When Cain tries to be a hero at a crash scene, he is struck by a car, causing Chastain's doctors to put aside their personal issues to try and save his life. Conrad and Nic team up to help one of the crash victims, whose secretive past makes it difficult to identify a diagnosis. Bell brings his TV crew to the hospital in hopes of garnering positive attention for Chastain. Mina opens up to Nic, only to find out that Nic is holding on to a secret of her own.

I know it's probably wrong, but I am kind of loving that Cane is getting a taste of his own treatment. Karma is a wonderful thing. That includes his patients starting a surgery without him present and effing him up and putting him on a respirator.

First, the whistleblower/witness protection woman - didn't make sense.  If the "boyfriend" found her (glimpse on TV), wouldn't the people she put in jail also seek retribution?  Maybe I've watched too many criminal shows, LOL!

Interesting with Cain but I'm sure he'll recover (from the surgery) but how will it affect him with his colleagues?

Devon is getting perilously close to the ragged edge

Mena & AJ - a bit of a rough patch but seems to have sidestepped that disaster--for the moment

ConNic - Still not enthusiastic about the pregnancy; couldn't they have waited several episodes or even to end of the season?

Bell - Mr. Selfless.🙄  Wasn't this scenario (saving the hospital/good publicity for hospital) done in a previous season.  Still liked him better as HODAD😂

The boyfriend did say that he had an aunt or something who lived in Atlanta who saw her on the news and called him. A couple of people getting hurt in a car crash isn't national news so I can believe that whoever is out to get her didn't see the story. And the FBI is about to move her again so it seems like she's pretty safe.

If Cain was a real person, I'd feel horrible but Cain the fictional character getting exactly what he deserves is why I love stories. If he hadn't been such an arrogant control freak, Kit's residents would have been in that OR and they would have waited instead of cutting into him. The moment he got injured, I was hoping it would be a Dr. Drake Ramoray thing from Friends where the only person who could have saved him was himself.

I love Mina but she is super judgmental and never seems to learn to give people a chance. Bell was a shit early on but for years now has been a good, focused doctor who puts the patients and the hospital first. Her code is too rigid.

Fair point - boyfriend did mention that; however, SHE is in witness protection.  Unless they were married (moving the entire family into WitPro), I don't see how he could go with her.  But again, I have to suspend belief.

Mena did apologize for being so quick to be judgmental.  But Bell certainly could have also met with  his "trusted, supportive, aligned staff", e.g., ConNic, AJ/Mena, Devon  to share about the potential hospital sale.  After all, it's now become a lovefest for Bell🤣 and a vile hatred of Red Rock.

Whatever happened to his ailment(s), i.e. shaking hand tremor?

When they started the surgery on Dr. Cain, they had that weird dream-scene where he jumped up from the cutting board and pulled that thing out of his throat.  I thought what the show was telling us was that he hadn't been put under the anesthesia correctly and could actually feel them cutting him open.  That freaked me out!  It appears that wasn't what happened, but it would make a good story.

I'm glad Dr. Bell is a good guy now, but I hope they keep Dr. Cain as a villain.

I can't say I feel that bad for Cain. I genuinely would be ok if he died, or stayed on the vent for a long time, or if he just lost his ability to perform surgery. Any of these options work for me.

I thought this too and I don't think that it's out of the realm of possibilities since Cain hasn't woken up yet. It's terrifying and, if this happened, I'd probably feel bad for the guy.

To be fair, Bell HAD been doing shady shit up to last season and he still withholds a lot from his colleagues, so what we see from Bell isn't always what the other characters see. So Mina being judgmental isn't the worst thing. I do agree her code can be too rigid, but I think she always means well. And Chastain HAS had plenty of shady doctors over the years so I can't really blame her for being hesitant on the reason for the camera crew.

Devon is slowly spiraling. It's a better storyline for him that some of the others he's had, so that's good. I like that we're focusing on his grief and I wonder how he will turn it around.

The Witness Protection story was ok, albeit predictable at times.

My knowledge of WITSEC is based on the TV series - In Plain Sight but unmarried partners can be relocated together if they both sign the contract. Obviously it's a huge step because if they break up, the witness has to be relocated again - which is terrible for the witness who has to establish a new identity and expensive for the government.

It's also a huge commitment for the unmarried partner who has to make a decision to completely leave all of their family and possibly their careers behind. If someone is an established professional that's a huge ask - eg. a doctor would have difficulty practicing especially if they had a somewhat high profile career.

Yes, and that was clearly why she didn't even ask him to go with her in the first place. My knowledge of WITSEC also comes from In Plain Sight, but I have to believe that is realistic. It would be pretty terrible if the US Government refused to let someone's life partner to come with them just because they weren't married, especially considering some people were not allowed to get married until a few years ago. And in this case it sounded like Ava and her boyfriend were thinking of getting married anyway.

What I'm confused about.......Wasn't the boyfriend calling her by the name she was currently using in Atlanta. Don't people in WITSEC change their names?

I actually thought it was Cain fighting the anesthesia because he always needs to be in control. By allowing himself to finally go under, he loses all control and is left in the hands of his colleagues, most of which he feels superior to.

OMG! I'm not into any sort of horror, so this really freaked me out. As well as the additional surgery scenes. Bleh.

Nic, if the patient doesn't want to be filmed could you pull the curtain?  🙄

I remember Dr. Bell being the bad guy in the 1st season ... I like him being the good guy, and of course I want him and the Jane Leeves character to get together.

The thing with Cane was that after we got that weird dream sequence where he pulled out the tube, we did see his fingers twitch which made me wonder if maybe he wasn't completely under and could hear the residents? I hope he didn't feel the actual surgery *shudders*

His finger twitched after the sequence, so I think he was partially awake for his surgery.

I thought the exact same thing! I'm uncomfortable in the ER regardless, so a camera crew filming would only add to that. And typically in real life, curtains are drawn for any type of treatment.

Am I the only one who doesn't want Nic and Conrad to have a baby yet? Adding a kid or a baby to many TV shows just tends to drag the show down. I'm not a fan of this.

And it would be a nice change  to see a couple who happens to choose not to have kids. Nothing wrong with that, just saying.

I know this is an old post, but I’ve seen this phrase a few times in this topic and have to add — it’s suspension of *disbelief*.

I am not sorry for Cain, and since he’s a fictional character, I’m great with him sitting with a vent for a while. I can use a break from his mustache twirling.
