He was widely hated by a lot of New Yorkers even before he went into politics, especially those in real estate because they knew he was dishonest. With him you never can take what he says to the bank and I don't trust anyone that's full of shit like that and that has absolutely NOTHING to do with politics. Just my New York opinion. Many (most?) vehicles that are built in North America go over the borders multiple times. For example (I think this is how vehicle manufacture works; at least it's how it has been described to me, the person decsribing it could've had things wrong): some tiny component of a door panel is made in China. It's imported into the US to be installed in a plant in Kentucky or elsewhere. That door, is then shipped to Canada or Mexico to be installed into the actual vehicle. Will the tariffs be applied at each border crossing? Will the widget be tariffed and the vehicle tariffed again? 4 hours ago, Yeah No said: One of the reasons is that I think they admire that he gives them the freedom to be assholes. Do you really think he's going to turn into Hitler? I know that's what a lot of lefties think, but they don't know NY "speak". Especially now with all the support he has. Even Martha R (ABC News) gave Trump credit for returning of hostages...because he said there would be "hell to pay". I hope he won't, but the policies he and his party want to enact don't exactly fill me with confidence. I'm sure there were poeple who downplayed Hitler back when he was getting going, too. And even if he doesn't? I don't want to give him and the GOP an inch, because if we do that, they'll take a mile. Bottom line, when your party makes a point of actively trying to take away civil and human rights from women and minorities, you're not on the right path no matter how far you get with that plan. History does not look kindly on those kinds of leaders. Quote I'm not against people being charged for their crimes, but as we see it, the Dems have been after Trump from the very beginning LOOKING for something to prosecute him with. Ok, so he put the hush money in the wrong column. Do you really think he's the only rich person to do something like that? IOW, do you really think other rich men don't fudge their tax returns? Of course they do! But if your name is Trump, you're the only one who gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I mean...there's been plenty of other rich people who've been held accountable for their crimes in recent years, but sure, okay Trump's totally being singled out. The Democrats were looking to go after him because he is a criminal. Plain and simple. He was one before he took office, he actively was one while in office, and he actively fucked with our elections to try and ensure he stayed in power. So, uh, yeah, the'y're gonna be a little angry about that. Don't conflate personal dislike of the guy with holding him accountable for the things he actually did. If he'd just eben an annoying guy who still did his job and got shit done and wasn't committing crimes on the side, people would've dealt with it. But that's not what happened. Also, it wasn't just Democrats who investigated him. There were a few Republicans who actively had the guts to try and hold him accountable, too, namely Cheney and Kinzinger. So it's not like this was just plain party bias happening here. Quit downplaying the significance of his crimes and trying to brush them off as people just going after someone they personally didn't like. Quote No, I haven't forgotten about blue denim dress. But did Clinton get prosecuted and go to trial over it? I don't think so. Sure he was ridiculed and made fun of by late night hosts/comedians, but we're not calling him a felon because of it. He literally got impeached over it, didn't he? My point being, the Demorrats aren't the only ones who go after someone for their sexual escapades, and in the Democrats' case, the sexual encounter wasn't the issue, it was all the crime surrounding it that they went after. With the GOP, it was the sexual activity itself. That whole situation was a prime example of a party gunning for someone simply for partisan reasons - the GOP was so desperate to try and get Clinton on something, and that's what they landed on. Similar to all the endless investigations they've kept doing with Hilary. Difference is, when it came to the Democrats, we actually found legitimate evidence of serious crimes that Trump committed. Meta has tried to copy the success of Tik-Tok with their Instagram Reels, but that does not run on the Tik-Tok algorithm and is therefore an inferior product. I don't have a problem changing Columbus Day to Indigenous People Day. I don't have a problem with statues of Confederate leaders being taken out of public places and put in museums. And as far as being taken down because of unfavorable connections all I can say is you are known by the company you keep. As long as they're still around for people to see and learn from the past. I not only studied East Asian/Chinese history (and it was my main focus as a history undergrad...those years are, after all, PRIME to "discover" or "research" your heritage) but have family members who lived through it. My dad and his direct family were lucky to be in Hong Kong, but my grandmother's parents and siblings were stuck in mainland China. It was not a fun time for them. I was surprised that there was (legal) contact between mainland and HK (according to my dad, anyway) and when my dad was finally able to travel to the mainland, he was surprised at seeing the contrast between them and Hong Kong. He talked about going to a restaurant where the daily special was scrambled eggs and tomato. To a Hong Konger, that was, well, nothing special at all. In any case, we don't want the Three and Five Antis campaign to happen nor do we want a Cultural Revolution-like campaign this century, which is what I'm worried about. Right now, I'm kind of seeing a Three/Five Antis-Lite vibe. 1 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/104/#findComment-8557163
kittykat Friday at 06:03 PM Share Friday at 06:03 PM I've never joined TikTok so don't really care that it's banned. Social media is becoming outright poison. Except you guys. 😉 Again the people who didn't vote because of Gaza are in burn it down mode. They want strife and Civil War. Never mind the very people they swear to be fighting for will be hurt the most they are looking for an all out fight. 11 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/104/#findComment-8557165

David Rouzer introduced a bill to the House of Representatives to eliminate the Department of Education on Monday. The bill, titled ‘To provide for the elimination of the Department of Education and other purposes.’, was referred to the House Committee on Education and Workforce. “I’ve introduced the States’ Education Reclamation Act in each Congress since I was first elected. Education should be handled at the state and local level without interference from the Federal government. This bill takes the funding appropriated to the Department of Education and gets it back to the states to use for teacher pay increases, new schools and/or whatever each individual state needs to enhance education,” Rouzer said in a statement. I hope all of you non-voters and Gaza purists are happy. Kids will probably be forced to sit in a church for 8 hours a day until they’re ready to work the mines, meat packing factory, or Amazon warehouse. I live in a poorly educated state. This would just make it worse. This is all part of them wanting to turn our country into the rich get richer and everyone else gets poorer and dumber so they stay poor. 7 minutes ago, kittykat said: Social media is becoming outright poison. Statement from President Joe Biden on the Equal Rights Amendment i think he’s saying that it should happen, I don’t know if he’s making it the law. Quote I have supported the Equal Rights Amendment for more than 50 years, and I have long been clear that no one should be discriminated against based on their sex. We, as a nation, must affirm and protect women’s full equality once and for all. On January 27, 2020, the Commonwealth of Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. The American Bar Association (ABA) has recognized that the Equal Rights Amendment has cleared all necessary hurdles to be formally added to the Constitution as the 28th Amendment. I agree with the ABA and with leading legal constitutional scholars that the Equal Rights Amendment has become part of our Constitution. It is long past time to recognize the will of the American people. In keeping with my oath and duty to Constitution and country, I affirm what I believe and what three-fourths of the states have ratified: the 28th Amendment is the law of the land, guaranteeing all Americans equal rights and protections under the law regardless of their sex. 56 minutes ago, Spartan Girl said: Biden and Obama had theirs out n the cold. Deeply red (other than a few pockets). This plus our governor’s war on education (we now use public funds for school vouchers — enough to make private school affordable for people with some means, but not enough for the undesirables) makes me shudder for the future. We’re near the bottom or top of every list, depending on what’s least desirable. The only good thing is our cost of living. Anyway, want to see what could be coming?
