LennieBriscoe March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 (edited) Hunter is in like Flynn. Top 10**, I'd wager. **Hunter, Grace, two of the last four young girls we just saw, Willie, Beane (the Quirk Factor), Chayce, Jason Warrior, +2 (Alyssa?). IMO! LennieBriscoe March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 (edited) Let's be real: There are only so many slots for....bigger....singers. Willie and Grace have those places filled. I love them both. But I want Grace to win. WAIT! WHO IS THIS DESHAWN?! WOW! Edited March 30, 2021 by LennieBriscoe Link to comment
LennieBriscoe March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 So, either I was asleep, or some singers like Colin we haven't seen before or much of. Because he's good! Top 24 down to 12, let alone 10, won't be pretty! Link to comment
LennieBriscoe March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 (edited) No denying Anilee's voice, but I've never cottoned to the Runs School of Singing. So, down to Drake or Baby Daddy Cecil for #24.....I'm picking Drake, based on the Showstoppers..... And it's.....Cecil! Enjoy the ride, Ceece! Edited March 30, 2021 by LennieBriscoe Link to comment
Annber03 March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 Hm, I would've picked Drake between those final two, myself. I'm also downright stunned that Nia didn't go through. I think last night's batch of contestants was stronger overall, but I do think the performances got better as the show went on. I'm glad Willie, Deshawn, and Alana are going through. And I'm glad Liahona took Katy's stern words to heart and was able to bounce back as she did. 8 Link to comment
Ms Blue Jay March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 (edited) Feel like screaming....... I tried to write down all the people that I was mad about being eliminated, but at some point I started to lose count: Althea?! FUNKE??!?!??!?!?!?!?!?! Laila?!?!?!??!?! Funke is so good that she feels like a ringer, like way too good for this show. That's how I feel when I hear her sing. I'm happy about Cecil and Liahona, but I'm pissed off about a lot of the rest. Katy's treatment of Liahona, for the horrendous crime of loving her family, enough already. Shut up about it. Shut UP about it. If they would have picked Drake instead of Cecil for doing that Luke Bryan song, I would have thrown something. Oh my god. Poor Drake, but that was just not good. Luke acting like he was at a concert was hilarious though, and so was Katy being catatonically shocked. Drake pretty much sang in monotone the entire performance and I was worried that them having so much fun meant they were going to put him through. Colin? Seemed out of (pant pant) breath the whole (pant pant) time , what the hell was that? Edited March 30, 2021 by Ms Blue Jay 3 Link to comment
Diana Berry March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 I thought Grace’s rendition of Father was fantastic. But the judges were like ‘eh could have been better’. I don’t understand them. I’d give back eye rolling faux country girl of last night for some of the rejects from tonight. Glad Ryan is cleaned up for the live shows next week. Hate the beard and long hair. 6 Link to comment
Ms Blue Jay March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 (edited) Sorry, forgot. Where the hell did Madison come from? Curly red hair? Singing "It's a Man's World"? Is this her first appearance on the show? Do the judges have real control over who makes top 24? The producers probably have much of a say, right? From what I'm watching, if I take it at face value, it seems like Katy has so much say and control over what's happening. I really don't understand a lot of the choices. It seems like she takes things way too personally, like Liahona being understandably upset over her brother (SHE'S A KID??????????) and people choosing "the wrong song". For the crime of people choosing the wrong song, Katy lays into them, except if she likes them, like Grace, then she says "Yeah her performance sucked, but I like her, so it doesn't matter." Poor Lionel is at home, but he likes everything. I hope he gets a say. Edited March 30, 2021 by Ms Blue Jay 4 Link to comment

Koalagirl March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 I think they purposely sent through some people to the top 24 as fodder to protect the really good ones. After all, people will be getting voted out so hopefully the better contestants will be left for the top 12. 4 8 Link to comment
ms gilly March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 Is Tyra Banks writing Katie’s “chairs” speeches? Her words are so stilted and sanctimonious and contradictory and...ugh! So many wrong choices, show. Not sure why I expected better. 5 11 Link to comment

Vermicious Knid March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 I liked Liahona, but this was a joke performance of a joke song and she should not have gone through. But I do agree Emi needs more time to bake. She has a lot going for her and will be great in a couple of years. Grace and Willie will be in the top 10, probably top 4, and Alanis will be that one person who keeps hanging on while getting worse each week if she makes it. Because there has to be a reason we didn't see her genre or duet performances, not even a snippet. 7 Link to comment
LennieBriscoe March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 I apparently put my comments in the Round #1 thread. Oh, well. Will simply repeat that I'm now for Grace, Willie, Deshawn, and Jason Warrior. And a big NO NIA RENEE?! WTH, SHOW?! 1 Link to comment
leighdear March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 Madison has stunning looks and sounds really great. She looks like the love child of Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Beales. I don't remember seeing her at the auditions, but she must not have a traumatic/dramatic enough backstory to have more camera time in the beginning. I think Willie is OK. Like Reuben Studdard, I think he gets more attention than his talent actually warrants. But of course he'll be in the finale. The kids who voted for the "Velvet Teddy bear" back in season 2 will probably have their kids voting for Willie this season. 5 Link to comment

