"What do you call pancakes in England?" "Roundy-yums." "Really?" "No."

I enjoyed the absurdity of Schmidt not knowing how to do laundry, trying to put quarters in the lint trap, etc., and Winston not knowing how to read a ruler. That's just the kind of silliness that makes this show so enjoyable to me. Jess was pretty cute trying to avoid the English guy too. I love all the quick flashbacks they do, like Jess running away from the English guy in the hallway, and of course, whenever they show college Nick and Schmidt, that's always a hoot too.

Coach is still pretty much a fifth wheel on this show though. He had some funny bits, but overall I'd still have to say he's an unnecessary addition to the cast.

Was that Lisa Bonet?

Yes! I thought Coach was going to try to sleep with her.

Jess sitting on the bed after she told English guy (what's his name?) she had a crush on him saying "Oh my god" in absolute embarrassment and worry followed by Coach saying "Oh my god" after he hurled in the bucket was the best part.

I'm assuming something's going to go wrong between English guy and Jess to split them up and that's too bad. He's got them joint bank account eyes.

"You weren't born that way, were you?"

"Born not knowing how to do laundry? Like everyone else? Yes Winston, I was."

I too was surprised that Coach wasn't interested in Lisa Bonet. I wonder if she'll be in a future ep.

I loved Coach's safe-sex lesson plan - "Lie to them and say 'Condoms feel good?' Um, maybe tell them about my buddy who has bumps on his thing? Maybe bring up Magic Johnson. Maybe bring up Kobe Bryant."

I also liked when his new friend Ted was giving him his email address, calling the last part "guh-mail dot com."

I feel like this episode was kind of a train wreck. Ned and Lisa Bonet were good, but that's about it (and there wasn't enough of either of them).

I hope the writers have some kind of big twist coming for British Ryan, because he's a complete caricature of a "perfect guy" for now. Like I get that him being so perfect is the joke and the story right now, but he's not even perfect in an interesting way. Sexy accent? Check. Sexy stubble? Check. Shared interests? Check (down to scrapbooking and yarn. COME ON.). Still heterosexual despite those interests? Check, somehow. Willing to put up with Jess acting like a total psychopath around him despite having all the attributes that should have women hammering down his door? Check, somehow finds it charming. How is Jess's behavior at all appealing? Because TV, that's why. Dermot Mulroney and Justin Long played versions of an "idealized" guy for Jess, but their characters weren't nearly so paint-by-numbers.

The Coach stuff was garbage, except for Ned. Love Damon Wayons Jr, but he didn't have a lot to work with. The Winston/Schmidt/Nick stuff was cute, but it wasn't that funny. I think I only really laughed at the "Permanent Press" joke because Nick gives the perfect "sloppy guy" answer and Jake Johnson can make that funny in his sleep.

Ha, on tonight's episode of Arrow, adult Oliver in Hong Kong admitted that he didn't know how to do laundry! I will grant that his excuse was being a spoiled rich brat so it's not surprising that he had never done laundry in his life since he had a staff to do that, but I still buy Schmidt not knowing how to do it either. Too many kids have parents who have do their laundry for them until they move out. I could totally see Schmidt bringing all his laundry home from college to have his mom do it for him.

I was this close to checking out of this show after the 'let's make having [fake] meth all weird and awkward, causing the whole cast to be too stupid to function' episode.  But I really liked this one.

The pull away shot of the sheet tent filled with the guys drinking Sangria (I want to be the orange), the cheesy 80's songs and the rousing shout of "Boys Night" had me giggling way longer than it should have.

"What do you call pancakes in England?" "Roundy-yums." "Really?" "No."

As did this.

And Winston measuring things. (Do I really start here? Or there? It's so confusing.)  And Ned and guh-mail - loved that.

It was nice to see Lisa Bonet.

This felt like old New Girl, complete with a too good to be true guy for Jess.

Good episode.

I thought this was really funny.  I rewound and watch several times the "can't pronounce February" scene.  It's so goofy and fun.  This show was so painfully unfunny for awhile there, I have almost forgotten to listen carefully for all the quick, quiet follow up lines, but in several episodes this year, they have been really really funny.  Add me to the list of people that laughed hard at "guh-mail".

I really liked this episode too! Jess and the Brit were adorable together, and the guys bonding weekend was awesome!

I had a really hard time believing Schmidt, who prides himself on his appearance, does not know how to do laundry. But otherwise I enjoyed the Schmidt/Nick/Winston scenes. Nick really IS the cutest

This is the only thing that bugged me!  I was waiting for somebody to say "Ok if you don't do laundry EVER, how do you always have clean clothes?"  Like, maybe his mom lives nearby and he takes them to her house every weekend or he takes them to a laundry service.  But I just needed one little throwaway line to explain it!  Ah well.

For me, I didn't need a throwaway line to tell me Schmidt, as he's been established, uses a laundry service or most of his clothes are dry clean only or whathaveyou. I think that fits his personality quite well so I was fine surmising it from the rest of what was shown.

Welp we can agree to disagree on that point.

I thought the cast gelled together well in this episode and it was MUCH, much better than last week. Maybe it was the lack of Cece so Schmidt could actually have his own storyline again that does not have to do with pining after her.

Here's hoping that even if Jess does eventually break up with Ryan that he sticks around in some capacity. Because of reasons.

this may be an unpopular opinion, but i think Coach and Jess have the best chemistry on the show. (not romantically, but in a friendly and comedic way)

high points

- "you ballet flat wearing piece of Oregon trash"

- the Preacher's Wife references.

- Jess's red dress was gorgeous.

- "i can't say the alphabet unless i'm singing the song, and i never learned how to love"

- Schmidt's singing.

- the boys labeling themselves as if they were in a boyband.

- Jess x the Brit. i ship it.

- Coach saying "i have the mouth sweats". that's a real thing, y'all.

basically, i just loved this episode. obviously.
