Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!

I was browsing Bates Instas and while on her way to BSB, Whit said Michael called that morning and offered to take her kids to the zoo. Michael posted pictures and the group included Jeb, Jud, Callie, Kelly and Whit's kids. I felt bad because why weren't Layla and Zade included? Presumably, Michael and Kelly would've known Carlin would be at the meeting because Whit was talking about it like it was a big deal, so it makes me kind of sad they didn't at least take Layla.

I know you could argue that maybe Carlin was asked and she turned it down, but neither she nor Evan strike me as the types to decline free babysitting. Also given how much both sides talk about Layla and Khloe being besties, you'd think they'd make sure not to leave one out. I'm probably overthinking it but couldn't help but feel bad.

@BitterApple - I get it, but the way Whit said it on IG it almost sounded to me like Michael was like - what can I do for Z&W who just had baby #5, hey how about I watch Nos. 1-4 the first time they go to work. It didn't sound like it was going to be this whole family trip with Jeb, Jud, Callie, and Kelly. Like I assume it was just going to be Michael + 4 kids. But we all know Kelly - oh you're going to the zoo - here take Jeb and Jud and Callie off my hands too. And then Kelly probably got FOMO - I mean a BSB meeting going on and no one invited her + her whole household is going out someplace, well she can't stay home and cook dinner or clean.

Part of me wonders if Layla is feral though. I feel like Z&W's kids are pretty well behaved as they have a ton of parental attention so it may not be a big deal for Michael to take them out - even Law takes them out sometimes. Maybe Layla is the kind of kid you only take if you can go 1:1 - not along with 4 others.

And BTW has anyone noticed that parents of the year are leaning hard into - OMG Layla asked daddy to dance oh booohoooo Evan will be dancing with her at her wedding in no time, time is going so fast blah blah. And clearly they got a ton of IG attention bc then they did it 2 more times. I'm sorry but I 100% believe that Carlin is prompting that child to ask daddy to dance and then daddy is putting on a show bowing like a prince blah blah. Like kids play a game and then move onto the next game, they aren't likely asking daddy to play the same - dance with me like a prince - game nightly. Or if they do perish the thought we keep some stuff just for family and don't post it nightly . . . .

They've got that kid performing like a trained seal. And did anyone notice that the dance moved from the playroom to now in front of the mirror and just looks more "scripted" bc Carlin sits somewhere to film it so that she doesn't ruin the shot by appearing in the 25 ft mirror. And oh yeah in the mirror you can see a freaking lighting rig - not the ring lights influencers use - but I'm talking a full rig that UPTV or Hollywood movie studios use.

May just be me but my god giving this child ZERO normal education or age appropriate activities other than makeup and dancing like a princess + raising her to perform on command in front of your full studio - just does not seem like it'll have great effects long term.

Like I can legit envision Layla having a toddler tantrum bc she doesn't want to dance with daddy or play with makeup today or whatever and Carlin standing over her being like - do you like our car, well we have to pay for our car, you're doing it.

Yeah, dancing with Daddy has become their latest shtick. Carlin will post lame captions about how these moments melt her heart, but she's clearly staged and prompted Layla. In the first video, she just happens to be filming and aiming at an open doorway, and Layla enters at that exact moment? Riiiigghht. I imagine most of Carlin's Fundie fan base has husbands who are lazy and disinterested, so they gush over Evan doing girl dad stuff. I'm sure it'll be no time before Carlin takes a page out of Alyssa's book and starts filming those nauseating Daddy/Daughter dates.

It may be as simple as car space. Most of Whitney's kids are still in car seats. Kelly went but typically drives smaller cars. So if she had three and Michael has four, would there have been room for Layla and Zade? Then you have to consider strollers, diaper bags, etc. Kelly could have left Jeb, Jud, and Callie at home, but don't know that I have ever seen Kelly actually drive her grandchildren around or care for them long enough to make it around the zoo.

What about Layla’s “homeschooling?” 😆

I hope it’s not just Michael by herself. That’s a lot of kids.

