Kill.  After the bat thing, he had Brady drugged by some guy on the street, and while he was passed out in his bed, Xander was going to shot him in the head and make it look like a suicide.  Only Sarah calling Jada and lying that she'd remembered seeing Brady behind the wheel of the car saved him from certain death.

Something Xander has yet to apologize for. I have a feeling the writers are keeping them apart, so Brady can remain unaware of Kristen’s conditions for the serum, but it’s typical Xander. Instead of doing the most logical thing of going to Brady and asking him to get Kristen to change her mind, he resorts to thuggery - including barging into Kate’s room and ordering her around. Changed man my ass.

With the way, the conversation began, I was surprised Tate chose Sophia, as well. I wasn’t shocked he told Holly about sleeping with her, but I figured he still wanted to be with Holly. I thought she might reject him, not the other way around. We’ll see how it plays out, but I think Tate genuinely wants to see how things go with Sophia, even though his feelings for Holly are stronger.

Rachel’s first scenes in ages and already I want her to shut up. Now, suddenly, she wants her parents back together? 🙄 I hope the show isn’t trying to use Rachel’s pleas to excuse any batshit schemes Kristen comes up with to get Brady back. Her pathetic butt doesn’t need her nitwit daughter’s suggestions to do anything crazy. Obsessed & crazy is her default setting.

In fairness, Holly has been a mess of a girlfriend and not a good friend either. I'm relieved that on some level Tate is ignoring his impulse to prioritize her again when Sophia obviously values him more.

Sucks that Sophia will probably be written as the Bad Girl though.

Did we see Viv today?

IA. I’m not a Tate/Holly fan at all. I was on his parents’ side and thought it was idiotic he forgave her so fast after her lies and drug use caused him so much heartache. Unfortunately, it seems Tate has inherited his dad’s penchant for inexplicably falling for - and repeatedly forgiving - women who treat him like dirt (mostly thinking of Kristen.)

Probably going to be the only one feeling this way, but the Greene sibling scenes were the main reason I was hooked to today's episode.  I like that Aaron now knows the whole truth of Mark's involvement with Clyde, and I like that he knows that Cat is his sister.  The way they played the scene was well done by all three actors.

Is Ivan really so devoted that he'll do anything and even everything for Vivian?  I can't believe that they took such joy in Gabi's pain of thinking that Stefan left her.

Speaking of Gabi, she had no right to demand E.J. to leave his own house.  Especially since she's living there anymore.

Interesting how Chad wants Cat free, but doesn't care if Mark goes down, even though he knows that he only tried to kill him under duress.

I'm with you. I really liked the Greene sibs today, especially the clarification that Aaron knows his sister and that she was the accident.

Chad is an idiot

Gabi is completely unself aware

Rafe is sooo boring

Still like Ivan and Vivian but that might just be nostalgia

I'm a fan, too. AnnaLynne also looked beautiful with more of her natural hair style. Maybe we will eventually get to the full curls:

So . . . did Johnny sleep with Joy or not?  Stop playing fast and loose with the flashbacks, Show, and just tell us.

So Nancy's not sticking around?  I thought that she was going to stay here with Joy.  Looks like Joy will be living above the Pub instead.

How do Nancy and Chanel know each other?

So Leo has officially met Javi.  Hmm. . . . Okay.  Greg and Al have chemistry from what little we got of them, so there's that.  Will have to see more first.  But I'm confused as to how they each knew that the other was gay right away.  Do gay men just have a way of knowing that?  I'm gay myself and even I can't spot another gay man that easily.

Little surprised that Gabi didn't connect the dots between Vivian being in town around the same time that Stefan left.  I would've been storming down to her hospital room to demand some answers had I been she.  Though knowing Vivian, Ivan's probably already gotten her out of there by now.

Alex and Stephanie . . . don't care.  But I did like Stephanie congratulating Jada and Rafe on their engagement.

This is a reach but didn't Chanel and Allie bake the cake for the Gwen/Xander and Leo/Craig double wedding? I don't think Chanel and Nancy ever shared scenes, but that's the only thing I can think of, especially since Chanel called her Mrs. Wesley. That implies that their interactions were formal and not personal.

