Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, welcome back, John, how I have missed you and your show these last five months :D! And welcome back to the writers, too - I'm so glad they held out and got the deal they wanted, though I also very much agree with John's rant that all of this could've been avoided in the first places if the execs didn't have sticks up their asses, but...yeah. Bottom line, good to have you all back.

And what a way to return, too. I loved the recap of the last five months. The Boebert story is both hilarious and anger-inducing because she's one of those people who's all, "We've got to protect our children from LGBTQ+ people because they're 'sexual deviants'" but I guess her behavior in public is totally okay, because...reasons? Fuck off.

As someone with the name Angela, that story out of China was...surreal :p.

I don't know what the whole backstory was with that guy reading out that very explicit sexual text and I don't think I want to know.

The use of "In the Air Tonight" over that cop going down that slide was INSPIRED XD. I laughed so damn hard.

As for the main story, all I can really say about that is that It truly boggles my mind how the supposed "best country in the world" can't get its act together on giving everyone decent affordable healthcare. And if someone's appalled at prisoners getting healthcare that they themselves can't get, but still continues to vote for people and policies that will not allow them to get that healthcare, I mean...I don't know what else to say at that point other than logical thinking is clearly not their strong suit.

I have still never had a pumpkin spice latte. And I don't think that's going to change anytime soon :p.

Good to have the show back. John could have spent the next few weeks covering everything that was missed, but I think he did a good job covering Sen. Kennedy being extra explicit, Rep. Boebert's adventures watching Beetlejuice, and the unneeded follow-up to "We Didn't Start The Fire," among other things.

As always, the main topic was depressing. It needed to be talked about, but it was still depressing. Lack of health care can be seen as cruel and unusual punishment, but some people don't agree with that, while others would profit from a broken system. John announcing the "a stripper could get shot" lady was now running her company didn't have to be punctuated with gunshots, but it felt appropriate.

Boy, some of those bears were straight chonks.

Ouch. And yes, I can see that bear being an actual human.

I don't drink coffee. I must be missing out.

I'm so glad the show is back. John was very funny especially with the cop slide and how he kept going back to Lauren Boebert. The Reddit protest by using John Oliver pictures.

The main story isn't surprising but at the same time depressing. Everyone should have decent health care. That's not too much to ask. A woman who had a C-section should have it done properly. A man complaining should have been checked out before he had a heart attack and died. Don't get me started on the poor man who had cancer but took them months to do a CT scan to find it and then even longer to give him treatment for it.

Why, yes, it does say something that Boebert and her date decided to get off while watching a show about death. “Save it for Fiddler like a goddamn adult!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Oh, I’ve missed you, John. Your rant about how long it look to settle with the WGA was everything I’ve said all summer.

I no longer have HBO, but as luck would have it, YouTube had this one up.  Great show.  JO reminds us of so many things we forget to think about.

It's been so long that I've lost the link to website where I used to watch this (I'm already paying for 3 streaming sites and won't get HBO just for this one show). It's good that the full episode was available on youtube, since I usually prefer the recap to the main segments.

I remember some time ago reading about a US senator reading some explicit text aloud and while I was curious, I thought that nope, I don't have to see that. Turns out, I didn't escape it after all 😆. I was wondering if perhaps the full episode would be just a recap of the last few months with several shorter segments, as there was definitely enough craziness, but I understand that they probably also have enough main segments planned that they need to get going with those.

My memory is bad, but I don't have a recollection about hearing of that Sen Kennedy porn reading. I just googled because I thought he was reading (alleged) messages from Hunter Biden's (alleged) laptop. But no, he was reading from LGBTQ+ books. I guess his tactic worked. After listening to him, even I want those books banned.

Loved John going after Boebert. When the story first came out, Boebert denied having vaped. And then the video showed that she vaped. Then she said she wasn't aware that she was vaping -- What was she vaping? -- even though video showed the woman behind her asking her to stop and Boebert responding, "No." And then of course we get the video of them groping each other. And then she says this was a first date. Is that supposed to be a positive thing? Does she have her first dates grope her breasts in public while she gropes his dick? And THEN one of the servers at his restaurant said they've been going out for months.

I always love hearing the Mad Men line, "Not great, Bob!" and this was perfect for the Bob Menendez story.

I've seen that clip of Lindell angrily yelling at the prosecutor in the deposition, but I hadn't noticed his cross hanging out from his shirt. Way to promote Christian values, Mike. Calling someone an asshole is just WJWD.

I also had followed that sun bear story. The first time I saw that video I was convinced it was a person in a suit. But then I read that the saggy skin when standing is what sun bears do indeed look like.

For me the funniest thing about 'cop slide' is that Boston Cop Slide is now on google maps.

Lookalikes: Billy Joel and Bruce McGill.

The main story was so upsetting, but not surprising. I don't see how things will ever change from profit-driven to humane-driven.

What was the rationale behind putting sugar in the open wound? I've seen in movies and TV shows where a medic opens a powder dumps it into a wound. I assume that's like the stuff in styptic pencils. Did the prison medical staff just think any powder would do the same thing, or is there some kind of real reason behind it.

Yay for the show being back! I hope the actors get a good resolution for their strike, too.

While it's nice that the show is back, some stories could have been given more attention, like the previous president getting smacked with all these criminal charges against him, as well as the courts dissolving his empire just last week. And what the fuck is wrong with John Kennedy? For someone who attended Oxford, he always sounds like a marble mouthed moron.

And, as always, the American public, by and large, doesn't really care about the health and well being of incarcerated prisoners. In fact, this episode may make some people believe prisoners have it too good, and will now attempt to make life worse for them as a result.

So angry voice guy is all better now.  Good to know!

This.

And the sheer incredulity that you have certain news programs "complaining" about prisoners getting "health care paid by the taxpayers," and then you learn just how awful that "health care" is.  I mean, even poor people who have no health insurance can go to a hospital ER and get decent, better health care  "paid by the taxpayers" than that provided to most prisoners.

I also appreciated that the patients highlighter by John were in prison for relatively minor offenses.  Not that anyone, no matter what they did, deserves grossly negligent health care, but just because you failed to pay child support, that should not end up being a death sentence for the man who had the heart attack, or the guy who stole a car will now die of curable cancer in just a few months.

and we know many of the people who support these for profit companies call themselves "christians."  they should be ashamed.

So glad to watch this again.  For some reason max has this show buried rows down but Bill fucking Mahers face is plastered all over.  Glad I found it and glad to watch.

The five month recap was great.  There were definitely moments this last summer when something would happen and I was just arrgh why isn't John Oliver on.

Kind of wish he would have dropped a line about the Sound of Freedom producer being charged for trafficking but there was all things Boebert to cover.

And yes PRISONERS ARE PEOPLE!  It is sad that when people think of prisoners getting health care that their first reaction is their own lack of health care but instead of looking at the system as a whole they instead blame the prisoners.  That shit happens nurse was a jaw dropper, I hope she never practices again.

Figured we had to get a PSL interstitial, didn't expect a Dune twist on it. My reaction to those is pretty much the one John had in the credits.  Peppermint Mocha is my season.

I know the writers couldn't actually write over the strike, but the opening 5 month recap was on fire. They had to have been filing those away in the memory banks.

Even with the pumpkin spice. Everyone really was geared up.

Yeah some reason. Can't possibly imagine why they would promote one more than the other...
