TWP October 28, 2015 Share October 28, 2015 Agreed. Also, it was pretty universally panned by legit TV critics, which you don't see too often. I live less than 30 minutes from where Ted Bundy picked up some of his victims. Serial killers are absolutely terrifying for me. They will never be entertaining. I also didn't watch any 3xK. So there's my story. Nothing personal to those who enjoy the genre. My in-laws, however, love them (hubs' dad was in the sheriff's dept) and I have to record their shows and run the DVR for them when they visit - I actually had nightmares after sitting through an episode of Criminal Minds with them. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/18634-away-from-the-12th-precinct-the-cast-in-other-roles/page/6/#findComment-1650047

Definitely need to make time for 1 & 2 some day. I think timing really factors into the success and failure of a TV show or a movie. Firefly was ahead of the geek revolution that would really take root a few years later. And with shows like Lost becoming mainstream, there was more scope on network shows to explore more fantastical worlds. Brett Dalton is not a leading man...... I don't watch Agents of SHIELD so can't say how Dalton is in other roles, but he came across as very bland for me in that trailer. The trailer as a whole was quite blah. Stana was okay, but she seems to be playing the generic 'friend' character. A bit weird that someone pointed out that her husband is also in the trailer. The best thing about this film may end up being beautiful Italy. :P Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/18634-away-from-the-12th-precinct-the-cast-in-other-roles/page/6/#findComment-1998900

TWP February 26, 2016 Share February 26, 2016 The Tourist will be sort of interesting when it comes to cable. I like Brett Dalton in Agents of Shield, but it's true. Unless the trailer is misleading, he doesn't possess the indescribable charisma of a leading man. It's not looks, which he certainly has. It's something else, something that Deniro, Washington, Hanks, and even icky Tom Cruise have, but Dalton lacks. Of course, the problem could be the director, too. Stana was interesting as the side kick, although half the time I couldn't understand what she was saying. Was she told to talk so fast or was that her contribution to the part? At least she doesn't have the bad NY accent and overacted tough lady bad-assedness she donned in CBGB. Less is most definitely more, sometimes. I don't know why some actors hit the right note, while others don't. Again it's an indescribable something, but you know it when you see it. The cinematography was beautiful. I'll watch for that and fast forward through that contact soccer/gladiator game they feature. I look forward to Stana's other movie trailers. Those seem more interesting, for me. Does anyone want to see it end with Senator Beckett and literary novelist Richard Castle living in New York with their 3 kids, or would that feed too much into Crazy Castle's wild theories? I don't mind a little magical realism, in small, subtle doses. They laid it on with a trowel in this week's episode, but I sorta like the time travel guy, and Beckett making the coffee stain on the letter. It is kind of funny how a good number of fans (including myself) are going, "wellll, that wasn't great, but since the alternative is worse, I'll take it!" One would almost think that fans' knowing Beckett could have been killed off in S9 ended up being a boon to TPW and Hawley. Then again, given their silence amidst all the backlash in recent weeks, I guess they would rather have gotten that S9 greenlit no matter what. I'd love to see him play a father again or a dark character or a charismatic big screen version of Castle/Mal, or a dream superhero/video game character. I don't think either Castle lead will jump back into the grind of an hour long 20+ episode network drama anytime soon, if ever. Maybe Nathan will move into comedy but I actually really love his dramatic work. 14 minutes ago, KaveDweller said: It was actually Stana's character saying "I don't do guns" when the male lead tried to give her one. It just sounded strange to me, broader... And I thought they put a lot of the film into the trailer already. I think I was more interested in The Rendezvous when I thought it was this introspective, serious indie set in Jordan. Now it looks more like a light hearted action adventure romp in Jordan, which might prove less appealing to me, if it really is like a poor man's version of The Da Vinci Code. Her other film which sounds more serious might have more potential. But serious or funny, it depends on if the writing and acting can make it work. I do remember Stana from The Closer. I think she would be good at playing that sort of character again, on the big screen or small. I even found it believable coming from her, which says a lot when you think of how much Beckett loved talking about guns. You're right. Still ironic, still Lee Lofland would agree ;-). Edit: Still think the movie will be entertaining too. Fun watch. femmefan1946 May 21, 2016 Share May 21, 2016 There's a flurry of interest in having NF in the new Star Trek series. With fans writing to CBS. The program is slated for 2017. http://www.scifiob.com/sfob-blog/rumor-mill-nathan-fillion-new-star-trek-captain Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/18634-away-from-the-12th-precinct-the-cast-in-other-roles/page/6/#findComment-2265430

But I suspect that even if they made an actual offer, he wouldn't do it. Except for the pilot, the show will be on CBS' experimental subscription channel. I think the idea of playing captain on a show that could get cancelled in a short time (this time because people refuse to pay for the channel) is too glaringly similar to something that's happened in the past, ahem. Just don't make him wear a brown coat, and maybe he'd take a chance :-). Of course, if CBS' new channel fails, they could always bring Star Trek to their broadcast channel, but would have to rename it "NCIS: Space" ;-). Of course, he also implied that he doesn't want to be typecast ;-). But maybe he meant as writer or PI, not as captain. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/18634-away-from-the-12th-precinct-the-cast-in-other-roles/page/6/#findComment-2268108
westwingfan May 28, 2016 Share May 28, 2016 Are TV Line just trying to cash in on any lingering interest in all things Castle or have they heard something? The Americans has been renewed for two more seasons, which apparently will be the last. There are only 13 episode seasons, so less demanding, and the show is filmed in NYC and I read a rumour a few months ago that Stana's assitant was apartment hunting in NY. Probably more a case of TV Line flying a kite than any real substance, but you never know, and Stana putting on her Eastern European accent would be a treat.