That being said, I think the interaction was just to heighten the drama. The one time Chloe and Johnny - when Johnny was possessed by the Devil - shared a scene; Chloe didn't know who Johnny was. I don't think there's a reason to think Johnny would know Nancy either. However, both did.

I think anyone would know the character Javi is gay, he's acting a stereotype like Hank Azaria played for laughs in La Cage au Folles.   In real life gay and straight people look and act on some spectrum we recognize as normal and I don't even think about it unless it comes up.   Javi is a cartoon.

Another boring episode. I was surprised to see a Johnny/Brady scene.

Has Johnny always called John, Grandpa? I honestly can't remember the last time John and Johnny had a scene together, outside of Johnny's possession. John didn't seem to like Johnny during those episodes, but I'm not sure if we're supposed to think that John could sense Satan inside Johnny or if he genuinely didn't like Johnny.

I don't care about Belle being back.

Really enjoyed this episode. Family moments. Continuity and plot points honored (Konstantin's daughter, Timothy R, the Saul wedding interrupted by the Will return, Julie's disfigurement, etc). And a lot of John references, which we all needed. The Washington Mission concept was decently introduced.

I really wanted Belle to toss Fristen's bony ass out the door. (Sorry Stacey) God, there's no substitution for Eileen, even all these years later. And man oh man, is Mme DiMera played out. How Marlena tolerates her presence is beyond me, least of all on her anniversary.

Paul's hug with Andrew was...stiff. Can the actors (Sean, I'm looking at you) try to have a wee bit more chemistry please?

I don't understand how they played baseball with only 2 players on each team though 😄

I got misty-eyed at the end there. Would have been even better if Drake had been able to record some voiceover. The show doesn't do that enough when an actor is physically unable to appear.

Happy Anniversary DOOL! Onward and upward!

Awww...I was in tears at the end when Marlena told John what a wonderful Family they had and having kids & grandkids there was special.  I always enjoy the family related shows...the men hanging out & playing baseball(nice tribute to Drake), the women celebrating Maggie/Victor's anniversary...Sarah was so sweet with her Mom and then Julie & Maggie telling Holly about their romantic woes. Julie putting on a brave face as she took tea up to Doug's room.  The whole show gave me the 'feels".

I don’t think Javi is that bad. He’s flamboyant, but it’s not unrealistic. Stereotypes exist for a reason. There are flamboyant gay men like that in real life. I would think it’s wrong to have a character like that if he was the only representation of gay men, but he’s not. Paul, Will, Sonny, Andrew are not flamboyant that way. Even Leo isn’t quite the same.

Today’s episode started out kind of boring for me, then got much better. Though it’s sad that the only reason they do these kind of scenes where families get together is when it’s a special episode.

Xander actually pulled the trigger on Philip today. If there were bullets in the gun, Phil would have been dead.  I’m glad they haven’t stripped Xander of his dark side, but I never thought he would stoop to murder.

We should only be so lucky! If that were the case, they would have a chance of yet another Salem-urection. Replace this fucking awful Philip with a much better one!

Did Maggie really say that Victor would not agree with Phillip?  There is no way Victor would sign over Titan to Kristen for anyone much less Sarah to walk.  If Maggie thinks that she never knew him.

Nice seeing Paul, Belle, Andrew.

Why is nobody kicking Kristen out?

Friday's show was the most all-around enjoyable episode, for me, in quite some time.  I thought everyone pretty much meshed and even though Kristen really had no reason to be there, I loved Marlena slapping her hand away from the flowers and having most everyone else ignore her.  I love Belle so I was glad to see her back, ditto Andrew and Paul.  I also loved the Maggie, Julie, Sarah and Holly scenes.  There's a change in how Holly is being portrayed, I think, and I like it.  She's calmer, maybe starting to mature a bit?  The weakest for me were the boys playing baseball but that really was fine, too.

Our underlying knowledge of what's to come, with Doug's passing and now John's certainly played into my reaction to Friday's show, I know.  If Show can keep up this kind of character based storytelling, at least for those storylines, I'll be very content.

I found myself asking questions about the logic in this show today. Couldn't help it. (Why do I torture myself?)

I'm confused about this Greene family storyline. Why are there 4 kids? We haven't seen a family this big land all at once in Salem since....the Hernandez clan? Is it necessary? Felicity and Aaron could have been in another family. It wouldn't have affected the plot at all.

