Xeliou66 November 16 Share November 16 The episode’s premise sounds interesting, but I’m not looking forward to even more Brady - she’s been shoved down our throats this season and she’s just not likable. I wish she would take a backseat and let the much more likable Shaw/Riley pairing do the investigating. Hope this is a strong finish to the fall season, this is the last L&O episode until January. 3 1 Link to comment

Bar Season 20, Van Buren didn't even have this much focus and I think I can count on my hands episodes where she was a major part/or had investment in. 6 Link to comment
SunnyBeBe Friday at 02:15 AM Share Friday at 02:15 AM I’m late around here, but dropped in because I like Maura Tierney so much. I’m not sure why. For some reason most of the characters she plays whine a lot. Lol! Was a fan of The Affair and American Rust. I think I like her on this show too. I’ll have to catch up in the other episodes. 6 1 Link to comment

I’m not sure why Maura Tierney decided to play this role as a literally-never-smile, zero warmth Lt. The final scenes of her testimony were good as was the Riley conversation in her office about how to make the right choice. Edited Friday at 02:40 AM by MerBearHou 12 Link to comment

Xeliou66 Friday at 05:18 AM Share Friday at 05:18 AM This was a really strong episode, very good plot even if it was somewhat predictable where it was going, still really compelling, and good stuff with both the investigation and trial. I particularly enjoyed Riley and Shaw, they both were great, their banter in the car was amusing and I also enjoyed Riley’s scene at the end with Brady. It was overly Brady heavy once again and I’m still not a big fan of her character and this episode didn’t make her look great given that she knew the perp was corrupt but didn’t say anything until it was too late, but I’m curious about the IA guy coming to her office at the end - is she going to be suspended or investigated, or is she going to be used to go after other dirty cops? Could be interesting. So while Brady hasn’t endeared herself to me really, this episode made things more interesting with her and I do appreciate that she is flawed and not perfect, unlike a certain SVU squad leader. I liked the trap they set for the perp and it caught me by surprise as well, really well executed twist. The cops in the squad who knew about the perp’s corruption and still didn’t say anything even after he smeared his dead partner as corrupt on the stand were sorry, I hope IAB goes after them and maybe that’s why the guy went to talk to Brady at the end. The one cop who was framed by the perp and still wouldn’t testify was spineless - Riley testified against the perp without hesitation, and Brady later testified as well, that dude should’ve followed their example instead of staying silent. The legal stuff was good, Price was solid, minimal Maroun and she wasn’t annoying, and Baxter was good even though he wasn’t used much - I liked the scenes discussing the case and talking about how to prosecute a decorated cop with a convicted drug dealer as their key witness. Overall this was probably the best episode of the season so far, strong plot for both investigation and trial, each character was used well, and while Brady didn’t become more likable she did become more fleshed out and interesting. Nice finish to an up and down fall season of L&O and I look forward to its return in January!! 13 3 Link to comment

blackwing Friday at 03:17 PM Share Friday at 03:17 PM I found this episode boring and predictable. I knew that Brady was going to rat out about the bribes and how her boss the old guy knew about them. Then it was clear that IA was going to investigate her for not reporting this when it was happening. Best thing about this episode was a good use of Riley, and less Maroun. 12 hours ago, MerBearHou said: Though this was Lt. Brady-heavy, I enjoyed the episode very much. She sucks joy out of the room as soon as she enters. She is always serious and never smiles. Is this because she thought she had to be hard ass to earn the respect of the men she oversaw? Were there any female cops in that squad room or at the bar? I don't think I saw any. We are already saddled with the preachy Saint Maroun. Is it too much to ask for to have a female character on this show that is jovial and likeable and gets along well with her colleagues? Now I understand why Camryn Mannheim quit... she's too good for the awful way her character (and now Maura Tierney's character) was written. 2 Link to comment

