Wow, that episode description has me convinced. Billy is either evil, working for Prometheus and leading Felicity into danger.

Or, he's good and, gets killed by Prometheus either saving Felicity or for digging up info on Prometheus.

Either way, I think 509 might be the last we see of him.

There's also a tiny part of me that thinks Billy might actually turn out to BE Prometheus.

I really hope Mayo Bread is working for Prometheus and him dating Felicity is a long con. At least it'll make him vaguely interesting. Woah, that was a stretch there. I mean it'll be a step up from pointless and bland. Haha.

If it allows Felicity to punch him in the face that'll be super interesting to me :)

What is caper?

Do you mean they get out of the bunker? Undercover stuff?

Basically, yes. Ocean's 11 is an example of a caper movie for instance. It's the protagonists pulling off something illegal in plain view of the audience. On the show, think of OTA infiltrating Merlyn Gobal at the end of season 1 or Oliver and Felicity, accompanied by Noah and aided by Lance infiltrating PT last year.

SAs comment about Felicity and Mayos connection makes me think it's option 2.

I just hope we don't get despondent Felicity over it.

Yep. I think the only way we'd get that is if that's Felicity's storyline for 5B (and if it is, oh god, it better not be).

I do think we might get Felicity saying she realized it wasn't real between them if that's how it goes down. Or, if they do have Felicity kidnapped, they'll figure enough time has passed between his death and her rescue that they won't really have to address it.

I'm also partially thinking that either situation (evil and working for Prometheus or good and gets killed by Prometheus while saving Felicity) might end up being the cliffhanger for 509 leading up to/the beginning part of the scene between Prometheus and Felicity in 510.

I don't want to see Felicity mourn a guy we saw on screen for a grand total of five minutes. That would be ridiculous, especially as I don't even buy that she likes him all that much. Mayo being shady and working for Prometheus would be a much better solution to his character, IMO. I don't want him to be Prometheus though. The actor just isn't good enough.

Personally I'll take option 1 since option 2 is such a Rachel Dawes Dark Knight storyline or even Laurel with Tommy or Iris with Eddie in that if he's good and he dies that means it will in all likely case form the emotional crux of Felicitys storyline in 5B and what motivates her and the easiest way to bring that home is for him to be someone real and someone she loved who died.

Now if that were to happen that doesn't annoy me from an Olicity perspective (although I'd be lying it I didn't say that's part of it) I think they can have Felicity believe what she had with Billy is real just like I think despite loving Oliver more she had real feelings for Ray in season 3.

But Billy is not Ray and their relationship is no where near being treated seriously enough for me to buy that Felicity would be emotionally changed by Billy dying anymore then she would anyone on Team Arrow dying because the writers treat Billy and Felicity more like friends with benefits.

And also Felicity already had a perfectly good emotional set up with Haven Rock and Rory that was easily breezed through and I'd hate to see her being given more by being weepy over a guy who the audience has no emotional investment in.

I prefer if Felicity found out he was evil and playing her or even seeing her suspect he is working for Prometheus and watch her play double agent to get information out of him.

Thats a far more refreshing and interesting take then let's have Felicity get upset and blame herself over a guy who's only had 5 minutes of screen time so it looks like she has something to do and so we have reasons to point at why Oliver and her can't be together.

But didn't MG say that Felicity story line for 5B has nothing to do with Oliver? I mean, if it's connected to Prometheus, it's connected to Oliver.

That's why personally I'm hoping for Smoak Technologies for Felicity on 5B. I mean if they changed Sara to John Jr to make LOT 1x06 canon why not that also?

It would have to happen when he's not out as Ragman though, so someone would have to tell (presumably) Prometheus (if he's responsible) who he is. But maybe Evelyn does? Because I don't see anything getting past those magic rags yet. I mean, he just stands there in the middle of fight scenes and everyone stands behind him and bam, everyone's safe.

I really hope you're wrong too. He's my favorite recruit. I think if we start getting more of him around the middle of the season, however, it could be a strong possibility.

I mostly expected Rory to live but to decide to help somewhere else.  I'd love if we got to keep him though.

I'm assuming that by this point, they've either quickly cleared his name, totally forgotten that they have to clear his name and ignore that fact, or they're going to have him living as John Diggle's twin.

Or maybe they borrow the new light bending face swapping device HR brought with him from Earth19?

Quote

Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Detective Malone (guest star Tyler Ritter) discover a clue that links Prometheus to Oliver’s past.

Other than giving me strong Nancy Drew & the Hardy Boys vibes, this makes me think that Mayo is a good guy and doesn't have ties to Prometheus.  Prometheus has already given him the notebook clue; that should be enough to cue that he's connected to Oliver's past so this better be something reallyh good..

Technically, this would be connected to Mayo dying and not about Oliver.  MG is twisty,

Sigh. She had a perfectly good storyline with the chip to help people walk again and they just dropped it for this bf thing.