Looking at the bigger picture, how did Clyde get his hands on Konstantin's middle-aged daughter? Why would he automatically think getting her plastic surgery-altered daughter to marry Chad would be the easiest way to take the DiMera millions? Why not just....rob them?

...it's...convoluted to say the least. The whole thing hinges on Cat's ability to pretend to be Abigail, whom she never met. Pretty stupid.

Also, since Kristen is once again withholding a medical care to get what she wants, can't they go to the cops and report her? Isn't that a fairly illegal pattern of behavior? Didn't Kayla, Kate and Marlena die because of it? I'm not sure she'd be arrested in the real world, but...blackmail is illegal, right?

Why doesn't Xander just cozy up to Rolfe and hire him away from Kristen? He has money too and Victor had spies on the payroll. Track the mad doctor down. Cut out Kristen.

I know we're supposed to view Philip as the bad guy here, but I'm glad he told Sarah the truth of what Xander did and I hope he gets some control over Titan. The character has been undermined, but Victor's love for him never was.

Interesting today to see Brady refusing to give in to a demented, dangerous lover...and Sarah contorting herself to stay with one. I prefer Xarah, but...girl, you're in the same situation as Brady.

"If it happened to Batgirl...it could happen to you!"  Ha!

Kate was awesome today. I love when she gets the upper hand. More please!

Surprised Kristen did the right thing.

I get the feeling that this is eventually leading to Xander going a step too far with vengeance and Sarah finally being unable to take it.  Because yeah, Xander is starting to escalate with this.

I think Xander will calm down once Sarah has the cure. He is just a mess of guilt and anger because he blames himself for letting his mother into their lives.

I for one am tired of people thinking they know better than Victor what he wanted for Titan. When he was alive he was very clear to Xander he was the best choice. And his will, despite Kate's insistence, made reference to a trust to pay Philip's medical bills, so Victor outed him as alive but didn't want him anywhere near his company.

Of course Xander was ready to trade it for a vial of pee so....

Body makeup?  Is what Chanel mentioned a thing?

Given how many other people whom Clyde has hurt, threatened, and/or killed, I was expecting -- and hoping -- that Chad would have a modicum of empathy for Cat's position.  Never dawned on me that he'd be a judgmental shit about it, but it's disappointing that he is being one.

Gabi, stop blaming E.J. for your marriage ending.  It was yours and Stefan's fault, not E.J.'s.

Joy, do not give Leo the time of day.  Your parents are now divorced because of him.

So Javi's last name is Hernandez, confirming that he's Rafe and Gabi's cousin on Eduardo's side, not Adriana's.

I only tuned in for the Julie JJ stuff...but after they mentioned Doug, I bounced.

How did the episode end with regards to them? I heard her ask if JJ had a lovah...and that was it.

JJ said he wasn't seeing anyone. He also referenced Doug giving JJ a ring to propose to Lani(back when she was pregnant with David) and felt he wasn't ready. Julie said I think you came to that realization on your own. JJ asked how Eli/Lani were and Julie said they were fine but was hoping they would visit soon with the twins(obvious foreshadowing). JJ said he was going to the inn but Julie insisted he stay at the house so he said he was going to get dinner. Chad showed up and Julie told him JJ came home they talked about Cat and then she walks in.

JJ got in between EJ/Gabi's fight at the square to pick up dinner I guess.

JJ/Julie were my favorite part of today's episode. It reminded me of how Days is when it comes to family etc.

I hated how Joy is cool with Leo given how he hurt her parents especially Nancy.

Mine too.  JJ had some terrific scenes with Doug back when Casey Moss was a regular.  Him describing Doug to Julie as "my favorite person in the whole world" was completely believable, and charming, coming from him.

Highlight of today's scenes were the E.J./Gabi/J.J. scenes.  Casey hasn't lost a step.  And I like that they've left J.J.'s quality of hating men putting their hands on women intact.

But I really liked the more honest J.J./Gabi scenes.  I liked that they finally had a real conversation over the incident with Julie's pacemaker, and that J.J. was still suitably angry about that.  They never really got to discuss it or have it out before J.J. left four years ago.  But what really shocked me was Gabi admitting to, at least after coming to terms with her actions, being horrified at herself for stooping that low.

