It was so rewarding to watch McFaul shut Erickson up with the often used RW talking points that involve the misuse of Fascism and Socialism.  Boogey man words that stoke their base inside their little echo chambers.

I thought Bill took it way too easy on Megyn and that interview was a nothing berder.

Agreed.  If she wants to pretend she and her Fox show weren't part of what the "media" became during the years leading up to the 2016 election and what we have today, Maher certainly shouldn't have let her get away with that on his show.

That was pathetic. Claiming that the media "used to be" better and is just now getting terrible because they're so mean to Trump, who is totally right about getting rid of the free press, it's just his language that's a little extreme. Also we know how Megyn thinks minorities should advocate for equal rights. They should do it like she did, by sucking up to white men at the top by kicking people below her from her second-best position as white woman in a white supremacy.

Nice job with Bill also pushing the right wing cover story that they just really care about those fetuses and babies as if their entire agenda makes clear they aren't moved by children at all, they just don't want women to have any control over their bodies.

And I know he never will, but honestly when will he get a clue that the problem isn't "political correctness" or the petty sins of the left? If somebody can look at everything Trump and the Republicans have done and then still say that Warren or Sanders are just as bad, they just want the Fascism.

Wouldn't it be refreshing if they'd just admit that?

I am realllllly tired of Bill lecturing about "you can hate Trump, you can't hate his supporters". I beg to differ. I most certainly can hate Neo-Nazis and White Supremacists and loony gun nuts with itchy trigger fingers.  I can even hate the cowards in the Senate that protect a pathologically lying criminal "president". STFU, Bill.

I think this is yet another example of Bill having something insightful to say, but not making the effort to express it cogently and explain the nuances. I'm pretty sure based on what's he said in the past that he has no problem hating Trump's enablers and certain parts of his base and is trying to say that we can't lump in everyone who voted for Trump or supports him on certain issues with them if we want to succeed in voting him out. There is certainly something there if he wanted to do the work, but he doesn't. As usual.

Of course he took it easy she is totally his type. Blonde, photogenic and willing to say outrageous things to get attention without actually believing anything. Plus she gives him an opportunity to tell us once again how he was mistreated by ABC for being too honest, which he will take every time instead of actually asking questions and calling out BS.

Megyn Kelly is a vile nasty opportunistic cruel human being and I don't care to watch her in anything. I am glad that she got fired from NBC. She played a destructive role in what we are currently living now. I don't want to go off-topic so I will refrain from saying more.  Bill Maher is an asshole, always has been and always will be.

I couldn’t watch because I actively hate 3 out of 5 of his guest. What was Newkirk saying that warranted her inclusion on the show?

It was basically how animal rights have improved since PETA was founded 40 years ago this year.

She kept going on about her old show.

Must want it back on the air or something even though she walked away with $60 million from NBC.

See as much as Trump attacked her after the first primary debate in 2016, she is totally on the red team.

She's probably aged out of any big show where she'd be the only host.

Bill says shit no other celebritiy liberals will say, and while I don't agree with everything he thinks, and can understand a lot of the criticism about him, I still applaud him. I would fear for my life to speak against Trump as he does.

No he doesn't...he constantly panders to right wingers and loves to bond with them over things like getting kicked off the college lecture/comedy circuit and network TV. Bill isn't a liberal..never was and never will be. He has libertarian leanings and as he ages is becoming more conservative. His show is no longer the sharp, witty salon type discussion/debate style must see show on Friday night...I quit watching last year. I was tired of his continual rants about milllenials, the Me Too movement, religion, children, marriage and of course, his favorite...Democrats and liberals. It's interesting to see from this thread that nothing has changed. If I want to see sharp, brilliant, witty political/social humor I watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver...probably the best show in the genre now. Bill is yesterday's news and soooo predictable.

I don't watch anymore but I'm not surprised to hear that Bill played patty cake with her...just like he did with Milo Yiannopoulos, Ann Coulter, Jordan Peterson, Daryl Issa, Duncan Hunter and Dana Rohrabacher. And you're right...he is an asshole.

"Waaaah! The media is soooo stupid 'cuz they fired me for saying stupid stuff!" Actually Megyn Kelly, it was NBC that was stupid for hiring a Fox News hack like yourself thinking you changed. And of course, Bill came to her defense with his usual "WE GET TO SAY WHATEVER WE WANT AND YOU ALL HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT!!!" attitude (unless you're Hillary Clinton, then Bill says "LOCK HER UP!!!")

Does Bill really believe that the authorities, the military, even the Supreme Court and the GOP will allow this president to remain in the White House, if and when he loses in November? If he's not out of there by noon time January 2021, then he will be forcibly removed from the building. Bill needs to crawl back inside his cave if he thinks otherwise.

PeTA is to animal rights what NAMbLA is to child welfare.

Another shit show all around.

This is the one thing I actually can cut Bill some slack on.  We have seen no evidence that anyone will actually stop Trump from doing anything, and in fact, have seen that the GOP is ready to accept, absolve, and support any Trump act or behavior..

The scenario Bill paints of Trump claiming the election was "totally rigged" and declaring it invalid....maybe backed up with some evidence of Russian hacking....could happen, IMO.  The SC will look at evidence the intelligence agencies provide that show the election was indeed hacked by Russia, Iran, China, somebody, and will decide whether POTUS is constitutionally able to invalidate an election for any reason...and we have seen how the SC rules in questionable POTUS election situations, not to mention his lackies on the SC.  With GOP support, yes, I can see Trump having the support of the GOP, the SC, and thus the military to remain in office even if he loses the election.

Maher, by bringing it up all the time, is voicing a fear.  Trump, by bringing it up all the time in his rallies, is normalizing it and paving the way for it to happen.

Yeah, that was the one thing I agreed with him on. That and how disturbing it is that once again Democrats seem to have already given in on this by saying they have to win by a landslide to avoid that. Iow, they don't have any plan for what to do when it happens and they've implied that if they don't win by a landslide, maybe he does get to stay in office.

The authorities do not like him, the military doesn't like him (especially after the way he pardoned Eddie Gallager after his own unit turned on him after what he died) The SC can't be impressed with his behavior, and the GOP, while they support him in public, most of them can't stand his guts in private. And if they do lose the Senate in November, there's not going to be a groundswell of support for his staying in office. And if paranoid maniacs like Bill thinks the Democrats will go "Awww, pretty please with cream and sugar" and do nothing are in for a big surprise. This president WILL be forcibly removed from office, and there will not be an uprising and there will not be a civil war breaking out when that time comes. The majority of Americans will not allow that to happen.

So Bill and all the people who support this tinfoil conspiracy need to give their goddamn fucking heads a shake and snap the fuck out right now!
