Since she's had this publicist for awhile and it's always Natalie who puts out statements. I think it would be an excellent idea for Natalie to take a step back and let a professional handle these things - after all, that's why they are paying them! I'm sure Natalie has the best of intentions but it is hard to separate your emotion from any situation when you are so personally invested. Having said that, it could just be that Natalie was preoccupied in this instance if Gabby is as unwell as it sounds. There were reports on twitter that she was re-hospitalised again on Sunday night although that could just be misinformation/confusion as I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere official. And if Simone is going to make a return to the sport, she may have to either move gyms or get another coach - her long-time coach Aimee Boorman has moved to Florida with her family! http://www.people.com/article/simone-biles-aimee-boorman-coach 1 Link to comment

I never understood why they didn't use her more. I hope this means Natalie takes a step back. Happy for Aimee! I bet this has been in the works since before the Olympics. Growsonwalls September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 So for those who saw Kenzo Shirai on floor and vault and wanted to see what he's like on other events I found this. Doesn't have the control quite yet but getting there. Here's his rings: Much rougher. His tiny twisting self doesn't have the upper body strength for rings, but still, I could see Kenzo becoming an AA gymnast in 4 years. 2 Link to comment

With Instagram, do these numbers reflect "likes" or comments on pictures and videos that the women themselves posted, or is it like Twitter, where you can post a comment on whomever you want, even if you aren't looking at their feed? Gabby apparently was in the hospital for surgery The medical professional in me is somewhat confused. Gabby said she had a cyst in her mouth that grew "on a bone." Does that mean the cyst was underneath her gums, on her jaw? And there's another statement from a publicist stating that she was in the hospital being treated for complications from a "seriously infected past mouth infection." What the hell?. Maybe the statement from the publicist is written with Millenials in mind, but I have no idea what that even means. I'm not asking Gabby to violate her HIPAA rights and disclose even more of her protected health information, but did she have a cyst? Or did she have an infection? Or an infected cyst? Bottom line, it must have been really serious. People generally don't have to stay in the hospital overnight after oral surgery. Edited September 1, 2016 by topanga Link to comment

Laurie has also but even though she says she's doing every stop DWTS is a huge time commitment. It is possible to do both. Simone is coming out with an auto biography. So I assuming The Simone Biles Story will be airing on Lifetime in the future. Aly says she's aiming for 2020. I don't think Aly knows what she wants to do after gymnastics ala Kim Zmeskal, Paul Hamm, Blaine Wilson. Whether she makes it on the 2020 team or not I won't be surprised if she continues until her body gives out. Aly has been lucky that she has had no major injuries. HartofDixie September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 She's healthy (right now) and she's improved since London but I really think she needs to thing long and hard about this plan. She had started college in the Boston area. She should resume classes in January or look into finishing elsewhere (say UCLA). She may now want a World individual gold medal but other than that she's done everything she wanted to do with this comeback and staying until 2020 when there's one less spot on the team is a bit selfish IMO. And she loves the fame aspect (Gabby too). Link to comment

Who knows how the juniors will do or Laurie or Ragan. I agree they all love the fame except for Kyla who looked uncomfortable in every interview appearance in 2012. Personally I would like some new gymnasts. I also don't see Valeri giving Aly numerous chances like Martha gave to her and the other 2012 girls minus Kyla. It will be particularly interesting because there is unlikely to be another Simone which will level the playing field, plus the new format of 4 team members and 2 specialists will mix things up and finally Marta won't be in charge and while the system she has established is still in place it is likely that there will be some change/difference. He says it helps him focus. So what does a gym do once one of it's gymnasts makes the National team and possibly the Olympic team? If there's too much interest, I'd imagine the gym would have to start turning people away. How does a gym owner make those decisions? I guess it would depend if they are interested in elite or rec gym. Since Rec gym is how most gyms make money that shouldn't be a huge issue I read an article about the gym the Biles own and they have tripled their enrollment and have a waiting list since the Olympics. Here is a good article Simone's Brother who manages the gym is quoted http://m.ctpost.com/news/texas/article/Students-flock-to-Texas-gym-run-by-family-of-9179609.php I think if you want to be elite it is stricter. I've read stuff with WOGA where you have to try out. If you are already on the national there were rumors that Martha pretty much dictated gym changes which is why no gym would accept Mattie Larson after the 2010 worlds debacle. While Gabby was able to switch to Chow's in the same timeframe (it was rumored that Martha and Kathy Kelly were behind her leaving Excalibur even though they have publicly denied it). Even though there are gymnasts like Simone, Jordyn, Laurie and Shawn who are with the same coach there whole career. A lot of gymnasts like Kyla and Aly will start off at smaller gyms and then move to one that coaches elite. Edited September 14, 2016 by choclatechip45 1 Link to comment

Can you elaborate, please? Mattie was trying to leave why? Did her gym kick her out or did she blame her coach for her floor ex? Also--I read somewhere a mention of Mattie's "famous" grandfather and something connected to TV. Is he actually Glenn Larson (produced/created the original Battlestar Galactica and the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew series, as well as others). If so what a random coincidence! 1 Link to comment

They should be announcing Valeri as the new NTC soon! It will be interesting to see how Maggie does as a coach the next four years her gym has done very well the last couple years at the Junior National Championships. It will be interesting to see besides Laurie if any of her gymnasts have success at the elite level. I'm sure a lot of parents want there gymnast to train at MG Elite. I can't remember the last time a female gymnast went to the Olympics from the tri state area. I know in the past Maggie has said they have kept the team very exclusive due to the gym being on the smaller side because of how expensive real estate is. I think Laurie is going to have a hard time to make it back to another Olympics due to be injury prone and the other opportunities she may get that will distract her from training. I would love to see her make at least one Worlds team. And a lot will depend on who replaces Martha. Look at what's happening with the Florida recruits now that Rhonda Faehn left the school. 2 hours ago, CeeBeeGee said: Can you elaborate, please? Mattie was trying to leave why?
