He was a client, the one in the wheelchair. A scam artist, I think.

I immediately recognized the police officer -- Peter from Heartland -- so I'm sure we'll see him again next season. It's possible that he really did stop Mickey for the missing license plate, but we probably all suspect that he's a dirty cop who was told to stop Mickey and find the body in the trunk.

Who was the drug dealer who sent the photo of dead DeMarco? It sounded like Micky had met/spoken to him before? I don't remember that, but I'm bad about stuff like that.

That was Hector Moya, the cartel guy Mickey talked to in the prison kitchen.  He was in prison for killing Glory Days but was freed when they realized he didn't do it. I loved that he promised to make sure that no one from the other cartel was going to be able to harm Mickey or his staff and family.  Always good to have a friend with "connections."  The picture of DeMarco was a bit of proof that Moya had those connections.

The first two cases were cleaned up, I think. Someone related to Bishop would be the first guess

He wasn't in prison for killing Glory Days (Gloria Dayton).  That's who Julian was on trial for killing.  Moya was in prison on drug charges and a gun charge that increased his sentence to life, but he claimed that DeMarco had planted the gun.  That was the whole point of the habeas claim, that he was wrongfully convicted.  It was not made clear, but I'm assuming Moya's conviction (and possibly many others) was thrown out when DeMarco's corruption was revealed.  At the very least, probably the gun enhancer was tossed, so perhaps Moya had served his time on the drug charges?  But one tainted charge very likely taints all the charges.

Oh boy, another cliffhanger 😐 Guess that's the difference between the show and the books.  Poor Mickey. Whether the cop was tipped off, or legit pulled him over just for the missing plate, he was by-the-book, so I got no complaints there.

DeMarco got exactly what he deserved.  Looks like he's in the desert, hopefully some coyotes or whatever other carnivores are out there will have a nice meal 👹

 

Speaking of DeAsshole, I hope Mickey deleted that pic of him.  When they take him in, they will collect all his effects, that's not the kind of thing you want law enforcement seeing on your phone 😬

As an Angeleno who see's the LAPD almost always in two officer patrol cars that he was alone for a stop normally ignored by police sets off BS alerts.

De Marco was hanging from a bridge with a snake around his neck as Moya sent Mickey his thanks from the cartel message. It looked like a scene from Sicario.

Good point.  I used to live in the L. A. area, and that was my experience as well.  I did notice that the officer was a 2-striper.  I know some police agencies have the rank of Corporal, but I don't think LAPD does, at least not when I was out there.  They maybe should have had the officer be a sergeant, they almost always patrol solo.

Most veterans with a few years get the P2 stripes. It is more like a PFC to new private rather than a junior NCO corporal but not yet a sergeant.

Yes, I would have been happy without the cliffhanger for another season .. particularly because with streaming services there seems to be no way of knowing when or if another season with arrive. 
.. do not get me started on Stranger Things .. 

Maybe they were trying to avoid the typical legal show ending of winning the case when the jurying returns the not guilty verdict - - but this seemed messy with all the separate  follow-ups that resulted.
Cisco's discovery in Vegas seemed to go nowhere but finally played a part when Haller confronted the DA in that huge (huge) conference room with incredible views.

Mickey was semi-famous before - but with a multi-million settlement from the government, there shouldn't be any more need for advertising on bus stop benches. 

Mickey pissed off a lot of branches of law enforcement so it's not surprising that someone would want retaliation.  But would he really leave his precious Lincoln in a vulnerable parking spot?
The author of the books (and Bosch books) seems to have a low opinion of the law enforcement system in California.

I'm not sure I understand the lessons of Lincoln Lawyer. The US/CA justice system is shit, replete with ambitious people with no scruples, judges whose decisions are based on their reelection chances and bad actors at every level of justice, enough so that Mickey wants to quit, but he gets paid enough to allow him to live with the fact that for every person he "saves" 2 or 3 die?

And they do the oddest things. Like not actually search the PI? Like not ask the doctors if Julian is even conscious to have signed? And can a tow truck really cause an SUV to flip like that?

At those speeds air resistance can cause instability. Racing organizations changed their rules when air tunnels started showing what was happening 50 years ago

I am wondering how Bishop was even allowed to have a gun (let alone two) on him in a courtroom? You have to go through a metal detector in California courts, and only officers on duty are allowed to have a firearm on them. At least that's how I understand it.

District Attorney Investigators are POST qualified peace officers with jurisdiction statewide in California just like all police officers from cities, school districts, etc and Sheriff's deputies.  Testifying is part of their duties, he might have been drawing overtime pay at the time of his suicide..
