Exciting, wealthy, adventurous, handsome and a full life. She probably was going to pick him, but when he bowed out she fell apart. I wonder how much of her husband's ill gotten money she spent on plastic surgery, clothes, hair extensions, etc. The more I learn about her she seems very shallow, vain, and materialistic. She would be better off on Bravo's Real Housewives than the Bachelor franchise. Seems ABC doesn't give a fig about vetting people for the Golden franchise after Gerry and now Joan. 7 1 1 Link to comment

Eww!!! Disney owns ABC, doesn’t it? ABC used to be so wholesome. Now they are collaborating with Ryan Murphy and casting strip club owners’ widows. 3 Link to comment
LennieBriscoe November 17 Share November 17 So for both "The Golden Bachelor" and "The Golden Bachelorette" the ultimate emphasis was not on love and marriage, but on gold. Teresa with her successful financial career. Chock with his NYC apartment key. 9 1 4 Link to comment

The key itself looked like it came from a cheap motel. Edited November 17 by Alexander Pope 6 Link to comment
Starlight925 November 17 Author Share November 17 Did Chock say that he had already rented a NYC apartment? Before Joan made her final choice? Or was he saying that was a plan of his? Either way: Dictionary: Presumptious. See: Chock. 6 1 Link to comment

There's a great show on the Oxygen channel called "Who the Bleep Did I Marry?" Joane's marriage reminds me of some of the criminal ex-husbands who were profiled on that show. A lot of the women on the show didn't even know that their husbands were murderers, white collar criminals, sexual predators and more 😦. I wonder if Joane didn't know about what her husband was doing or if she turned a blind eye to it? I still think of that huge gemstone and diamond ring that her late husband gave her- that alone must've been thousands and thousands of dollars! He said he wanted them to pick out a home in NYC together because apparently on the overnight date they talked about doing so. Edited November 18 by JenE4 3 4 Link to comment

I could never do that with my guy friends.... I once ridiculed those "Bachelorette Handshakes" to my son. He was probably in his late 40s. He thought they were great! He was newly divorced. I wondered if his wife did it; their weight was very similar. EGAD! What did I raise? 1 6 Link to comment

But I imagine she HAD to know there was a criminal case against him. He was arrested, right? I think? or was awaiting trial when he died? I forget exactly, but it was in the news—- she knew. I suppose she told herself he was innocent. Why does abc not do its homework? Out of all the eligible seniors in America, they pick Gerry and Joan? 4 3 Link to comment

I wonder how she handled talking about the case within her family and friend circle. She probably did tell herself that he was innocent. ABC should do more research on future contestants and leads. I never got that impression, her descriptions of him were always calling him larger than life and then it was mostly about her grief at his sudden passing. 2 Link to comment
atomic Saturday at 12:45 PM Share Saturday at 12:45 PM This might be of interest to folks who watch this show. There is a show coming out on Netflix next week called The Later Daters, which follows golden age singles as they go on blind dates hoping to find love. I requested a forum for it and it's up and running here. 3 2 2 Link to comment