Also, apologies to those who love their pumpkin spice, but the color of those drinks looks foul.

Right? If it were me, I’d absolutely have a limit of to the number of kids I took. I don’t blame her for not wanting to supervise 6+ by herself. It’s not safe, imo.

The Stew Crew is in Nashville so maybe that’s why Layla and Zade weren’t at the zoo. C&E probably left the big meeting at BSB earlier than W&Z, after all we know they needed to get on the road, and W&Z are the ones who actually work.

I’m sorry but the obsession with mommy and daddy Stewart is a bit much. They just visited last weekend with one of his sisters/BIL for their baby boy’s bday. So 4 days later they are there themselves? I get it - free home cooked meals and babysitting but my god - what 28 yr old needs this much family time.

So the original dancing with daddy video got 3.4 million likes and 930k shares on IG - apparently it got picked up by bigger IG accounts. And then someone (not C&E) posted it on TikTok where it got another 828k likes, 129k shares, and saved 63k times.

They must be salivating. I mean this is the engagement they’ve dreamt off since Evan quit working. Jury is still out on what $ was made if any. It wasn’t a sponsored post and while IG  has a reels $ program, where you can make 10k, 20k etc if your reel goes viral - turns out that program is invite only and IG stopped sending new invites last March. I have my doubts they’ve been in that program for the last 6 mos as this is their first viral reel. No $ on TikTok though some rando who shared it made $.

Apparently hasn’t occurred to these assholes that in 2-3 days millions of people have looked at their child. Millions of people have felt the need to share images of their child, and 63k people felt the need to save a video of their child. Sure it’s mostly conservative Christian mommies who’ll show it to daddy so he can act out the same thing with their toddler to have the perfect wedding day video. But hello is she not friends with Joy. Does she not get that out of these millions and particularly those who felt the need to save the video to watch repeatedly there ARE a % of Josh Duggars out there? Who cares if they’re inspired by the devil, they’re still getting their jollies off YOUR kid.

But they don’t care - cha ching - either direct $ via IG or the chance of more ppl watching this weeks YT. To Evan this just validates his decision not to work bc social media is a job.

She says she is getting her multi-day EEG in early October. She and Evan are blaming doctors, nurses, etc. on the scheduling. They are also attempting to pad expectations that it is unlikely the test will show anything. Evan says that he may have to talk to the doctor because they understand that Carlin will essentially be sitting around. He thinks it would be better if she exerted herself to see if she had a seizure - he suggests a treadmill.

They do plan to go to Jackson's wedding and will be staying in Florida to do some sightseeing. So the EEG must be around the first week.

They answered a question about bullying. They joke about her bullying Evan and Layla bullying her. Then they say they haven't experienced much bullying since they were homeschooled. Finally they say there are mean people online.

They are trying to find a dance class for Layla.

Someone asked Carlin if she ever feels like a plastic bag. Evan clearly got the reference and eventually clued her into the Katy Perry song.

Zade gets bonus points for turning out the big huge light on them.

They managed to create an entire video without a single Tesla shot.

I’m glad Evan knows more than the health professionals concerning the EEG! Hopefully none of them are following C&E on SM and hearing that they are to blame for the scheduling issues.

Never mind Carlin is not known to frequently exert herself... and 5 of her seizures took place when she was:

  • Walking down a hall to do laundry
  • Standing watching a baseball game
  • Standing in a church lobby talking
  • Walking into a parking lot (twice)

I think she'll be walking, talking and standing during her hospital stay. 🚶🏽‍♀️📱🧍🏽‍♂️

Just watch -- when the EEG shows no seizures, they'll blame the absence of a treadmill, or the doctors and medical staff not listening to Giggle Boy. Assuming she even has the EEG. I wouldn't be surprised if they just have to go to Florida for pre-wedding nonsense and thus she has to miss her "appointment."

They’ll “forget” and when they do remember they’ll be confused about what the appointment was for. It’s happened before with these two.

