What's so tragic is her sister is talking about how many times they talked about her seeking treatment, going so far as to pack her bag and her sister planning on going with her into the program only for her fear of how it would affect her image and her brand to stop her.  She's someone that had support and had the means to seek help but because of the stigma she still felt was around mental illness, she was too afraid to.  Even sadder, I think she was wrong about how people would have reacted if news got out.

Oh, as a Floridian, this hurts my heart! I know people in other states and countries use regular limes if key limes aren’t available, but here in Florida, this is food heresy, LOL. Obviously, if you absolutely have to use regular limes, it can’t be helped. But you might want to check first to see if you can find bottled key lime juice.

While I have you here can I ask if the use of condensed milk is legitimate?

All the recipes I see use condensed milk but I remember Giada and Bobby sneering at it once on Food Network Star.

Be careful, there is a difference between condensed milk and evaporated milk

Quote

Condensed milk is cow's milk from which water has been removed. It is most often found in the form of "sweetened condensed milk" ("SCM") , with sugar added, and the two terms - "condensed milk", "sweetened condensed milk" - are often used interchangeably today.[1] Sweetened condensed milk is a very thick, sweet product which when canned can last for years without refrigeration if not opened. Condensed milk is used in numerous dessert dishes in many countries.

A related product is evaporated milk, which has undergone a more complex process and which is not sweetened. Evaporated milk is known in some countries as unsweetened condensed milk

I've never made Key Lime pie but I have made a lemon dessert that had a similar consistency and wasn't that far off in flavor that used sweetened condensed milk and worked very well.  (Sadly I lost the recipe.  So bummed.  It was excellent)

The Washington Post notification of Anthony Bourdain's death was the first thing I saw when I woke up this morning, and it gutted me. I learned so much from watching his shows and he taught us a lot about being open-minded, kind and respectful while traveling the world. I was watching clips from his shows this morning and I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that he's gone.

The headlines all said he'd died and that was sad since i'd watched No Reservations and some of his other shows often, but the way he ate and drank and that he was 61, I figured he'd died of a heart attack.  Then I heard on a CNN clip he'd hung himself.  It was like a gut punch.

John Lasseter to leave Disney and Pixar at the end of the year
DEVAN COGGAN  June 08, 2018 at 07:13 PM EDT

John Lasseter, the chief creative officer of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, will depart the company at the end of the year.

The studio announced Friday that after a leave of absence, Lasseter will take on a consulting role with the company before leaving at the end of 2018.

The Pixar co-founder, who helped shepherd global Disney hits like Toy Story and Frozen, announced in November that he would be taking a six-month sabbatical, following several allegations of misconduct. At the time, he acknowledged “missteps” and apologized to “anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of an unwanted hug or any other gesture they felt crossed the line in any way.”

Lasseter’s leave of absence coincided with an article published in The Hollywood Reporter, in which Lasseter was accused of “grabbing, kissing, making comments about physical attributes.”

Lasseter’s departure comes days before Incredibles 2, on which Lasseter served as a producer, hits theaters on June 15.

It breaks my heart that people feel they have no other option in the world than to commit suicide. I'm not criticising their actions - I can only imagine the torment they were going through, but it's so tragic that they didn't get the opportunity to see how important they are to other people and how missed they will be.

I can't stop thinking about their children.  Kate Spade left a 13 year old daughter, and Anthony Bourdain left an 11 year old daughter.  My father didn't kill himself, but disappeared (as in called to say he was on his way home Friday afternoon and never showed.  Full on missing person reports filed, etc.) when I was 12.  Having to come to terms with him leaving us that way left a huge mark, and dictated a lot of behavior I had with men early in my dating life.  I know that they are in terrible pain, think it's for the best, and have convinced themselves that people will be better off without them - but it's just not true.

In more light hearted news they are bringing 4 poisonous snakes into school for the kindy kids to observe next week as part of a presentation about reptiles.

