If I'm wrong and there is a god I hope Trump will have to answer for all that he has done.

Everything I'm seeing just reinforces my conviction that there is no god, and to be honest, I can't wrap my head around how people can worship any entity that they think is at the core responsible for this.  But they've done it before, and they'll do it again.  That's the genius of the system.

If voters wanted to elect someone who never makes the right decision. Never listens to people who actually know what the right decision is. Is corrupt.  And keeps digging a bigger hole for America to fall into then yeah I can understand why people voted for him.

That's my sole consolation in all of this.  My screen name is based on a lifetime of experience, and I just keep telling myself, "The people have spoken.  It's not what I chose, but I'm almost never in the mainstream, so this is just another case of that, on a tragically grand scale."

For a while, I thought it could actually be a win-win situation.  The two possible outcomes seemed to be (1) I was wrong and Trump is right, or (2) Trump is wrong and people will finally see it, and even better, maybe they'll remember how hard that lesson was to learn and not fall for it again.

As for #1, nobody wants to be wrong, but if it resulted in a better world, I would take the L.

As for #2, I didn't realize there could possibly be a #3, which of course is that Trump is wrong and people will refuse to believe it.  That caught me by surprise, but maybe it shouldn't have.  After all, people accept tribulations with the promise that some unseen something, usually speaking through a middleman (who often wants their money), will make it all worth it later, including possibly not until after they're dead.  If they'll accept that, is it any wonder they accept the guy himself right in front of them, talking directly to them?  A rich businessman who "made it," telling them he's going to help them "make it," too?

The only way I can deal with it is to focus on "This is what the majority of you asked for" and force myself not to think about the individuals who are being affected.  In the past I had some sympathy because I could think, "They didn't ask for this" but I believe that many did in fact did ask for it, either by voting for it or not voting at all.  (And I include illegal immigrants in this because of the large voting bloc they comprise.  😀  )

And just in case it's not obvious, I'll state that I'm not impressed with people in general.  I actually think we evolved too fast--that our animal instincts needed time to be diluted before we started operating at the level we currently operate at.  But that's now how it happened, and we live in a reality we have to deal with.  It's a reality that I don't think is good for us, but the people have spoken and they say otherwise.

New curriculum will require students to learn 2020 election fraud conspiracies.

I'm trying to figure out how this material will actually be taught in the classroom and if the teacher would even have time to get to this point. How is the state of Oklahoma going to ensure that this material gets taught? Because there are a lot of ways for teachers to maliciously comply. It's always difficult for teachers to fit in everything during a school year, and good teachers are flexible. They will take the time to fully explain the things that their class struggles to understand or will delve deeper into the topics a particular class really takes to. It's very easy for a teacher to not cover all of the "required" topics in a government or history class. I can easily see a teacher just not getting to this lesson because they ran out of time.

I could also see a teacher flat out fucking with this law. Walk into class saying the state requires me to teach you this bullshit, teach said bullshit in a deadpanned manner to emphasis how incorrect the material is, and testing the students with some kind of multiple choice test where all the answers are C. Teens would eat this up. A whole lesson where they are not required to do anything but show up and pass a rigged test. (This is exactly how my high school American history teacher would have handled this law including the profanity.)

So Trump was his usual unhinged psychotic self today and the stories I am seeing are things like "Carney had a productive meeting with Trump".

I get that the official comments out of the PMs office have to walk a fine line and Carney isn't going to say "jesus christ what a moron" but the msm not reporting at all on the lunatic comments Trump put on the damned record is a big reason why the lunatic got back into the White House.  Stop sane washing this guy for gods sake.

I look forward to the OED adding "sane washing" to its lexicon.

The streamer I watch, who used to do more baking streams, opened a little craft store in January. These are the prices she got for shipping to Canada, versus her business in Los Angeles.

Genuine small business question. Has anyone found a good website for suppliers outside of one’s affected by the tariffs? My business is a Japanese craft store. Almost all of my supplies are coming from china. Picture 1 is I shipped my inventory to a Canada address. Picture 2 is if I shipped my inventory to my business address. I DONT KNOW WHAT I AM GONNA DO. Triple my prices?

How many politicians make plans and then never follow through?

Yes, we knew who he was. It's what he isn't that got him elected.

Given the policies he supports and pushes through, and the things he's said and done, that does not speak well for him or the people who voted for him.

And funny how he never has to be held accountable for all the plans and promses he breaks upon taking office, but every other politician has to be raked over the coals if they didn't do every last thing they promised they'd do, or didn't get to follow through on their plans for one reason or another. Just truly amazing, isn't it, how Trump never, ever has to answer for anything he's ever said or done, or how his supporters will gladly give him a pass no matter what shitty stuff he does.

This is one reason I love Carney!  During his acceptance speech that he made the night of the election a phone started ringing, he turned to the person and said "you better get that, it might be important".  Totally deadpan, it was hilarious.  He wasn't the least bit angry and then smoothly picked up where he had left off.

This is a guy with a sense of humour who can think on his feet.

Boy do we need that right now!  And what a refreshing change from Pitbull Poilievre whose default seems to be to be in a constant state of barely suppressed rage.

