy and try to neutralize Clarke, but luckily Lexa is a badass and fights the COLers, buying Clarke and friends enough time to do destroy the city of light, but not without destroying the Flame, thus releasing those connected to the COL and 'killing' those that have already died. Cue tearful Clexa farewell, I'll always be with you' fighting off into the sunset... (I may have heard spoiler dialogue) AND CLIFFHANGER WTF MOMENT THAT HAS NOT BEEN FULLY THOUGHT THROUGH AND CONCEIVED OF AND COULD VERY WELL RUIN THE SHOW, BUT MAYBE NOT, ISN'T THIS FUN?!

Sorry, was that too bitter?

I would prefer if it were a pain-induced hallucination of Pike's using our delinquents as stand-ins for his students, because straight up flashback to our delinquents in prison getting earth skills training , while plausible, undercuts the relationships and lack thereof, that we were presented with in the pilot between the delinquents. Also, Clarke, who clearly wasn't allowed out of solitary to attend, put them all to shame in earth skills in the first season, as did Wells, who again, won't be present in this retro class.
