KingOfHearts March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 Which means she will be able to open the hat and release the apprentice, once she faces her darkness and turns away. So does that mean Regina has faced her inner darkness and turned away? Probably on this show. Link to comment
YaddaYadda March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 If we go with that, she wanted to reduce Marian to dust by incinerating her in 401 and she turned away from it. I don't know if counts though since Regina has done some pretty vile things in her past. Anna was a different story, she never did anything bad, she's just a genuinely good and caring person who was faced with her darkness and did not act on it. Regina also released the fairies by using the dagger. You know, the dagger no one had seen since the Dark One had been banished as per Hook, when Belle handed it over to Regina in 412 and he was standing right there. Link to comment
Mathius March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 Technically, the whole Marian thing in 4x01 would probably count, since she literally faced her darkness in the mirror, seeing what she was like when she'd led Marian to execution, and turned away as a result, giving up her stupid plan to go back in time and kill her. 1 Link to comment

I guess you could consider that since Emma gave all the credit to Regina and made sure the fairies thanked her, Hook figured that he and Belle weren't really there, after all. 9 Link to comment

I don't know if that counts. Seeing her former self didn't seem to have dampened her spirit for going back in time. When the Mirror showed her how she behaved and asked if that was what she wanted to see to further her plan along, she said "Exactly". She didn't change her mind until Marian pleaded for help and told her that maybe she wasn't a monster. She still kept saying she doesn't regret her former actions (except for the gaslighting) and rolled her eyes when people commented on what she had done in the past. She still needs an epiphany on how what she did was Evil. She ddin't even let Sidney out of the MIrror. Maybe, that epiphany will come as part of finale. Maybe she'll figure out that she should be good not because Henry expects it or to get her happy ending dispensed to her. She should be good because being evil is awful. An "It's a Wonderful Life" or "Christmas Carol" or something like that journey would give her that. I'm sure A&E would prefer "It's a Wonderful Life" type story because it is the hero's journey (a "Christmas Carol" is the same journey for the villain). 1 Link to comment
KingOfHearts March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 (edited) She didn't change her mind until Marian pleaded for help and told her that maybe she wasn't a monster. I think I disagree on that. I believe she made the decision not to after seeing her former self, but also past Marian telling her if she had a family she wouldn't be acting that way. The look on her face changed from snarls to pensive, and in my personal interpretation that was her "oh crap I'm doing it again" moment. That's why she decided to save Marian later. But your mileage may vary. BTS for 417 With that pen in Picture 3, this might be where things to start to get weird. Maybe Rumple makes a deal with him. The pen back for a happy ending. Mathius March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 ^ Yeah, that. She looked and sounded very shaken when she said "Exactly", so clearly actually seeing herself in full-on evil mode and hearing Marian's words had an effect on her. Link to comment
Shanna Marie March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 The look on her face changed from snarls to pensive, and in my personal interpretation that was her "oh crap I'm doing it again" moment. I would agree. That was a big turning point for Regina. However, I don't think she's yet shed a tear of remorse for what she's done, only for what's happened to her, so I wouldn't look to her for the critical ingredient in dealing with the hat. But wasn't that for getting the hat out of its hiding place? Now that the hat is wherever they have it (I hope not with Belle, as gullible as she is, though she's probably extra paranoid now), they don't need the tear of a person who faced darkness and turned back. The Peddler having the quill could suggest that whatever wackiness is coming might just be him writing stuff on a whim, not following any set pattern for hero/villain outcome. Not that he seems to have cared about that anyway, unless him having Mal's baby sent away was his way of making sure a villain didn't get a happy ending. Link to comment

The Peddler seems to be hanging out a lot with Rumple. In the woods in 417, in plain day light in 418. I think that what the Peddler did to the Apprentice almost seemed like a power struggle between the two. The Sorcerer and the Apprentice are the ones who choose the person for the job and the Peddler didn't fuck with Snowing, he fucked with the Apprentice. Yes, he manipulated Snowing into changing their path and sent them the way of the Apprentice, but ultimately, the banishment of Lily to the LwM is the Apprentice's doing, not Snowing's. So the Peddler was really messing with the Apprentice, he took his free will and his choices away because the Apprentice would never have done what he did to that child. Maybe he just used Snowing to do what it is he really wanted to do. Link to comment

