jewel21 October 29, 2021 Share October 29, 2021 I was let go this morning. All in a matter of minutes. Just come into the office, you've been here about two months and I don't think you're a good fit in the front. We'll pay you until the end of the day. And we'll put on the ROE that it was a contract job and that you fulfilled the contract and can collect unemployment but we'd like you to leave now and thank you. I know about a week ago the manager said she wanted me to pick up the pace more, answer the phones faster, etc, which I took to heart and was doing. Unfortunately, the billings were always going to the other receptionists even when I was available. I had asked the girls to give me more billings on a daily basis but it was still slim pickings and I think that hurt me because it made me look unproductive but I also feel that wasn't on me. I wanted to do billings. And I was available to do them. Blah. Whatever. 2 Link to comment

At the vegetable stand by me, well it's a whole store really, but colloquially we call it that, they sell "Korean yams" which I found on the web as "Japanese sweet potatoes", which have a dark purplish skin and yellow flesh. They are amazing. They are the cake of sweet potatoes/yams. Try them if you see them. the whole yam/sweet potato thing is so confusing. When I was a child, yams were tougher and stringy and sweet potatoes were fluffier and more potato-like. Now I hear/read "experts" claiming the opposite is the case. They're all bred to be so close now that it doesn't make any difference what they call them - they're virtually the same. And sweet potato pie is wonderful. 2 2 Link to comment

RIP Lowtax, I hope you left something to your children. Something Awful founder Richard Kyanka, also known as Lowtax, has died aged 45, according to reports. Kevin "Fragmaster" Bowen, a former administrator of the comedy website, returned to the internet forum to confirm Kyanka had died.