I know you didn't mean it this way, but this reminds me of walking down a street when I was younger and having guys tell me to smile. So, how about we modify it slightly and have a serious female lead who is "likeable and gets along well with her colleagues [most of the time]" and occasionally cracks a Lennie Briscoe-style joke? 5 4 Link to comment
babyrambo Friday at 05:41 PM Share Friday at 05:41 PM (edited) Really nice to see Amanda Warren from East New York. I miss that show and would like to see her star in something good again. The case was average and the fact that the other cops would rather protect a corrupt cop and keep up the facade was pathetic, but unsurprising. And while I preferred the Dixon, I don’t mind Brady. A seasoned female cop like her would probably be just as blunt and stern as she is after years of having to prove herself in a rough job like this. I like her more subdued demeanour, and her dry sense of humour. I don’t need her to be overly friendly or try hard to ingratiate herself to the others. Smiling or not, the job gets done. Plus Sam is sweet and friendly and it hasn’t seemed to have won her any fans so maybe these women can’t win. I keep wondering about her contract (?) though because it’s only been 8 episodes and she’s already more more involved than any other Lieutenant ever was. Interested to see how they use her in the future and hope her story don’t get too melodramatic. I’d like her to have a similar role to Bell in OC. Who is probably my favourite of all the current L&O bosses. Edited Friday at 05:42 PM by babyrambo 6 Link to comment
dubbel zout Friday at 06:10 PM Share Friday at 06:10 PM So did the captain get into hot water for not doing anything about the corruption? That scene outside his home after Brady testified was ambiguous to me. Nice to see that a bad cop is one place Maroun draws the line for with her sympathy for the defendants. /s I had to laugh when Price and Maroun were astonished the cop who was supposed to be the fall guy said he wouldn't testify. Why are those two always so stupid? It doesn't say much for the DA's office that this is the level of competence of its staff. Good grief. 3 Link to comment

Theli11 Friday at 08:41 PM Share Friday at 08:41 PM Great episode. Only thing was I wish this episode came way later in the season. I think we could've used a more balanced episode but I'd reckon on rewatch/syndication it wouldn't be too much. Idk if it's my favorite of the season, but it's gonna be high up there. Definitely a step up from last episode. Not sure what this means for Brady's job but I do like her and Riley's relationship, because Riley's never going to trust her. Shaw had some good moments here too and I think the twist with the storage unit worked well. 1 hour ago, paigow said: He was forced to retire without his pension... probably not moving to Arizona... Brady is just dry, that's who her character is. Van Buren seemed to have different relationships with different set of cops but she and Briscoe seemed to be good friends, while she and.. Beauty Queen seemed to have a more adversarial relationship. It depends on what the cast needs and the character that she is. Hopefully she opens up more in the future, but for now I think she's fine. I thought 2 episodes ago humanized her pretty well with her sons and didn't make her so bad. 2 hours ago, marc20 said: what do you know, L&O decides some humor is allowed in the reboot...I'm not so sure they weren't improvising because it seemed so surprising Yeah, I enjoyed that scene very much. Even funnier because they're in the car with the killer.. I wish this reboot did more detective work instead of just speaking to witnesses. They should be going through boxes, tracking people, setting traps, having wires. (They did do more of that this season) but they're gonna have to get real creative. 18 hours ago, MerBearHou said: I wouldn’t mind at all if the role was re-cast (again) but did I see Maura in a preview for the episodes after the new year? 14 hours ago, shapeshifter said: Which could still mean Brady is doing some rat work for IA prior to leaving because nobody would trust her after all that blah blah blah. Why are those two always so stupid? It doesn't say much for the DA's office that this is the level of competence of its staff. Good grief. I don't think it was stupid for them to expect him to testify. The accused may have been a cop, but he also KILLED a cop. And then tried to frame that cop murder on HIM, breaking the blue line of protecting fellow cops. So I think it was reasonable to expect the blue line that requires the punishment of cop killers and cops that break the code would be stronger than the blue line that requires the protection of other cops. These are the sorts of guys who called Price a coward for charging manslaughter in the shooting death of the cop at the end of S21, even though murder would have been impossible to prove and would have resulted in acquittal. That's even more reinforcement to him that a cop killer has to pay, no matter what. 5 2 Link to comment

MediaZone4K Saturday at 06:29 PM Share Saturday at 06:29 PM Good episode. The drug bust opening was a nice touch. Loved seeing the sergeant from CBS' East New York play the defense attorney in this episode. She might make a better lieutenant than Brady. One can only hope this storyline facilitates Brady's exit. While the horrendous blue wall can't totally be dumped on Brady, she is complicit. Interestingly enough, I don't seem to see prosecutors covering for each other as much as cops do on these legal dramas. 1 1 Link to comment

Chaser 3 hours ago Share 3 hours ago I’m an oddball I guess. I thought the episode was pretty bad. I don’t like it when I can call the episode in the first 5 mins. I’m good with the focus on the new boss lady but it felt more like how you write a character out then get to know them. Why didn’t Price push back at all to the blue wall? He just sort of huffed about. I was hoping there would be a mirror scene at the end of Brady addressing the squad again and calling them out for not standing up for the fellow Officer.