Shanna Marie March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 So, on the basis of that, Robin had met Zelena before the missing year and should therefore have recognized her even without the green skin in Storybrooke. And how many times does this guy who claims to have always lived by a code have to learn to be an "honorable" thief? Didn't he say he learned that lesson from Marian when he stole from her family? Or is this his first chance to try "honorable" thieving after meeting Marian? And are they going to show the influence Marian had on his life and then still persist in pushing Outlaw Queen? Oh dear, I may be reaching the point of actively hating this show but stuck because there are still a few characters I like, and curse them for making me turn around on Belle and adding one to my list. sharky March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 (edited) I'm just assuming that the green skin is like Clark Kent's glasses. There's something magical or whatever that makes it work as a great disguise for anyone who lives in the TV box but not normal people who only watch it. The press release sounded OK until I got to the end and was reminded that this episode was co-written by Scott Nimerfro. Good news is I have two weeks to stock up on wine -- or perhaps something stronger in this case. I already have the rum and hope to find some Passover Coke next week so I should be good. pezgirl7 March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 (edited) I wonder if "fairy tale flashback" is used loosely to refer only to Oz? Could Robin have some how travelled to Oz from NYC? If Zelena is still alive, it's possible she could have poofed back to Oz some how. So maybe Rumple finds Robin in NYC, gets him to break into Walsh's shop, which has a portal to Oz. There Robin discovers that Zelena is still alive, and she somehow comes back through the portal with Robin. Although that doesn't explain what happened to Marian or why Zelena was wearing Robin's clothes, or why Rumple wouldn't just go and steal the elixir himself. Perhaps the elixir, and the hospital in NYC and Rumple's bad heart are all tied together. ETA: Looking at the guest actors, this probably did happen before NYC, since the Sheriff of Nottingham is still alive. Unless there are two sets of flashbacks. Maybe Rumple figures Walsh might have some more elixir in his NYC shop, which is why Robin tries to break in to it later. Can someone remind me what episode that happens in? And is the elixir even for Rumple's heart? How long has he known he was dying? Edited March 31, 2015 by pezgirl7 Link to comment

legaleagle53 April 1, 2015 Share April 1, 2015 Thinking that tomorrow is the last day of filming of the season makes me really sad for some reason. Yeah, it's a bit like the feeling you have on the last day of the school year, isn't it? I mean, you're looking forward to three months of summer vacation, but at the same time you're kind of sad that something that's such a part of your daily routine is temporarily over with. Just imagine what the very last day of production will feel like when this show finally ends! High-school graduation, anyone? 1 Link to comment
YaddaYadda April 1, 2015 Share April 1, 2015 So I'm Canadian and I grew up in Quebec and high school especially there does not have the same significance as it does in the United States. Shanna Marie April 1, 2015 Share April 1, 2015 I'll probably cry when this show ends and then I'll re-watch it and cry some more. I don't know, at the rate they're going in driving the show into the ground, news of cancellation may come as a huge relief. I may be sad about the stories they aren't going to get to tell, but then I'd be aware that they probably never would get around to telling the stories I'd want to see, and even if they did they'd just screw them up. If the show ended, the characters I loved couldn't be further assassinated, the cast members I love could move on to other things, and it would free up a lot of time in my schedule. I'd mourn what could have been, but I'm already doing that. It is sad that they're about to wrap filming because it means they're beyond the point of being able to make a course correction. No matter how bad the ratings are, no matter how massive the critical and fan outrage, there would be very little they could do to fix things. We just have to ride it out and hope the network steps in with some loving correction over the summer. 3 Link to comment

Serena April 2, 2015 Share April 2, 2015 How exactly do casting announcements work? Could they have cast someone as the Sorcerer, even if for just a couple of episodes, and kept their involvement with the show a secret? You'd think we would have heard about a new actor that could be the Sorcerer by now, if it's not someone already on the show. Like with the Author, they introduced him as a Peddler to not give it away and with Agnes they didn't give any clue as to who she was (even though it's glaringly obvious to most people). I just don't see how it would make sense for anyone already on the show to be the Sorcerer, even Shady or the Apprentice (he already acts like a sorcerer so that would be the lamest twist ever) Casting announcements go, the network/PR people sent the info or a press release to the media when they've cast someone they want the media to report on. It won't happen for every single character, but when it's either a 'famous' actor or an important character, they'll let the media know to get publicity. However, sometimes if they want to keep a casting secret, they won't announce anything. This happened for Chris Gorham being cast in 312. We found out about that casting because of some fans taking pics of outside filming and we spotted a dude and started going 'wait, does that look like the Covert Affairs dude to anyone else?' - only several days after the fandom had figured it out, there was some kind of announcement in the press.
