Jx223 June 28, 2017 Share June 28, 2017 (edited) According to Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter and other sources the Rockets and Clippers have agreed to a trade that sends Chris to Houston and 3 players and a pick to the Clippers. I wish Chris the best and am interested in seeing how he plays with James Harden. Also, I am glad that Phil Jackson is gone from the Knicks. He was a poor executive for them who disrespected players, especially Carmelo. The way he treated Carmelo was ridiculous. It never seemed like he really wanted to help the Knicks much. I also believe he probably preferred to be in LA. Free agency begins Saturday and I am interested in seeing what other moves players and teams make. Edited June 28, 2017 by Jx223 2 Link to comment

Jx223 June 29, 2017 Share June 29, 2017 (edited) Here is some news from today regarding free agency and some job openings in the NBA: There are reports out from ESPN that John Calipari inquired about the Knicks President of Operations Job and that the Knicks were possibly looking to rehire Isiah Thomas for that job. It was reported that the Knicks are not currently interested in John Calipari and Isiah Thomas tweeted he wasn't interested in the job. Other candidates mentioned that the Knicks might be interested in pursuing are David Griffin, Toronto's Raptors president Masai Ujiri and OKC's GM Sam Presti. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19770044/john-calipari-kentucky-wildcats-makes-inquiry-new-york-knicks-sources-say The Pacers have decided to hire Chad Buchanan as their new GM. Chad was the assistant GM for the Charlotte Hornets: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19769149/indiana-pacers-hire-chad-buchanan-new-general-manager Also, it's being reported that the Blake Griffin and Paul Milsap will be meeting with the Suns which I think is interesting. I wish at least one of them would meet with the Thunder, though the Thunder doesn't really have much cap space. I did hear that the Thunder was interested in Blake Griffin and Rudy Gay. I hope they land at least one player in free agency. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19769653/blake-griffin-los-angeles-clippers-paul-millsap-atlanta-hawks-meet-phoenix-suns Edited June 30, 2017 by Jx223 Link to comment
Jx223 July 1, 2017 Share July 1, 2017 (edited) Some more moves that have been made today before Free agency begins: Rondo was released by the Bulls and Ricky Rubio was traded to the Jazz for a 1st round 2018 pick. It's also being reported that there is a strong chance that Jeff Teague will join the T-Wolves. The Knicks have stopped pursuing him because they believe he is going to sign with the wolves. Also, according to Brian Windhorst John Wall has been offered a 4 year/168 million dollar deal by the Wizards. Free Agency officially begins tonight at midnight. Andre Iguodala will be taking a meeting with the Spurs after it begins. He hasn't scheduled a meeting with the Warriors yet, but he still may end up doing that. Gordon Hayward will also be meeting with the Heat, Jazz and Celtics. Also, Summer League begins tomorrow on NBATV. I am looking forward to seeing how this year's draft players perform. DrSpaceman73 July 1, 2017 Share July 1, 2017 I am surprised the Pacers hired the Hornets assistant GM. Its not like they have have been great at building a team in Charlotte. This is a surprising move, but I am happy for the Thunder and I hope that this will end up working out for the Pacers. The Thunder really didn't have any cap space and it looked like they were going to have a hard time getting a good free agent. But they got PG now. Jx223 July 4, 2017 Share July 4, 2017 (edited) ****Looks like the Hayward to Celtics report was a premature report by ESPN.**** Reporter Chris Haynes has originally reported on Twitter that sources stated that Gordon was going to sign with the Celtics, but David Aldridge of TNT and Adrian Wojnarowski came out and reported that he is still deciding which team to join. (Adrian even posted a quote from Gordon's agent saying he is still trying to decide where to go. I wonder where Gordon will end up doing. I can see him deciding to go to either Boston/Miami/Utah for different reasons. I wouldn't mind seeing him go to Miami, I think that him being down there would be interesting. But I could see him possibly choosing Boston to have a better shot at winning or even staying in Utah. Edited July 4, 2017 by Jx223 Link to comment

