S06.E10: Nothing is Impastable

They opened tonight's episode by showing the ending of last week's lunch debacle in London.  Amy, who had left the lunch in a huff, returned at Chris's urging, and everything was back to normal like nothing happened.  Tammy and Amanda buried the hatchet, and all now seems well between them.

Back in the states, we saw the family go to a self-defense class.  Obviously, a producer-driven storyline.

Chris finally finished the yellow house so Tammy could move in.  It was said that Tammy lived with Chris for six months.

Amy decided to set up a dating profile.  She mused about what kind of guy she'd like to date after doing a boudoir photo shoot.  She said she wants a guy who's "tall, dark, and handsome--preferably with teeth." 🫤

Chris had his skin removal surgery.  He looks great.  I wish they had shown more about this, like what he had to deal with during recovery.  Maybe that will be in the next season.

Well, Tammy had her consultation with the doctor in Pittsburg about her skin removal surgery.  Although he was not opposed to her having the surgery, she learned she couldn't have it yet because, first, her protein was low (it will take two months to raise it), and secondly, she vapes.  The doctor said those two things have to be rectified or it will compromise the wound healing.  The episode (season) ended with Tammy at home being pissed and depressed about the delay.  She left the room with her mic on and they aired the sound of her vaping off-camera.

By the way, they only showed a couple of seconds of her reaction to the doctor telling her about the delay, but her mouth turned down in a scowl and she turn her head to Amy and Misty who were in the room with her.  They cut off the scene at that point.  I hope she didn't have another childish temper tantrum in front of the Pittsburg doctor.  The fact that they cut it off makes me think it wasn't too pleasant in that room.

Before tonight's episode, there was a clip show where the siblings discussed their favorite clips and they also commented on various social media posts about the show

Yes, and hour called Clapback.  I could only endure less than half of it.
I haven't finished the whole new show yet, but glad Tammy's out of Brittany's house.
Haven't finished the new episode yet.  Is this the last season?

Thanks for that recap! Fell asleep again during commercials.

I had a strong sense that smoking (I didn't figure vaping though) was going to be Tammy's secret jeopardizing the skin removal surgery. I am embarrassed to admit it was Angela's frequent surgeries (of 90 Day fame) that clued me in to this. She could never give up her smokes.  Hope Tammy does, but it is possible that it is an addictive crutch she feels she needs.  She will have extensive wound healing to deal with for next several years in the various round of removal process. Maybe it is the holiday season talking but I really wish her fortitude to accomplish this.

I don't know if we know yet.  I looked at the ratings on Wikipedia, and for the 2023 season, Tammy's wedding got 1.47 million viewers.  The other episodes for the 2023 season got numbers ranging from 1.2 to 1.3 million.  This season, Wikipedia only has the first two episodes' ratings which are both less than a million.  The premier was .65 million and the second episode was .78 million.  So, depending if TLC can make a profit with that, we may or may not see another season.

The producers will never voluntarily end this show as long as the network buys it, and advertisers pay to run ads on it.

Since it's 'reality tv' the family members may be on salary for the season, and no residuals.   Making it cheaper than other network shows to produce.

But the network won't renew it when it's no longer profitable, and the show seems to be losing viewers, at least when you compare 2023 to 2024.  Viewership has dropped almost 50%.  Fewer viewer of the show equals fewer viewers for the commercials.  But maybe TLC can still make a profit on it, who knows.

Keeping viewers interested is probably why Chris's skin removal, Tammy's vaping, and other things are cliff hangers.    ANd why Amanda went to Florida, and they didn't mention anything else about her.   I'm wondering with other things is their lives will be highlighted to get viewers?  I'm betting everything will be a crisis, just as always on reality shows.

While Chris was rehabbing, I bet Brittany was Tammy's chauffeur and everything else.

Tammy better keep that house up, it's lovely, and doesn't deserve to be trashed.  I love everything they did in the yellow house.  LVP was a fantastic choice because it's not a trip hazard, and totally waterproof.

Tammy's vaping is a huge concern.  However, is she still diabetic?   If she is the healing process will be very slow.

Long time watcher of this sh**show and My 600 Lb Life.  No way Tammy should be get approved for skin removal. She has had huge weight loss, but is still about 100 pounds from her goal. Dr. Now would say "I'm very proud of you, but you need to lose more before skin removal".

Plus her failure to follow diet (low protein) and her vaping absolutely would disqualify her.

Most importantly, her childish responses and attitude are heinous. She's a grown woman who pouts and avoids every grown up conversation and issue. Her family, especially Chris are huge enablers and are doing her no favors by always coming to her rescue.

Time to woman up Tammy and be an adult like the rest of us.

Tammy needs life skills classes.  I find it annoying when grown people who have health issues say they don’t eat certain things because they didn’t feel like it. WTH?  So what?  Grown people prioritize their health and consume the nutrients they need so their bodies can be strong and healthy.  Eating for pleasure is irrelevant.  So, a grown asp woman can’t manage a couple of eggs, a chicken breast and a little cottage cheese a day?  Ridiculous.  Her full time job should be staying healthy.  The woman has a major self destructive streak.

So, Amanda had bariatric surgery, lost weight, then skin surgery, AND then regained the weight?  Omg, that’s tough.  It sounds like a hardcore eating disorder.  None of them seem to be in treatment for it.  Which means relapse eventually, right?

Why did the producers take the time, trouble, and money to send the family and crew to London, and then barely show any of it?  There was only one London episode and about 10 minutes at the beginning of the next episode and then boom--they were back home.  You'd think there would be at least two or three full episodes of London adventures.

I wondered this , too. The footage was very underwhelming. Other than random quick cuts of landmarks, and some food, they could've been anywhere.  The bonus scene showed them getting dressed up in Medieval outfits and getting their picture taken on the sidewalk. Was a cute scene, and Chris' enthusiasm was, as usual, a delight, but again, could've been anywhere.

I'd guess Tammy.  Maybe the cabbie and other people hired to take them around got fed up with them.
But has anyone looked at the 2 Inside the Episode ones?  An example of no there, there.

Once I realized it was just watching them do crafts (badly) between mostly already viewed scenes while making their usual sex and fart jokes, I fast forwarded through nearly all of it.  They even seemed completely bored by themselves.

Do you suppose these slots were there because they came back from London sooner than planned, and they had to give TLC something?
That would explain the quickie trip with nothing much to show.
I can totally see Tammy throwing a fit if she had to walk, or climb a stair.