They'll also get to pet the harmless snakes, turtles and lizards.

See nothing to be scared of! Come visit Aus!

I heard that earlier in the day, animal control had put live traps on the roof with food, so I think the plan was for the raccoon to find its way into one and stay put until people can get to him. He'll probably get released back into the wild and hopefully not climb any more buildings.

Aw honey I'm sorry. You'll get there in the end. I believe we all do, we just take different lengths of time to do it.

Some hope for Lucifer...

Amazon Studios Boss On How ‘The Expanse’ Was Saved & Would Amazon Also Rescue ‘Lucifer’
by Nellie Andreeva • June 11, 2018

In one of the feel-good stories this upfront, The Expanse was picked up by Amazon just days after Syfy opted not to renew the sci-fi drama series for a fourth season.

As part of an interview with Deadline, new Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke shared the wild behind-the-scene story on how the quick rescue was pulled off and revealed whether the streaming platform is interested in another recently canceled genre drama series with a cult following, Lucifer, as well as Norman Lear’s comedy pilot Guess Who Died, which didn’t go to series at NBC.

“We were talking about Lucifer,” Salke said during the interview held last Thursday. “I know that international, especially the UK group, was really bullish on that show, I haven’t checked in on that today (Thursday), but I heard conversations were ongoing on that yesterday.”

Complicating possible negotiations is the fact that Hulu has U.S. SVOD rights to Lucifer’s first two seasons, which will need to be worked out by the series’ possible new home.

'Lucifer' Star Reveals the Drop Dead Date to Save the Show
By NICOLE DRUM - June 9, 2018
http://comicbook.com/dc/2018/06/09/lucifer-canceled-renewed-streaming-time-running-out/

Quote

Lauren German, who plays Detective Chloe Decker in the series, appeared at Oz Comic-Con in Melbourne, Australia this weekend alongside costar Lesley-Ann Brandt (Mazikeen) and during the Lucifer panel told fans about how much the "#SaveLucifer" campaign means, but also let them know that there is only one more week before the show is gone for good.

"It's beautiful. I can't tell you guys how hard it is to hear that the show is ending and then she and I come out here and see all of you and then online the hashtags and the petitions being signed and the campaigns that are going," German said. "We don't know that stuff's gonna happen. It just pops up and it's just, you know it's heartwarming, it's amazing and I don't know if all of you know basically you know Fox has cancelled us, so we won't be happening on Fox, but there's a chance that a streaming network might pick us up and that would have to happen by June 16th. It's like we can't contractually audition for anything until June 16th and then, sadly, we are free to go after that. So, we're just praying, praying it happens."

I need help again! Can you pretty please look at this picture and tell me what these earrings look like to you when you look at them.

Spoiler

Hubby says they look like insect wings which took the wind right out of my sails as I have been wanting a pair like this for a while. They are supposed to be leaves!!!!!!!!

I immediately see leaves. With the white (or pink?) pair I can sort of see what your husband sees but I still saw leaves first (and if I hadn't read your spoiler tag I don't think I'd have seen the other at all) and the green I only see leaves.

The way the pink ones are cut make me think of leaves.

The colour of the green ones are like leaves but the cut makes me think of insect exoskeletons.

If you wear the earrings with a necklace or hair ornaments that have a leaf or plant theme, people will see them as leaves.

(Insects are not bad though. I have a dozen sets of animal earings that I wore when I was younger or working with young kids. )

Thank you very much lovely ladies! I have my eye on a clear white pair. It's a lovely translucent clear jade! Seller has lots of stock going in and out so I will keep an eye out for a pair that doesn't look too much like insects!

Although I am tempted by the green too.....green leaves are pretty.....

I totally saw leaves! What do men know :P

He does come up with some enlightening observations sometimes (like the time I asked him about a jade bangle I wanted and he said it looked like taro).

