What intrigues me is the mystery of the kids' homeworld At Attin? Why is it considered a myth by the rest of the galaxy and why are they isolating themselves? Link to comment
Sarah 103 December 4 Share December 4 The pirate planet and the brig reminded me of the ride Pirates of the Caribbean. Overall, I enjoyed the episode and I am looking forward to seeing what happens. I wonder if we will be going back and forth between the kids' adventure and Wim's father searching for his missing son. 1 Link to comment

There's a lot of Disney influence here, including of course, SM-33. And plenty of old Star Wars references too. Edited December 4 by Mr. Sparkle 4 Link to comment
tennisgurl December 4 Share December 4 Wow, a Star Wars Holiday Special reference! The ultimate deep cut, its a Life Day miracle! The mystery deepens, at first I suspected that the pirate attack we saw in the first episode was a flashback and this is all taking place in the distant future, with this isolated planet as a New Republic hold out, but now that we've seen the pirates I'm not sure. I love this old sea dog robot with his peg leg and his mouse buddy. And now, Jude Law! 1 Link to comment
Tachi Rocinante December 4 Share December 4 So I guess he needs the kids and their ship to escape? I don't think he's a full Jedi, either. 1 Link to comment
Morrigan2575 December 5 Share December 5 Episode 1 = Goonies Episode 2 = PotC So far I'm enjoying it, I don't think Jude Law is a Jedi, possibly Force Wielder, in my wildest dreams he's Kyle Katarn. 😀 I'm very curious about At Attin, given that they have/use Old Republic credits i wonder if the whole planet was a version of Fort Knox? They are aware of the New Republic but, seem so isolated which makes me very curious. 1 Link to comment
dwmarch December 5 Share December 5 (edited) My only complaint is that this episode was so short. The first one was 45 minutes, this one was 30 or less. 4 hours ago, Morrigan2575 said: in my wildest dreams he's Kyle Katarn. I would pay actual money to see a live-action Kyle Katarn! I played Dark Forces back when it was new and the only Star Wars that existed was the OT. Edit: also could not help but note an Andor reference when SM-33 asks the kids if they are from Aldhani, which he describes as a "sulphurous bog world". Erm, that's now how I remember it... It seems they’ve been completely cut off from galactic affairs. These kids have never even seen stars. They know OF Jedi, but it seems there hasn’t been any Jedi there for quite some time. That ship was there long enough for the forest to consume it. I’m guessing at least a couple hundred years. As interested I am in the kids’ adventures, I might be more interested in this planet. And I hope we get more info. 4 Link to comment

Did i hear that wrong? 1 Link to comment

She definitely just says “Republic.” And something about the Great Work. Edited December 5 by ajsnaves 1 Link to comment
thuganomics85 December 6 Share December 6 Thought this was a pretty good improvement from the first one (which I still thought was good for what it was.) I loved that the space station almost had a pirate-like flavor to it, and seeing all the various aliens was great: especially since the kids weren't use to it due to the isolation. And while still kept the family friendly aspects, I did crack up over them discovering the entrance to what was either a strip club or a brothel. Found it interesting that Fern was the one who had an idea about what that was while, the reset seemed clueless. Ah, sweet naivety! So, it looks like the kids' planet is some kind of place that most believe doesn't actually exist and is just from stories. And it is filled with a lot of riches and treasure. I guess one could say that it is a.... Treasure Planet (sorry!) Nick Frost voicing a beaten up android with a peg leg and a mouse-like friend is pretty on point, I imagine. Jude Law shows his face for the first time as a fellow captive who have Force powers. It was brief, but I'm already digging is performance. Seems like he's going to a ball here. Curious to see where this little adventure goes next! After the prison break, of course! 1 Link to comment
Chyromaniac December 6 Share December 6 I am bracing myself for the inevitable fallout of "the eternal treasure of At Attin is our families." I'm personally fine with that as a message - kids pirate stories are almost never really about the treasure, but (cliche as it may be) the adventure along the way, contrasted by missing the safety of home. Still, I feel like loud segments of fans will lose their $#!+ if there isn't some big lore reveal - like if the core of the planet is made of Kyber Crystals or whatever. As for the pirate stuff, Apparently Jude Law's character is called Jod, and I think we can safely assume he's also "Captain Silvo" - so, Jod Silvo. I assume that means that Wim's last name is something like "Dawkins." In any case, I'm really digging the show so far - I think the mix of pirate stuff and "Amblin energy" works well with Star Wars. I think that makes sense - those 80's adventure movies were being made for, and about, kids who loved Star Wars anyway. 1 Link to comment

Skeletons, a brothel, a brig scene right out of Disney’s Adventureland, and a mythical island (planet) filled with treasure. Any guesses as to the next borrowed mandatory pirate story element? Did anyone notice a big “X” anywhere in the first episode? 😄 This is fun so far! 1 Link to comment

Yeah that was almost painfully obvious but they are clearly going for a younger demo hear so I will let that slide. When he used to force on that key it shook a lot. It reminded me of Hala over on the Obi-Wan series. I wonder if he might be using magnets rather than being an actual force user. Although he is the right age to have been a padawan or newly qualified when the temple fell. So far this show was a little slow. It felt like we spent a lot of time getting the gang together. It was cute but I am not sure it was fun enough to justify itself yet. With such a simple premise the danger could be show gets bogged down in side quests. I will keep watching for now though. SnarkShark December 15 Share December 15 There's definitely a sense that returning home (likely the season ender) will cause even bigger problems. I guess we'd been led to assume (by the early looks at the show) that Suburbia Planet is something it's not. It's not an ordinary planet. It's a secret, and the kids leaving is only going to be a problem made even worse by them leading people back. Thumbs up for this subverting expectations so quickly. 1 Link to comment

And that Wim was also really immature compared to others his age. With all the bullshit that we have seen that has gone on in the galaxy since Star Wars started, not sure I can blame a planet for isolating themselves. I really like this show though. It's fun with new characters and what seems like an all new story. I also liked the woman from the brothel who helped the girls. And it was funny that she had to ask them if they were kids. Since in Star Wars who the hell knows. Link to comment