I agree about Ma and Pa Stewart. I like my in-laws, I really do. But would I want to be with them 24/7 3-4 days at a time, several times a month? No. I'm sure E&C think it's great, because they don't have to do anything, but it's not normal. Don't they want to spend time as a nuclear family? As a couple? Doesn't Carlin have any mom friends? Doesn't Evan have any buddies to bro around with? They attend a big mega-church, right? It's odd they don't seem to have any relationships, aside from the creepy pastor and his wife, especially given that they're both extreme extroverts.

Evan is an idiot.  No surprise there.  He has probably heard of cardiac stress tests, where the subject exercises and their heart is monitored to see if it's getting enough oxygen.  Seizures are not angina and there is no reason for Carlin to exert herself physically to try to trigger a seizure because that is not how it works.

Evan obviously skipped science class in homeschool.

If I remember correctly, she had a stress test and said she felt bad or claimed to have an episode. Evan was upset he wasn't allowed to be present for the procedure. Results, according to them, claim nothing was wrong with regards to her heart during that.

Previously they had claimed not to be happy because Evan and the kids were not allowed to be with her during the test. Now they are saying they have to arrange babysitters.

Carlin seemed very happy at the idea of cameras watching her for five days. Or maybe I'm just projecting there. I was annoyed at their ignorance is basically willful ignorance. They don't want to learn anything.

I'm wondering what happened to the creepy friend who seemed to always be around when Carlin's issues started.

We were also gifted with the vowel song. I admit it has been a while since I studied education, but the memorization/song thing was never my favorite. Layla was asked by her mother how many vowels are there and what are they. She then sings the song. They go on about how smart she is knowing her vowels. Learning the alphabet, phonics, etc. is more important, in my opinion than memorization of things she doesn't understand or know. And I could scream at her little desk being pointed at a corner.

This is basically a 5 day hospital stay. Carlin's room will be monitored by cameras, so she'll mostly be left alone after she's hooked up. I do wonder if she'll be restricted mostly to her bed because she'll be considered a fall risk.

Who wants to bet Carlin's first episode will happen when Evan assists her in the bathroom? The place with no cameras. Of course they'll be no abnormal brain activity during the episode either.

I bet either of these 2 things will happen:

1:  Carlin’s diagnosis remain a mystery, and one that no doctor can figure out, or

2: She will be unable to complete the study.  She will say she misses her kids, Evan, or some other such b.s.

I doubt that they do. The last time I was in the pulmonologist office I noticed  a sign in the exam room that read "No video or audio filming and no photographs allowed." Why would they allow Evan to stay with her during her 5 day EEC procedure? He will just be in the way. Evan needs to be told that this is not party time where he gets to "eat snacks and chill out" like he does when a family member is in labor.

Short of having an episode Carlin will mostly hanging in her room alone, so I don't think Evan will be in anyone's way. And nurses are overworked everywhere, having Evan there to walk her to the bathroom, etc, is actually helpful.

I doubt there are any video or picture restrictions when they're just hanging in the hospital room.

I pointed this out on Reddit once, and got downvoted/chastised for it, that one of these couples who had just gotten married was spending a LOT of time with their in-laws, which would not be my priority as a newlywed, even in a”normal” marriage that isn’t hyper focused on having kids immediately. It’s nice to have family around, but good lord.

Yes, if she doesn't need help going to the bathroom at home, there's no reason she'll need it at the hospital either.  She isn't having anesthesia, she will be getting no medications except for ones she's already taking at home.

And, if Carlin somehow manages to have an actual seizure and is post-ictal, they will want an actual trained staff member present to help the first time she gets up; they're not going to trust Evan to handle it, especially once they've met Evan.  Believe me, there is going to be plenty of chatter in the break room about the dingbat with the obnoxious husband they're been saddled with for 5 days.

Evan will be a major PITA to the staff, IMO.  I can see him wanting to rearrange the room to suit his filming, asking for snacks and food for himself, wanting extra pillows or blankets and generally just being annoying.