Right?! The one thing (well, one of many things) I simply can't wrap my head around is how, over a decade-plus of Trump, is how he tweets or does press conferences alone or with others from other countries and (a) blatantly lies or (b) is blatantly stupid (or both at once!), no one in the media ever pushes back or asks follow-up questions. He truly never has to answer for anything, the double-standards are insane. I can't even say double standards because there are no standards for Trump at all.

And when someone does push back like China saying nope there are no trade talks happening or the Mexican president saying nope you can't send troops here our media barely mentions it.

It will never cease to amaze me how many people have chosen enabling and defending the indefensible that is Trump as the hill they are willing to die on.  Literally.

I take it the PM-elect didn't take a swing? I get wanting to appear diplomatic, but doing that turns you into a global hero. "I've about had it with your rhetoric! And speaking of 'a-boot,' I'm going to stick one up your ass now!"

Anytime I check in on the news, my main hope is "Maybe he's ☠️☠️☠️☠️." I'm sure he's probably got handlers to tell him, "No, sir, that isn't licorice. I know that's tasty, but it wouldn't be connected to a lamp, sir."

I'm ready to pack a bag (just had a vision of those things that hobos held over their shoulders in old movies) and schlep to the Great White North. I can't take the embarrassment any more 😖. The media collectively just shrugs at all of Trump’s blatantly illegal actions or scandals that would be a three week story blast under Biden, Obama, etc.

I don't think I'll ever understand 😕

  • Reporter: Oh I could

While I don't think it's possible to erase the 49th parallel in any sense of the word "erase," I would vote for Carney to be POTUS&C.

*small raise of hand* I'd also go for this plan if Canada is allowed votes and votes majority Democratic, thus pushing GOP to the side for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for throwing an ulterior motive out there.  I made the mistake of watching the ABC Evening News and they cited their poll that said 86% of Americans oppose the takeover of Canada.  I thought, "Who in the world are the 14% who are in favor of it?"

Then there were stories about the meltdown in air traffic, and the Transportation Secretary came out to assure us they're on it.  I couldn't get past "That's the guy from The Real World!"

His #1 promise (which got him elected) was to secure our border, and he did that. His supporters feel safe as he continues to keep that promise.

I find it interesting that Obama deported 3 million non-citizens during his tenure, and yet nobody protested. And you can't tell me that all 3 million received "due process" either. But when Trump deports, everyone is up in arms. The double standard between the parties is outstanding & hypocritical.

Speaking for myself, no, he does not get a pass for all the shitty stuff. Like many of you, I lost half of my 401K too, but I didn't panic. Is it back to where it was? No, but it's close, and the market will come back.

How does one NOT believe their own eyes, ears, and sense of logic, integrity, or ethics when listening to Trump and watching how he and his billionaire grafters and appointed minions are f-ing over Americans?

How has he helped you economically?

I would love to hear some specifics.

Forget about "whatboutism"; that's old news (they're not in charge any more) and lame in a true dialogue.

I’m done debating the 2024 election hell MAGA is still debating the 2020 election

Why in God’s name is the man sitting in the WH upping the ante against CBS months after he won. Why is he going after his perceived enemies of 2020

For all the MAGAS who continue to berate Kamala Harris as someone who can’t put a sentence together or you think inappropriately laughs you must never listen to the mush minded president who can’t put a sentence together says inappropriate things all day and night and into the wee hours of the morning putting out messages in all caps on his “truth” social

And thinking things are funny even though he says them with a straight face. Telling reporters this week he had nothing to do with a picture of himself dressed as a pope and “my wife thought it was cute”

You don’t have to laugh we all know what you meant

If your 401k has lost money but you’re ok with that because “I know it will come back” well good for you you’re probably better off than a lot of people that have nothing other than a 401k to depend on for their future

In almost four months of this administration not one positive thing has been achieved. And yeah I know MAGAS are  all excited about the border but sorry that’s not what effects the everyday life of most people

If this lasts for four years we’re going to be a bankrupt country in many ways

Because that is his comfort zone. He knows how to do that.  Actually being President and doing the day to day duties is something he doesn't know how to do. Even though he previously had the job. He (and his most delusional supporters) thinks he is some sort of superhero.  Vanquishing opponents. That is what he thinks he is doing.

And he is back to renaming things.  Glad to see he is doing the important work.

It wasn't for most of Trump supporters and it still won't be when it crashes. Because they believe Trump when he says the good parts of the economy are because of him and the bad things are because of Biden.  Although they might not have even heard him say that since the interview wasn't on Fox or any of the other part of the right wing media apparatus.

People who voted for him did so because they shared his vile sentiments about women and minorities and will be totally fine with our deconomy and that of the global economy being tanked if it means going after those pesky brown people and LGBTQ+ people and making sure women know their place

I hear people on the left say we shouldn't blame voters. I disagree with that.  They are the ones who feed Trump's ego. When he says something racist, veiled or not, they cheer him on. So he keeps doing it. He knows his audience.  And that is what voters are to him.  An audience.

Are we going to talk about the racist woman who started a gofundme after hurling the n word at a 5 yr. old boy on a playground?
