Connor eating at the sink is starting to get on my nerves.

Same.  I don't find it quirky, it's just dumb.

Anyway my three word review of this episode 'no, no, no'.  I admit it gave me a few smiles but there were no laughs and it made no sense.

Criminal activity aside, I thought Meemaw's most egregious behavior in this episode was trying to use George's memory to get info on the football team from Coach Wilkins.

I do understand where MeeMaw was coming from in terms of wanting to make a lot of money fast but using George as a way to get info from the football coach was just awful.

Georgie called Dale Mr Ballard. Didn't he used to call him Dale in Young Sheldon?  Not the most important thing in the world, just thought it odd.

And I guess threatening to tell the wife is better than breaking someone's legs, but maybe Connie should just bet on games instead of running her own thing.  Did she not learn her lesson from before?

Nothing but more fighting.

This.  But what I particularly hated was them resurrecting my least favourite storyline from YS, which was the MeeMaw gambling one.  I disliked it on YS and, if anything, it's worse now.  Not only is MeeMaw a bookie, she's going to people's houses and threatening them?  Oh sure it's supposed to be funny because the threat is "I'll tell his wife".  But, to me, it's not funny.  It's criminal behavior.  And I really hope this is a one trick pony type thing and Mandy does not stay involved with this.

Agree!  I had hoped Meemaw's gambling room AND Mandy were one trick pony type things, but nooo, here we are with a show that is proving to be the worst of YS.

Georgie didn't 'struggle' to keep a secret, he rolled over and sang on the second question. I hope Mandy learns to not tell him any one else's secrets.

Sheldon wouldn't have lasted even that long; he would have insisted that Mandy not tell him any secrets.  Of the three siblings, apparently Missy got 99% of the secret-keeping ability.

Chuck Lorre has a show on Max titled “Bookie.” So…? Product placement…?

Maybe relevant information:
At the time of the setting of the show, all betting in the U.S. was a Federal offense.

Using the quote box because tl;dr

California (where I presume the show is written) and Texas are 2 of the 11 states where sports betting is still illegal (investopedia.com/sports-betting-laws-by-state-5219064).
Gambling is currently legal Federally, but not State-wide, so, the opposite of marijuana laws, and further complicated by type of betting (wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambling_in_the_United_States#Legality).
I’m in a state where it’s legal, so my OTA TV stations occasionally show PAs for helplines for gambling addiction.

I hope Meemaw gets out of the business without going to jail again.
{Sigh}
But since Bookie is also in its second season, maybe this plot line was planned from the beginning and has something to do with the “First” part of this show’s title? Is this related to the plot line of Mandy’s credit card debt?
{Ugh}
Are the viewers supposed to enjoy betting on who goes to jail???

Interesting theory but I think Lorre has just latched onto gambling as a theme. I'm not sure product placement is his motive. I watched "Bookie" and it was a great show but unfortunately it has been canceled after its second season. It's sad because it was actually a much better show than this is. I don't think it got enough promotion.

Lorre seems to be losing his touch.  Most of his shows (or to be more accurate the shows of his I've watched) seem to go for multiple seasons.  Lately though that hasn't been happening.  And if Georgie and Mandy keep on with the kind of episode this one was I can't see it breaking any records

Yeah I've noticed that. I watched "Bob Hearts Abishola" too and liked it but it had its weaknesses especially as the seasons wore on. I think part of the problem is that he's not as in touch with what audiences want to see but the other problem is what he can get networks to air. It's probably not as easy for him to do what he wants. I think this show might suffer from that effect. I wonder if the network made him change a few things to suit them. Bookie was great but it's ridiculous how it wasn't promoted at all. Did Max want it to fail?

I'm still wondering why, when YS already had Mary, Missy, and Meemaw, the writers decided to name Georgie's girlfriend Mandy.  Maybe another example of "we think more about this show than the writers do."

Probably, but…

I just realized that Ceecee, whose real name is Constance, and who is named after Connie (Constance), has an uncle named Connor.

I wonder why the writers didn't choose a less-similar name for Connor.

…now I’m hoping they didn’t name him Connor because they’re going to kill off Meemaw for ratings in a series wrap with a HIMYM-type flashforward to a school-age Ceecee being told by Grandma Audrey that she was named for Connor because it’s so sad 😭

This one has been renewed for a second season, and I'm enjoying it fine compared to non-Chuck Lorre sitcoms.

The only other current sitcom I watch is Ghosts (which is not for everyone but IMO is head and shoulders above this show).  But that said you're right, I tried some of the news shows and much as I have issues with Georgie & Mandy I am still watching as opposed to the others.

Memaw appeared in The Big Bang Theory.

On the other hand they've changed so much from the way the Cooper family was established originally I guess they wouldn't stop at killing off MeeMaw if they thought it would make for a good episode!  Personally I really don't think they'd go there though.  I hope.

They've never changed anything like that. They've shown us some different perspectives on scenes, and very mildly retconned a few things, but no significant life event has ever been changed.

Bottom line: There's no way MeeMaw dies.

Young Sheldon almost became Old Meemaw from the amount of time given to her so I doubt they'd kill her off.

Also, although I know BBT is not being respected at canon by the writers   I don't think they'd stick with killing off George because it was made clear he died when Sheldon was 14 but kill off MeeMaw who was mentioned numerous times over the course of the series as being alive and well.

She showed up in BBT so I don't think they'd go there.
