From strictly a story-telling perspective the right way to end it is Voight leaving, either vertically in cuffs, or horizontally. And if alive, then no last-minute comeback/acquittal/off-on-a-technicality/etc. Horizontally (perhaps by his own hand) would work also.

But from a television perspective, however, I don't know if that would fly. Mind you, we just had one high profile "permanent" departure from Fire and several from Med. But I think the show needs Voight to keep the overall mood as it is. It's already gone too far in the direction of Chicago High School and Police Department in recent years. There are a million normal procedurals, but a dark character like Voight sets an interesting tone. We love to hate on Voight, but that's one of the big draws to me. Unless they plan to completely rework the premise and dump half the cast (NOT a good idea), then keep Voight until a worthy successor comes along.

Sounds like it should be a good episode. I’m liking forward to it, I just hope it concludes the Roy storyline - it’s been dragged on far too long imo.

I'm sorry, you will find yourself in the small minority here on this forum.  There are not many, if any, fans of Upstead (or Upton) here.

Upstead has zero chemistry in my opinion - the proposal scene and kiss was absolutely cringeworthy to me.  I felt bad for Jesse Lee Soffer.  Characters with chemistry usually don't need a slow build because they ooze sex appeal from the start and everyone wants them together ASAP.  These characters have not, and there is a large faction of the fanbase that can't stand them together.  But it's mostly Upton - we can't stand Upton.

I definitely don't see any Chemistry with Upstead as well. They seem Montone and lacking any heat. I seen more chemistry with Lindsay. Also I think Adam and Kim have more chemistry on this show.

That’s fine I’m happy to be in minority. 
 

Imo opinion have amazing chemistry, I didn’t find anything cringe worthy about their proposal scenes or kissing scene’s. 
 

I think they needed the slow build as obviously it was the second time he was dating his partner. I think the writers are/were building the characters to have more than sexual chemistry. It’s clearly supposed to be serious deep relationship unlike Hailey and Adam which was purely sexual and like you said didn’t need a slow build.

I have to agree with everyone else . I don’t think they have much romantic chemistry either. Friendship chemistry , maybe. But their romantic  scenes are cringeworthy and just seems forced. It just seems rapid build when they got together . I mean in the same season they got together, they already proposing . And from the beginning of their relationship, Upton has lied to him numerous times .  And the writer been wanting to be put them together since S5.

So I guess Jay has officially crossed over to the dark side lol. So instead of doing the right thing from now on h's going to enable Voight and help him cover things up. 

I found it funny that the agent said out of everybody in the unit he thought Jay was the one who would do the right thing, based off the show I been watching that would be Atwater.

Jay is such an inconsistent character. They use him however they need him, either as a Mr Rulebook, a challenger of Voight's or as someone who crosses the line himself when it suits him. If I were the actor, I'd probably have quit already. I wouldn't enjoy being that character as there's no real growth/development.

And the whole Roy story is over, with ZERO FUCKING consequences for anyone, and ZERO FUCKING CLOSURE for Kim. So what they used Kim being beaten & shot & almost dying to shove this soulless freaking ghoul onto us. Oh poor freakin' Hailey - commits crimes, lies, covers up murders, blackmails people, life is so freakin' hard for her because she had trauuuummmmaaaa as a child. Let's reward her with a wedding & a hypocrite of a husband. Eid's parting shot, ruin a once decent character with a great backstory & some depth & make him sell his soul for the devil.

Jay marries his second basketcase on a whim. Well isn't that just dandy.

Meanwhile, Kim, who was the actual victim gets dirt.

This show & the writers have jumped the shark, they have just put together half a season of proving that being dirty, corrupt assholes is just fine and dandy.

I thought I was watching "Days of our Lives." They need to stop with these bad love scenes.  Specifically, I don't need or want to see random naked shots of their backs and butt cracks, spread legs, or the actress putting her head back to signify the moment of penetration.  Just no.  It is awkward and strange.  The Chicago franchise seems to love this Hallmark channel soft porn style.  Chicago Med did a similar scene when Casey and Brett got together.  I think the actors did the scene well, but I hated the direction of the scene.

Anyway, good luck to Jay being married to that angry headcase.  The marital bliss will be short-lived.

I didn’t watch the episode because based on the advance preview I knew it was gonna be something 🤮🤢 because the girl is Upstead fan.  I think this showrunner will be worst than Eid

Voight makes the show. Is he a great wholesome person? Hell no but IMO Jason Beghe is the best actor on the show and Voight is an interesting character again IMO lol

LOL I know what you mean about the Love Scenes but JMO Casey and Brett actually have/had chemistry and their scene was sexier than Barfstead/Crimestead.

The dumbest episode of this season!

There were some intense moments and good lines between Jay and Voight, that's about it.

I was expecting the body they found was not Roy Walton, Voight covering his track ahead of time, switching his body with random cadaver etc.

This should not be the end of Roy's storyline, Kim/Adam/Kevin need to know the truth. Kim's PTSD and her curiosity about Roy's whereabout need to be addressed at some point. What's the point of having Kim heavily tortured then make it all about Jay & Hailey.

Yes she smiled lots at her wedding. I think now the Roy storyline is finished we will see a much happier Upstead going forward.
