It irritates when there is a good discussion going and she says they have to stop talking about it, obsessing about it because we just have to wait and see. She rules the table with an iron hand. And PLEASE stop with the "you all in the audience look so familiar to me." Please just stop. If the topic is beneath her, she looks at the audience, makes a bored face and rolls her eyes. Rude. I think it's her entitled attitude. She has probably been like this most of her life. Her way or the highway. Add the awe and adulation that come with her "stardom," and she has become impossible. As for each "familiar audience," can she please keep the worn-out "comedy" within the studio? She could mention it when the cameras aren't on; the only people enjoying it are Whoopi and each audience who sits through two shows. Great points, Debbie311. Also, if Whoopi isn't familiar with a topic or doesn't understand it, then she pretends it's beneath her. The eyes start to roll and her face wants to fall on the desk. She's SO MUCH BETTER than the rest of us? NO! SHE is a bore! I hope someone has told her to STOP BARKING at Alyssa...at least until Alyssa's medical procedures are completed. 4 3 Link to comment

Give it a rest WG. And while you are at it, consider freshening up everything about your on-screen presence: your opinions, catchphrases, appearance, clothing, and interactions with your co-workers and the audience. Pause before speaking. Try some new ideas, such as a discrete private tutor to make up for the formal education you missed and to keep you up to speed with current events. Reconsider your insatiable need to have all guests and co-hosts KYA constantly. And most importantly, as Patti LaBelle said, get a new attitude. 3 Link to comment

Nothing to do with her saying that back pain isn't an excuse for murder, LOL or no LOL. Not sure in the slightest how her bank account has anything at all to do with it. Murder is wrong, period. A medical diagnosis doesn't excuse you. Mollywolly555 December 12 Share December 12 I'm guessing that Joy's wealth and fame and contacts among her wealthy friends will get her whatever meds or medical procedure she might desire or need asap. Which is in contrast to the rest of us with or without insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, etc., at the mercy of health care providers of varying abilities, our preexisting conditions, and all the rigamarole of paperwork, phone calls, and wait time required for getting approved to access necessary care. Thus the economic class reference to her reference about "Everybody's got back pain. " Not excusing her casual, very insensitive comment. 3 Link to comment

Back pain and pain in general a lot of times can't be easily diagnosed or even proven to be true. So a lot of people who say they are in pain are thought to be drug seeking. The shooter's back pain was related to a specific disease that is rare in younger people. I wouldn't doubt he wasn't believed at first. 12 hours ago, Mollywolly555 said: Not excusing her casual, very insensitive comment. Her comment was insensitive because when talking about the shooter being in pain it wasn't to excuse why he did what he did but rather to explain why he did what he did what he did. And isn't that what we all want to know? His motive? Or would Joy rather believe he just shot someone because it was Tuesday? 1 Link to comment

I have not seen Annie, and it could very well be true that Whoopi is a stellar performance artist with a commanding presence who fully inhabits her role. But as a talk show moderator, WG has been out and out inept in a high-profile job for more than a decade. It could very well be true that as an actor and performer, Whoopi truly inhabits her roles, and is an exemplary performer. But being a moderator is not her thing. I do note that WG seemed gracious and that all of the gushing compliments seemed to give her extra vitality. I would feel the same way. 5 1 Link to comment

I know what's it like to live paycheck to paycheck. . . and I feel that I missed a lot of opportunity to speak to people that are experiencing what I experienced and connecting with them and understanding it and I think I spoke down to that issue. KittyQ Friday at 06:17 PM Share Friday at 06:17 PM Joy, if you are going to make comparisons, make sure they are apples to apples. According to Joy's statistics, Trump lost 200K "manufacturing jobs" but Biden created 700K "jobs". No indication of how many of those jobs were manufacturing - they could be delivery jobs or warehouse jobs. If you are calling out what types of jobs were lost, you should include those types of jobs when saying that jobs were gained. 1 Link to comment

I believe multiple people HAVE explained how insurance works to Whoopi, BUT she refuses to accept the reality because of greed or entitlement or just plain ego in her thinking that she knows better how things SHOULD work. Plus, she had to be ignoring the reality of hard numbers on her medical/ hospital bills that surely would have eclipsed her (and her family's) insurance coverage premiums over the years. It is frustrating that someone who is paid unreal millions, plus untold free perks of clothes, products, and trips, etc., would complain. I think that cataract surgery does prevent future cataracts, but doesn't address any other vision problems, near-sightedness or astigmatism, for example. I think that is right because the lens is removed, so it can't get another cataract in the medical waste bin! I got "toric" lenses after my cataract surgery - because of the particular shapes of my corneas the specialist told me I wouldn't be "glasses free" but mostly. I tried readers and found them particularly annoying so the optometrist made me glasses that progress from the reading part to nothing as they go up. Sue in her 60s Monday at 02:27 PM Share Monday at 02:27 PM Many commenters have brought up Whoopi's repeated advice to not get upset yet what Trump might do, but wait until his term starts, and live your life normally in the meantime. On the face of it, ignoring all the Trump preparations seems like head-in-the-sand behavior. After thinking about it, I wonder if, as is Whoopi's way sometimes, she was taking a little nugget of truth and expanding on it to make her sound wise. The nugget of truth is this: Trump gets off on "owning the libs." He has always used the fire hose method of sending out nominations, policy positions, etc., multiple times a day. It creates chaos and keeps everyone off balance. You can't process so much bad news every day, week after week. Rather than ignore him on one hand and go crazy on the other, maybe the better choice is to stay informed as citizens, and read or listen to the better pundits and experts in the various fields of government, but not allow Trump to disrupt our lives to the point of helplessness. Maybe that is what Whoopi was trying to convey. 2 1 Link to comment

(The nurse kept telling me I was too young. Ha! Easy peasy. If you ever need to do this it’s a piece of cake.). It did correct my nearsightedness for the most part. I don’t ~have~ to wear glasses for distance but have a pair that I wear for driving, concerts, sporting events, etc where a little tweaking helps. I do need to wear readers for close up work. I’m just happy to not have to deal with contacts anymore! Link to comment