And that would have been another good storyline for her.  It burns me that Diggle is allowed to have his guilt over Andy go on and on and on, but Felicity's Havenrock guilt lasted all of two episodes, just long enough to bring Rory back to the Team.

I loved the spec earlier about there being several bads working together to bring down Oliver. (I also realize this is too good of a story line for these writers, but let me dream.) What if someone is working all three of TA? Prometheus is running the show. GirlBoob is getting inside intel.  Mayo is working Felicity. RayPorter is working Oliver. But, then I need someone working Dig. That's the part I'm missing. This could be a really good fanfic when the show goes in another direction. :p

IMO, Smoak Tech would probably be more about establishing a place for Curtis to create technology than about Felicity. That said IF Tina is for Oliver they might want to remove her from the lair.  Smoak Tech would do that. It would also sort of be a replay of her reaction to Sara's death.  "I want more than this in my life."

If Smoak Tech gets Curtis off the Team, I'm all for it.  Too be Wild Dog can't work there too.

I don't think they need to remove Felicity from the lair to get Oliver together with Tina, they could do that in the training sessions as they did with Tina.  It's pretty insulting to Felicity if it does happen, though, because she went to Coast City to recruit Tina.

  • Love 1

They might not but if she has a company she could help from there. I was thinking maybe they wouldn't go the Sara route in lair like S2 IF  Tina is for Oliver. I don't know whose potential love interest she is. Just speculating as stupid as it might sound.

I guess people will be claiming tina is for oliver even after Olicity reunite.

Inside info?

Lol how many times is she gonna leave the lair.

I am not confirming or denying. Last season was a lesson that people will find excuses to hold on to their own ideas and fears. It was very exhausting last season and not doing that again.

Fair enough but is it accurate to say that you feel confident in Olicity?

Well, I am not sold on any particular story.  She begins 5A doing nothing but being in the lair (and has a boyfriend) so I did wonder if she would be out of it in 5B with her own arc similar to Diggle's 5.01-5.03 arc.  That said, it looks to me like she is being positioned to recruit/dispatch vigilantes but would that really be new for her?  Smoak Tech doesn't seem new for her either.  I'd actually like to be surprised by something new.

As for Tina, I only have trouble believing she's for Wild Dog when I see BTS pictures like today. LOL!

As for Olicity, I don't think they are over but I haven't seen anything onscreen that says a reunion is imminent. Not banking on anything happening just because Antonio is directing 5.09.   I do remember how 3.20 happened though so anything is possible.

Very. And it might happen sooner than the majority expects.

From the way the season has been going I've been expecting it pushed back perhaps til next season so I'll gladly cling to any other hope.   I'm going to try and set aside my worries for now.  I absolutely know I'm going to watch anyway through at least the first few episodes after the winter break, so why stress about what's coming or not coming?

I honestly cannot see how the show could reunite Oliver and Felicity in 509. I'm one of the (very) few who disliked 3x20 and the ride off into the sunset. Both came out of nowhere IMO. Especially the sunset drive-- they hadn't dealt with any of the issues in season three. For them to reunite in 509 would be even less believable, especially since Felicity is still apparently with the BF in it. (Unless he's evil, and Felicity and Oliver reunite that way in some anger/grief sex thing). But yet again, they haven't dealt with ANYTHING. There has been zero conversations between them, and literally nothing has changed. Oliver still lies and hides the truth and doesn't fully trust her.

Honestly, imo, the show reuniting them in literally the next episode (the crossovers rarely count as 'real' episodes) would be cheap, and it would feel like it was done because they know they are losing viewers/social media buzz and want that back. Damn any actual storytelling. If people are happy with that, okay-- but I can't see how it would be good for either character. Felicity deserves more than to always jump from her current boyfriend to Oliver in the same episode. The same thing happened with Ray.

If the show wants me to not only like this ship again and root for them, but to also like Oliver, it's going to take way more than them banging in 509 and deciding to be together again. I actually need Oliver to apologize to Felicity (using the words "I'm sorry for x, y, and z"), and I need more than an episode for her to decide that she can trust him with her heart again. Because right now, I do not see any reason she should, and see multiple reasons she shouldn't.

one word can really change the entire sentence. whoops.

I haven't seen the latest ep (apparently not much Felicity in it) but I don't see how they can reunite in 509. In season 3 they were pining for each other so I was fine with how they got together  (ok I felt superbad for poor Ray).

They barely interacted from what I've read about 507 so no idea how they'd reunite in 509.

I was joking ;) I don't think that they'll reconcile in 509, but hints to it, or steps towards that direction? Absolutely. I'm actually down with @Morrigan2575's spec that they'll reconcile during February sweeps.

Anyway, I do agree with what you wrote. And if this was a better show, I'd demand a coherent storyline and all the proper steps. But since it's what it is; they've not done justice to it more often than not; their developments have always been all over the place; the writers suck at writing drama for them, some part of me would rather they'd just get this over with.