Jx223 July 5, 2017 Share July 5, 2017 (edited) Gordon has just announced that he will be signing with the celtics via the Player's Tribune (and also on Twitter). It looks like the news was leaked earlier than he wanted and not quite in the way that he wanted and that is why his agent said "No decision was made" while they figured out how to officially release the news. (Utah hadn't heard from him yet when it was first released). At least now the Celtics did manage to make a move and get one of the free agents they were interested in. I am interested in seeing how things work out for them now with the addition of Gordon. Also George Hill and Zach Randolph agreed to sign with the Kings. I think that the Kings have been making some solid moves this offseason, including during the draft. Omri Cassipi has agreed to sign with the Warriors after being traded to the Pelicans (along with Boogie Cousins) and then shortly waived afterwards once he got hurt. And Chris Bosh has been waived by the Heat and they will retire his number. It's unfortunate that his career got cut shorter than he wanted due to his health issues, but I wish him the best as he moves forward with his life. Edited July 5, 2017 by Jx223 Link to comment

I look forward to seeing more of him in the Summer league and next season. I think that the Kings have acquired some nice young talent. And now they have added veterans like Vince Carter who will help mentor and guide these young players. Lonzo Ball definitely struggled tonight, but hopefully he will play better. He seemed a bit nervous, and I wonder if all the hype and pressure that has been placed on him was affecting him. So true. But do you think it's because they've been saying Michael Irvin and (less often) Earvin "Magic" Johnson over the years? Speaking of Kyrie, when I heard about his desire to be traded, my first thought was that he was sticking it to LeBron. “I don’t need you to be great, man. I’m done being your Scottie Pippen.” After getting more information, I realize that this is a talented basketball player who simply wants to control the next chapter of his career. And that's fair. Especially when it’s rumored that LeBron will be leaving the Cavs next year. But did it simply leak that Kyrie wanted to be traded, or did he actually say something to the media? If it’s the latter, then Kyrie definitely wants the attention and controversy that goes with all of this trade talk. Link to comment
FuriousStyles July 27, 2017 Share July 27, 2017 The only theory that makes sense to me is that Kyrie wants to avoid the embarrassment of being exposed. Kyrie has enjoyed the fruits of Lebron's labor and over the last 3 years has vaulted to 10-15 best players in the league. But what's going to happen when Lebron leaves in a year and Kyrie becomes THEE guy in Cleveland? Can he do what Westbrook did and still carry his team to the playoffs? I doubt it....and the Cavs are in the EAST! If you're THAT dude....you should be able to make the playoffs at least. Kyrie can't say he wants to win and then put the Knicks on the list of teams he wants to be traded to. He can't say he wants to be the man...when he WILL be the man in a year when Lebron leaves and the other teams he's mentioned Spurs (Kawhi), Twolves (Jimmy Butler) already have their main guys. 1 Link to comment

Have the Cleveland players lost confidence in their ability to win again, do they all secretly hate one another, or is the organization poorly run? It's sad when players want to bolt from a successful team, but in that case, there's usually more to the story than meets the eye. I just know that players openly express how much they enjoy playing for certain teams like the Spurs and the Golden State Warriors. Whether their team wins the title or not. Players bond with their teammates, and they seem to like the management. OKC used to have a similar vibe--until Durant bolted. Which was totally his right, I keep reminding my son. Link to comment

Just based on the owners actions after he left the first time with his infamous "letter", and his release a story about Paul George and how they claim they were SO close to a "trade" for him before the draft when in fact if you read the actual story, it seems basically the Indiana GM just turned down the trade offer on reflection, nothing further, I'd say bad ownership is a big part of the problem. Oh and lets not forget firing an experienced coach after losing in the finals to basically bring in someone Lebron seemingly wanted instead. The GM firing and search this offseason as well seemed a bit chaotic and poorly handled as well 1 Link to comment

Magog July 31, 2017 Share July 31, 2017 (edited) Why does it feel like I'm watching the death of a franchise (Cavaliers) & a funeral in progress for the past few weeks? First, GM David Griffin gets kicked to the curb by that brain dead owner (Dan Gilbert & I'm still irritated by that), then Chauncey Billups says no & then that brain dead owner would rather have some useless nobody (Koby Altman) help run the team to the ground than wising up & beg David Griffin to come back. That nobody Koby Altman has been GM for a couple of weeks & already he is showing how much he is going to suck by signing washed up, not worth a damn anymore Derrick Rose. Then it gets even worse that it already has since Kyrie Irving wants to leave the Cavaliers because of him & LeBron not getting along. That last part came out of nowhere & it shocked the hell out of me. Just even thinking about this making want to throw up. ESPN have to giddy & thrilled that the Cavaliers are being burnt to the ground right now & that LeBron will very likely leave them again after next season to go play for those scummy Lakers with Big Baller Brand & future teammate Paul George. You know that they want this to happen by any means necessary. I also know that those Warriors are also laughing right now. Edited July 31, 2017 by Magog Link to comment