Paulina wants Jada to stay on as police commissioner?  Well, given how much more effective she was at the job while Rafe was out, I can understand it.

Speaking of Paulina, her Chanel/Stephanie mixup joke might've landed harder if Johnny had, you know, actually been there to see and hear it, since it was a dig at him.

So via Joy's dialogue, it's confirmed.  She and Johnny did sleep together.  And he's stupidly given in to her pleading of keeping his mouth shut about it.  This will not end will when it comes out, because yet again, someone's choosing to lie rather than just be honest about it.  But it's your funeral, Johnny.

I just had a weird flashback watching today's show: is this the second time Rafe has had his job taken away by the woman, he's with? I seem to recall Hope filling in for Rafe for some reason as Commissioner and then him getting better and not being able to take the position back from her or something? Though obviously he got it back since.

I **LOVE** JJ for punching EJ in the face! Awesome! Wutta guy! 👏👏👏👏 💪

Seriously Casey is killing it. Fully committed.

The rest is boring.

No that happened and it caused an issue with Rafe/Hope. They briefly broke up and he slept with Sami when she was in town(this was exposed by Claire via tape recording at Rafe/Hope's wedding).

I have no issue with people hating EJ(he should be hated tbh) but he didn't make Gabi sleep with him either and I'm annoyed at the dialogue over it.

Yeah, they seem to be repeating the Rafe/Hope storyline with he and Jada now. Hopefully it has a different outcome.

Still unsure if Johnny and Joy had sex. They both keep using vague terms liked "got together" and "hooked up". I need one of them to say "slept with".

Surprised that Aaron just full-on told Holly everything about Cat and Mark.  And apparently, he's already told Felicity offscreen.  At least Holly believes the story.

So J.J.'s just as judgmental as Chad even knowing Cat and Mark's situation.  Good to konw.  Not.  Like, he couldn't put himself in Cat's shoes for a moment?  If Jennifer were in trouble, wouldn't he do anything possible to bring her home?

. . . No, of course he wouldn't be able to put himself in another person's shoes.  I get that he's really loyal to his family (as he should be), but his family's not the only one who's been hurt by Clyde.

I'd feel better about the tirades against Cat if there were at least one character to shut those saying the tirades up and urge them to give the Greenes at the very least one modicum of empathy for, if not their actual actions, at least their motives behind their actions.  At this rate, Aaron might be the only character who can do that, but I can't think of anyone who'll listen to him.

Speaking of whom, Aaron's actor needs to slow down when he speaks, because he often stumbles over his syllables when he talks as quickly as he does.

Did Tate seriously bed Sophia in their townhouse again even after Brady explicitly told him not to?  Also, he called her by Holly's name in bed.  Uh-oh.  That is a clear sign that he should end this with her right now and just do what's in his actual heart: take Holly back.

So Jada is secretly thrilled to be the commissioner permanently.  And Rafe's quitting the force to sue the city.  This should go well.

I am not bothered by JJ’s reaction if he quickly forgave the drama is gone. Eventually he will forgive her just not overnight.

That being said I can’t really get into this story either because they completely neutered most of the drama by excluding Jack/Jennifer/JJ from the beginning. It’s like when Gwen was revealed to be Jack’s and JJ/Jennifer were treated as nonfactors.

They managed to make a potentially compelling story irrelevant.

Yeah, I’m also fine with his and Chad’s reactions at this point. Why do they need to care about someone’s else’s mother when they’re having to grieve their loss all over again?  That grief is fresh once again, they may not have the ability at this moment to care, I certainly don’t, about Cat and the new insta-family’s new mother. Someone they loved is still dead. That has to be a major blow to have to go through that twice.

It’s not their responsibility to feel sorry for her.  It won’t be wrong for Jack and Jennifer to also not immediately focus on her and feelings. Would it be nice if they did, sure. But there’s nothing wrong with their anger at the moment. I hate how those who are the injured parties are expected to instantly forgive and forget just because the perpetrator, good reason or not, is sorry. That doesn’t erase what the person they hurt went through.  It was the same with Gwen.

Cat knew what she was doing. It was worth it for her, so take the consequences that come from that. Maybe in time everyone will come around and understand.  Give it some time.

I'm glad they are allowed to be angry which is more than what this show usually gives but also they should've been in this story from jump instead of being treated as outsiders and making it about Chad and the Dimeras. I do wonder if the scabs were allowed to stay on how this story would've really gone.

