Unfortunately that transcript isn't real (wish it were):

"That exchange did not actually take place. During a press briefing on March 17, 2025, a reporter asked Leavitt about remarks made by French Member of the European Parliament Raphaël Glucksmann, who claimed that since "the Americans...have chosen to side with the tyrants," the U.S. should return the Statue of Liberty to France.

Leavitt, in response to the reporter's question, said President Donald Trump would not be returning the monument and added "It's only because of the United States of America that the French are not speaking German right now. So they should be very grateful to our great country."

Leavitt then turned to a different reporter for the next question, and there was no further back and forth on the future of the Statue of Liberty or the history of Franco-American relations. The exchange can be watched in full below"

This sounds more realistic. WH reporters don't get away with lecturing press secretaries (altho' obnoxious Leavitt deserves it).

The protests against President Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia had been growing in intensity and size when an unusual guest showed up in its capital this month to meet with the embattled European leader: Donald Trump Jr., the oldest son of President Trump.

The quick visit by Mr. Trump, which included a meeting with Mr. Vucic to talk about U.S. foreign aid to Serbia, came as the Trump family and Jared Kushner, the American president’s son-in-law, were moving ahead with plans to build a Trump International Hotel in Belgrade, the first such property in Europe.

"Can you imagine an American president, any president, giving West Point as a gift to an offshore company, only to demolish it and build a hotel?” Aleksandar Jovanovic, a member of Serbia’s parliament, said last year as the deal was being negotiated, referencing the U.S. Military Academy.

“One would have to have a vivid imagination to imagine that. Unfortunately, what is unthinkable in America is a tragic reality in Serbia,” he said at that time.

The Trump family’s evident support of Mr. Vucic is much appreciated, the Serbian president made clear, adding that he believes it is part of the reason President Trump is so popular in Serbia.

“This was the country where Trump was enjoying the biggest popularity in the entire Europe by far,” Mr. Vucic said. “I’m not flattering him or I’m not flattering you. I’m saying what people here think.”

It’s all manipulation. For someone who claims to be so brilliant, he really should have seen that aligning himself with the party of climate deniers probably wasn’t going to be great for his electric car company. It's funny you mention that because I remember back during Trump's 1st term when Kellyann Conway, who was a top advisor at the time, had mentioned in a press conference that Americans should buy from Ivanka Trump's clothing line. And it was considered a huge deal and controversy at the time, essentially the Office of Government Ethics gave her a warning telling her not to do it again because it was an ethics violation.

Yet the president is openly promoting products and using the White House as a commercial stunt to one of his largest donors as a "favor" without anyone calling it for what it is - open corruption.

Now he's appointed this same person to a position to cut the federal government while this same person is also trying to seek the moving of contracts towards himself.

How far we've fallen smh.

Carney isn't just any liberal.  He's an economist and he knows a lot more about tariffs etc than Trump does.  Of course I admit that's probably not saying much.  The problem for Poilievre is he's spent the last couple of years echoing Trump's talking points and cosying up to the far right.  He needs his buddy, Trump, to pretend he's afraid to deal with the Cons.  That's not going over well here, so far.

I know, but the utter ignorance or stupidity of some people is just blinding!

Long before mail-in ballots were accepted, my dad used to walk to a neighbor's house & stand in line on the sidewalk to vote.  After the mental hospitals in Calif were closed, lots of those patients were assigned to care facilities operated in the big Victorian houses throughout my dad's neighborhood, & he'd find himself standing in line with some of them.  They weren't there to vote, just out for a walk in their constantly tranquilized state, saw a line formed, & went to stand in it, staring down at their shoes.  There's never been a law against them voting, should they care enough to register & brandish an ID card -- the country wouldn't necessarily be any worse off if they did.

Not denying that we are in crisis mode but, when considering the tally of failed initiatives, The Resistance is not losing as much ground as Trump/Musk would have us believe. "Perception is reality."

from the article:

On Its Website, DOGE Deletes More Than 100 Government Leases It Said Were Canceled

Elon Musk’s cost-cutting group dropped its total purported savings from eliminating federal office space after losing some battles within the Trump administration.

For weeks, Mr. Musk’s group said on its website that it had terminated more than 700 leases, and saved more than $460 million in the process.

But around 1 a.m. Wednesday, the group eliminated references to 136 of those cancellations. That reduced its savings by $140 million, or almost 30 percent of the total for lease cancellations it had claimed a day earlier.

Trump was refusing to sign required documents that said he would support the republican candidate, if it wasn't him, and he was asked whether or not he would accept the results of the election, if he didn't win. It was normalized. If anyone says "no" to that, they shouldn't be allowed to progress as a candidate. It shouldn't have even been a question, but it now is, because he didn't accept it when he lost.

And the laws that allowed for that loaded history are still on the books. The various levels of American government have stopped enforcing those laws, but never got around to passing new legislation to overturn those laws. Neither the Civil Rights Act nor the Americans with Disabilities Act were written in a way to nullify those old laws.

I know this is more of a tangent, but it baffles me that America has never passed a law to overturn Buck V. Bell. That case has been weakened over the last century, but it is still legal to sterilize people without their consent.

Germany and Britain Issue U.S. Travel Advisories

https://www.fodors.com/news/news/germany-issues-advisory-to-its-citizens-about-u-s-travel

  Quote

The crackdown on immigration ordered by the Trump administration has drawn international attention. After three Germans were detained while trying to enter the U.S., Germany is emphasizing to its citizens that a visa or an entry waiver does not guarantee entry into the U.S. A spokesperson reminded people, “The final decision on whether a person can enter the U.S. lies with the U.S. border authorities.”

German authorities are monitoring the recent detention of its citizens and investigating whether these were isolated incidents or indicative of a shift in immigration policies. Spokesperson Sebastian Fischer said, “Once we have a clear picture, we will then, if necessary, adjust our travel and security advice.”

Two German tourists and one green card holder were arrested upon entering the U.S. The two tourists were sent back to Germany after their cases were resolved, but both endured lengthy ordeals.

Update – March 20 at 11:10 a.m. PDT: The United Kingdom has also updated its advisory for the United States, writing on its website, “You should comply with all entry, visa and other conditions of entry. The authorities in the U.S. set and enforce entry rules strictly. You may be liable to arrest or detention if you break the rules.”

Administration’s Details on Deportation Flights ‘Woefully Insufficient,’ Judge Says

In an angry order, the judge, James E. Boasberg, told the Trump administration to explain why he should not find that officials had violated his instructions for the flights to return to the United States.

Judge Boasberg’s three-page order was a remarkable display of frustration with an administration that has sought not only to use the extraordinary powers of the wartime law, the Alien Enemies Act, to pursue its immigration agenda, but has also stubbornly refused to provide even the most basic information about the deportation flights.

On Thursday, the government finally filed court papers under seal to Judge Boasberg, but hours later, he revealed in his order that the papers “repeated the same general information about the flights” that department lawyers had already given him in previous court filings and hearings.

Appearing to reach the end of his patience, Judge Boasberg, who has a reputation for being a measured and understated jurist, gave the government a series of ultimatums.

It’s the only way the USMNT could win the Cup. I mean, they can be good, but they’d need guys like Ronaldo and Messi cooling their heels in undisclosed cells to have a legit chance.

Is the USOC involved with the government? I could see them ordering athletes to stay home for next year’s Winter Olympics. What I can’t see is Los Angeles aborting their Games three years in advance.