Yea, Katy is VERY biased. At least she doesn't even try to hide it though lol. I thought this episode was much worse than Sunday's. I never thought much of Hunter before but he was probably my fave of the night, probably mostly because of the song. But he did sound the best he ever has imo. Willie sounded the best he has to me. I still don't really give a shit about him though. I don't remember seeing Alana? (the woman who sang Bust Your Windows) before. She is stunning. I thought her performance was really fun but she didn't sound great. I love Madison (big curly red hair) because she seems slightly unhinged lol. They did indeed show her audition and I believe they showed her during the duets round as well. I was stunned Althea didn't make it. What a bummer. But probably for the best since she likely would have been miserable the whole time missing her daughter. So, a live audience and celebrity partners next week. That seems very unwise during a pandemic lol. And I have never heard of like half of the 'celebrities' they mentioned. 4 Link to comment

TeeMo March 30, 2021 Share March 30, 2021 After a year with so much time to watch TV I am basically all out of things to watch so I gave this show a try again despite my dislike for the judges’ panel. Found a lot of this season’s contestants more interesting than in recent seasons but Katy manages to ruin it for me every time. At this point they should just save their money, let go of Luke and Lionel and let Katy spend the entire show making her overwrought pronouncements to each contestant since the only thing I remember Luke contributing to last night’s episode was his version of the New Kids dance and Lionel just mostly seemed to smile on that giant screen while Katy never shut up. 5 Link to comment

PhD-Purgatory15 March 31, 2021 Share March 31, 2021 The rest of the Top 24 (13 Girls; 11 Boys) Boys Cecil Ray-Ok, ok. We get it. You are doing this for your daughter. Colin Jamieson-Wheezy former boy bander has to be seen as early cannon fodder. Might be worth a decent song choice while he's still around. Deshawn Goncalves-Maybe the most vocally gifted of the 11 guys, leaves little to no impact every time he shows up on screen. Hunter Metts-Did we really need him and Wyatt Pike in the Top 11 Guys? Really? Willie Spence-How well will another "velvet teddy bear" a la Ruben Studdard play in 2021? Girls Alana (Del Sherman)-Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the first contestant eliminated from S19.. Alanis Sophia-Still waiting for her to break out the toy microphone again. Anilee List-Lives with Tourette's, has AI alum James Durban in her corner, completely disappeared between initial audition and last night. Ava August-28 year old 15 year old is a rare singer-songwriter type (along with Cassandra) on the female side this go round. Casey Bishop-Could be Alison Iraheta version 3.0, or she could flame out early with poor song choices.. Grace Kinstler-Grace, Alyssa (and a couple of others) will try to out yell each other week after week 😞 Liahona (Olayan)-Hahahahahahahaha. I would've loved to be there to see the epic level side eye she would've received after coming back with a yes after her duet debacle and her gimmicky Meghan Trainor abomination. Madison Walker-0% chance she hasn't been groomed for this since she was 5 or 6. Probably has a doozy of a stage mom, too. Mary Jo Young-If you just had to have Julia Michaels' voice in S19, why didn't you tab her as someone's Celebrity Duet partner? -I knew, I knew Emisunshine, Lizzy, and Ash would all be no's, so I was pre-sad for all three. Poor Ash, didn't even get a glimpse of her in the Showstopper round at all. She simply disappeared into the AI ether, along with the two floppy haired guys that dueted together, Xavier the guy taking Chinese classes at Yale, and Re'h the burlesque Army singer. At least Emi & Lizzy had their Showstopper performances shown so I guess there's that.. -They clearly went into S19 with the goal of not having anyone country make a deep run. We only have two on the Guy side and none on the Girls (unless you consider Hannah country, I just consider her more Southern than anything). And I wouldn't necessarily say Caleb or Cecil really have the kind of voices to make it to Top 6 or 5. I could be wrong though. 3 Link to comment

In audition she was all about her nickname being MooMoo, while Katy sat there in a cow-print dress. Then they point out that she's from Arkansas and she says, yep she's Arkansassy . She was over the Top in her Duets segment with DeShawn. AND she has worn pink for every single performance. Everything she does is very calculated, as is every single curl on her head. 9 hours ago, PhD-Purgatory15 said: The rest of the Top 24 (13 Girls; 11 Boys) Boys Cecil Ray-Ok, ok. We get it. waving feather April 4, 2021 Share April 4, 2021 (edited) Not a fan of Grace as of right now. I may change my mind on her later on but so far I haven't really enjoyed her renditions. She has a lovely lower register, a powerful high register but there's something missing in between. She doesn't do enough build up in the songs and just goes form 0 to 60 in her songs and it is jarring for me. The dynamics are a bit off. She seems like she has the tools to be a great singer but not really using them effectively yet. Edited April 4, 2021 by waving feather 1 Link to comment