Yet when they talked about it sometime back, Steve, Kayla, and Roman did show some understanding, because they knew what Clyde was capable of doing. Some, granted, but better than nothing.  So yeah.  Chad and J.J., both of whom have also seen and experienced that of which Clyde is capable, could spare some.  Key word being "some."  They do have a right to their anger, as well, but at least some acknowledgement would be nice.

Steve, Kayla, and least of all Roman did not experience the loss and grief of Abigail on the same level or to the same degree of Chad, JJ, Jack, and Jennifer. They can see the situation with a clearer perspective. It’s not their child, wife, or sister.

Chad and JJ don’t owe anyone, least of all the person who deliberately and cruelly manipulated their grief, any grace if they aren’t ready. Yeah, they absolutely know what Clyde is capable of and Cat used that against them didn’t she. So what that she had an excuse?  That doesn’t make what Chad and JJ are experiencing any less painful. They don’t need to be concerned about acknowledging anything to Cat. They can be selfish with her in having to grieve their loss all over again. Reasons or not, she did them wrong. Them giving her grace and consideration of her situation certainly shouldn’t be their priority or concern at the moment. Maybe when they deal with, again, their happiness and joy at having their wife and sister back after losing her to a brutal murder snatched away they can reconsider their anger, and likely will, but now? They are entitled to feel however they want.  Maybe it’s not nice or perfectly rational. Understandable? Absolutely.

I don't think either Chad or JJ, or anyone in Abby's family or circle of friends (as small as that circle should be) owe Cat or her brother any sympathy or even understanding at this point, except in the most elemental of ways.  Forced to behave as she was, and as much as she acknowledges the pain she caused, that pain is real and raw and if it had involved the kids, it would have been so much worse.  The people she hurt, unwillingly as it was, are entitled to their feelings and are entitled not to care about hers, especially at this point.  The ruse was just revealed.

I do wish that Show would find other words to use than "bitch", though.

I'm not much of a fan of Rafe, never have been, but I hope that he takes Paulina to court and I hope she loses.  Paulina was downright rude and condescending to him and I'm tired of everyone in town treating her entitlement like it's some sort of charming quirk.  She's a pain in the ass.

I really liked Gabi and Jada's conversation in the kitchen about Jada's promotion.  I expected Gabi to be rude and harsh with Jada and it was such a pleasant surprise to see her so loving and understanding.  I'm like this Gabi recast more and more and today I loved her.  Getting her away from Stefan is the best thing that's happened for the character.

Getting rid of Stefan entirely is good all on it's own.

Good show today apart from Tate and Holly's borefest resuming.

Loved Sophia sticking up for herself and dumping him. She is such a great character and I love her self respect. She is far too good for Tate though, and now I worry they will go the obvious route and either make her evil or pregnant or both. I prefer Aaron to Tate too, and I honestly would like to see him and Sophia make a go of it, as the two people used and discarded by Saints Tate and Holly. Maybe Aaron will pretend to be her baby daddy.

Cool to see Sarah and Kayla figure out how to administer the serum as I was wondering about the logistics of that myself. And thankfully, Xander voiced what people have been complaining about, that it is Sarah's choice, and that he will love her regardless of whether she walks again or not. I felt like I finally recognized him again today, after months of being set in Vengeance Mode. I will excuse the last 3 months as him being under huge trauma and not having the maturity to handle it. Just no more murdering relatives please Xander.

Brady and Ava need to find things to talk about other than his teen son's sex life, but I really like their vibe, and she is by far the superior choice to Krazy Kristen. I worry though that he is essentially ruined for any woman he comes near, because the tag team of Rachel and Kristen will make sure that the chosen one is bullied out of his life (see: Chloe). I think Ava is strong enough to stand up to them though. Fingers crossed.

What was that 5 second Paulina scene? Guess that counts towards her episode count this week lol

So enjoyed EJ niggling at Kristen and his joy as she realized she did in fact give away her advantage for nothing. She should have demanded Brady marry her first so she had something written in stone, not that it would matter, he made it clear he only cares really about Rachel, and he knows Kristen is bad news. EJ and Kristen are great together though, the actors really have good rapport. Same as when she is Susan. I miss Susan.