He should visit for no more than an hour or two a day.  Carlin is an adult, they have young children and the priority needs to be caring for the kids.  Instead, they will treat the hospital stay like it is some sort of romantic getaway/second honeymoon for just the two of them.

If they have her labeled as a fall risk, they may insist on it. But in her case it might depend on the last time she had an “episode” and how bad it was, which I’m guessing has been A WHILE. We shall see.

I have spent time in a hospital being labeled a fall risk and getting to the bathroom with that label, even when it’s not that far, is made more complicated by what machines you’re hooked up to and if they can be unplugged or come with you and if I was the nurse, I wouldn’t trust Giggle Boy ™️ with anything more complicated than the tv remote.

The only machine should be the EEG electrodes which she managed at home with no problems.  The cap usually connects to the machine with a single plug which can be disconnected as needed.

Well I mean Evan already announced a few weeks ago how much he LOVES being at the hospital as long as nothing bad is going on - he sees it as a chance to hang out and eat snacks. I mean they showed up in Z&W's room daily at noon leaving at 11 pm!? He even joked about staying over and that was with his effing SIL!? So unless they get really stern nursing staff who makes him leave at the end of daily visiting hours, yeah he is moving in for 5 days. I mean why is he going to be staying home - to toss some Doritos at the kids? That's what his mommy or babysitter or Michael are for.

They are loser-ish enough with nothing to do that Whit's 48 hrs in the hospital gave them something to do by hanging out all day every day. How much do you want to bet Z&W do NOT return that favor? Maybe Whit stops by 1 time but I wouldn't be shocked if she didn't - but in any event I don't think Z&W are upsetting their kids' routine to go hang out with C&E all day every day. And guaranteed you won't see others either - though maybe G&K come for a photo opp?

Maybe they can use this time to consider how everyone else has lives and likes their lives besides these 2 and maybe they should think about how they want to live moving forward. Afterall with 5 days to hang out all day every day with no screaming kids, should be lots of time to have deep and meaningful conversations.

But they're not deep enough for that. Instead it'll be - where can we set up the ring light to get the perfect shot of Carlin giving Evan a crying hug if he is made to leave nightly or even if he goes home once to see the kids for an hour.

Anyone know when Jackson's wedding is? Because they're doing this for 5 days + going to Jackson's wedding + going sightseeing/vacationing before or after the wedding + fixing to go on their annual camping trip [i.e. sit on the side of a roadside ditch for a few days eating Chick Fila and on their laptops the whole time bc hey Josie does it - except they appear to camp for real and enjoy it]. Setting up to be another go go go month - no wonder he can't work.

Though you know what he can do - leave the house by 5 am to go to the gym + go golfing after + get home by lunch time. So hmm he CAN leave her alone from 5 am to noon - hmm 7 hrs - what do you know, the length of a work day. Me thinks he COULD go do the electrician thing 8 hrs/day and Carlin would be fine - if only he could get off his ass.

Right? And Carlin will be able to sleep, watch tv, play on her phone/iPad, eat, etc. It’s not difficult.

Why would she need help walking to the bathroom? They’re only a few feet away in hospital rooms.

Because she's having an EEG due to passing out, falling and having seizures. I believe after one fall she was diagnosed with a concussion. Hospitals don't like folks passing out and injuring themselves on their watch. I'm assuming she'll be off any medications she is taking now (if she's even taking them), so by hospital standards, I'm guessing she's a fall risk.

I get that, I’ve been hospitalized 3 times, twice after major abdominal surgeries (once for a full week). Despite that, I was able to make it to the restroom (5 feet away) by myself, even while hooked up to the drip.

If I were Alyssa, I'd call dibs on hosting Law, Tiff, Michael and Brandon now, before the Bates horde descends on Florida for Jackson's wedding. You know the wheels will be turning in E&C's heads as to where they can crash for free, and she's at the top of the list.

Like the rest of you I'm curious as to how closely this EEG is scheduled to the nuptials, because yeah, no way E&C are gonna miss out on all the events and sightseeing trips. If Carlin catches wind that Josie or Katie is going down early to hit up Disney, that test is never happening.