For the most part yes he totally lacks imagination! He's always so skeptical of my projects and then when I am finished with them it's like "OMG I wish I was your wife so you could have designed that ring for me."

*sigh* I would have made someone a great husband!

HBO just announced they won’t be at Comic Con this year. Not even offsite. Marvel also won’t be attending.

This means DC and Fox should have all the fun in that entertainment vacuum.

Nooo! Why not?!? I need HBO to be there so I can watch the Westworld panel and they can explain to me WTF is happening on that show. I'm beginning to understand so many things with each new episode but also I'm confused by a lot of things with each new episode. Heh.

oh dear I am stressed to hear this!

Hubs and I are saving all of it to watch while we are on holidays! Is it very confusing? We are like SUPER simple people so this is worrying!!!!!!

Hehe we watched S1 of 12 Monkeys and then by S2 we had NO IDEA what was going on and had to give it up! Like between the two of us we could not work it out! Thick as mince!

I'm guessing when HBO decided not to send Game of Thrones* they didn't feel like one Con connected show would be worth it and pulled them both.  Starz also announced that they won't be returning either and, while I don't care about Outlander, I am disappointed that we won't get any info on American Gods.  Still plenty of stuff to do but we'll have to hope that the other cons get some representation so we can get our scoops.

*Would have been nice to know that last year WAS the last year.  I would have tried harder to get into Hall H but I expected this to be the last one.  Thanks, HBO.

Watch Westworld @Mellowyellow! Don't be deterred by its constant need to screw with its viewers' brains! Lol. But, really, it is a great show with an interesting concept and usually fantastic acting, writing, directing, cinematography, effects, etc. Also, avoid spoilers and let the show tell you things as you go along. I don't read any spoilers/theories and any other online discussion about it, until the end of the season, 'cause I feel like the not knowing enhances my viewing experience more. I find it fun when my mind gets blown. It's great to binge-watch, actually, since the weekly wait for each new episode kind of makes me nutty.

I have seen all of season one!!!! It's S2 that we are hoarding! We understood S1 well enough and LOVED LOVED LOVED it!

Is S2 extra confusing? heheh I was worried we'll start S2 and have NO IDEA what's going on!

S2 isn't extra confusing. It's just Westworld confusing. Heh. It starts off a little puzzling but you'll get it, after a while, with all the timelines, just like in s1. I hope you don't mind subtitles because some of the best episodes of s2, so far, have been the ones that are about 90% subtitles!

Just to add to that, SHE (girl power) was looked over and while a bit skinny, was deemed healthy.  She ate two large tins of cat food, drank a lot of water and then was released that day on a private property that has a large green lawn and abutts against a good sized wooded area.  (She is now a suburban/country raccoon - the ones I see out in my part of the country south of the Twin Cities are fat and happy)  I watched the video of her release and she bolted right for the treeline.

I had the opposite reaction.  I first glanced at them and thought leaves but then the pink one immediately looked to me like I was looking at the back of a beetle.  But that's in part because of my perspective.  When they are worn I don't think people looking at them vertically would reach the same thought BUT if they did, I wouldn't have a problem with it.  I think even if they were supposed to be beetles, it would look great.  Reminds me of the Egyptian Scarabs.  And I love the way insect wings look, all gossamer and gorgeous.

Ahhh thanks for the warning!

One last question I promise! When you say subtitles do you mean because the audio is hard to understand or because there is another language in play? Can you tell me which ep so I can check and make sure my subtitles are working? We will be overseas so I want to get this sorted in case we are stuck with no subtitles when we need them!

It's because there's another language that is dominant in the episode so the subtitles should be part of it and you probably won't need closed captions. (But, personally, CCs are always good to put on 'cause I miss stuff, sometimes.) It's for the majority of Episode 5 (Akane no Mai), some of Episode 6 (Phase Space), and the majority of Episode 8 (Kiksuya). The episodes are about those characters and their stories/how it connects everything to Westworld/Delos.
