ozziemom August 27, 2022 Share August 27, 2022 I wonder if the reality of Evan graduating and the prospect of him being gone from early morning to evening five days a week hit Carlin pretty hard. Sort of like Jill Dillard when she realized Dreck actually went to an office full time. These girls were used to their parents being around all the time with irregular schedules. And there were always plenty of other people at home too. Something clearly happened during Zade’s birth but the continued episodes 🤷🏼♀️. They definitely enjoy attention but how long can they sustain this? 4 1 2 Link to comment

I don't know that Target is smart, but they do seem to be thoughtful when it comes to who they allow to publicize them. For that matter, it doesn't seem like they're as prone to use online influencers as some other retailers. I think mainly Carlin likes to namedrop and, amongst her poorly educated, vapid, fundie crowd; brands like Target, Chik-fil-A and Starbucks are considered the height of youthful sophistication. I say that as a major Target fan, BTW. They are currently remodeling my local store and it is a mess in there. I cannot wait to see how it turns out, but it is currently giving me the sads every time I go in. 4 Link to comment
cereality August 27, 2022 Share August 27, 2022 (edited) Guess they aren't getting enough hits on YT bc they are now previewing their videos on IG hoping people will go watch. Reality is they've gone from 400-500k views per week for OMG EMERGENCY to back to the 200k views no matter how much they hype it up. That's a weekly income hit of $1000-1500 per week bc us snarkers just won't go watch - lol. But IG previews it all for those who don't want to watch for them to make $. It's got Carlin seizing and convulsing on concrete - WTF - who wants to show that and what was Evan holding a phone with the other hand?? It addresses that Evan asked for an FMLA extension and his company said no they'd have to fire him, with Carlin sitting there teary about how her man is putting his life on hold for her after working sooo hard for 5 yrs with Evan playing doting husband so - no babe it isn't your fault, I'm happy to do it. And they throw in the bit about Zade having a cough so Evan took him to urgent care. Um do their kids not have a regular pediatrician - they use drop by services to manage care of an infant who has had a cold for a month?? Edited to Add: Per Reddit people who've watched - they apparently considered hiring 1-2 ppl to watch Carlin and the kids so Evan could work but the cost of that and the discomfort of being away from Carlin was too much. [Uh isn't he away from her when she goes shopping with her sisters etc. or even at church when he's off socializing with someone else. Like they didn't even try it for a week to see if it'd work or see if he could be away 4 hrs/day and thus work PT?] And she's going to have an inpatient EEG for 5 days in Oct. and if that doesn't figure this out, she's going to be referred to Mayo. What is stopping them from going to Mayo on their own now? I wonder if they have an HMO thru his job [and now thru COBRA] so they need a referral - I would assume so as those are the cheapest plans but given that they get drs to order cardiology tests even w the drs saying it probably isn't going to show anything, why not start bugging the drs to go to Mayo NOW and then Mayo finishes the testing and figures it out once and for all? Rather than waiting until Oct, referrals in Nov, then you hopefully get in by year end. I mean this started in May - you could even present it as - we need this sorted out so Evan can go back to work FT w/ some comfort that Carlin will be safe on her meds w/ just a nanny at home, bc we just bought a house and have 2 kids. They may need to step up the video productions to bring on more cash. Usually it's about $3-5 per 100k views. It's a pretty standard metric and people who do social media analytics have been confirming it on Reddit as I guess they can tell by looking at the stats on accounts what they'd generally make. So their EMERGENCY videos at first which were bringing in 500k views were making them $2500/wk, which I think got Evan pretty excited. But if you look at the views, there's only like 2-3 videos that got that many hits - right at the beginning when people were very curious. Their usual boring content - like crying hysterical tears about moving out of a rental or renovating the new house or whatever brings in closer to 150-200k views = $750-1000/wk. Hope Evan is watching his stats closely because lately even when he spins videos as medical updates, they're still getting about 200-250k views as people largely aren't THAT interested so that = $1000-1250/wk. Not saying $1250 wk is bad money as its = 65k/yr plus whatever they get from BSB which ain't much given their hordes of unsold inventory. 65k isn't bad money but not usually buy a big house and eat out constantly and vacation constantly w/ 2 kids in tow money either. And we don't KNOW they're on COBRA, for all we know they're on Medicaid [they're def sneaky enough to hide all the income to show the state they need Medicaid] - which then would make sense why they have to wait until a dr. says they can go to Mayo. But if they are on COBRA for a family of 4 even on a cheap HMO plan, that's no less than $1000/month [and if it were a good plan, closer to $1800-2000/mo]. Alas, Carlin's symptoms are not likely to interest any of the big guns enough to get her on the fast track. She's had a massive amount of testing with no specific cause found for her issues or seemingly any testing positive for any medical condition; the docs will see that and realize that the odds of finding something extremely unusual wrong with her are far less than the odds that she's just got anxiety and a need for attention and her episodes are not medical in origin. She is already seeing specialists at Vanderbilt, a highly esteemed facility, she's getting very competent care in all probability. So, Evan decided that 12 weeks of vacation FMLA was not enough and expected his new employer to let him have open ended time off while he posted all their vacations and trips and 'date nights' all over social media? He should be ashamed of himself. Alas, these people have no shame. Edited August 27, 2022 by Notabug 2 5 6 Link to comment

I have GAD, as does my husband, brother, and MIL. And that's just my direct family. No seizures or anything close to that presentation. Anxiety can present with a wide variety of symptoms, as can depression. Carlin was raised in a culture where mental health issues were not taken seriously, anyone complaining of anxiety or depression would be told they needed to pray more. Meanwhile, her parents also used the ER as their primary caregiver, it doesn't seem like any of those kids got regular care from a provider, that the only care they ever got was from the ER as Gil bragged to the world. Seems like Carlin has carried on that tradition for her kids. A baby who has been coughing for a month needs a head to toe assessment from a pediatric provider, not a quick trip to an Urgent Care, which, as the name says, is not for ongoing or chronic problems. I think Carlin has poor coping skills, in part due to her upbringing and lack of education; and she was completely overwhelmed when the show got cancelled just as her husband was starting a full time job, she had a second child and they bought a house. Not to mention the ongoing strife amongst the sisters. I think those stressors have possibly caused her physical symptoms because she doesn't have the ability to express them in any other way. I agree with everything you said, except for the notion that it could be something rarely seen or difficult to pinpoint. I only say this because I have been reading the medical mysteries on the NY Times website and there are some issues that have been through the mill so to speak with many well qualified specialists and by a rare stroke of luck, these people end up with just the right provider who can determine the issue. Sometimes there is a treatment or a cure but not always. So, while I have always thought some of Carlin's issues are in her head, so to speak, but doesn't make them any less valid, such as the Conversion Disorder mentioned. One of my friend's adult daughters has been having similar issues as Carlin, except for the "seizures" and she is in Boston and going to all those special specialists and her primary care dr. said he suspects long covid although she was the only one in her household who never tested positive when other members did. Dr. said she probably had it once or twice. 2 2 Link to comment

But Carlin won’t care - she’s been traveling maskless all over the country, including in airports/on planes. Her infant son has been sick for weeks and she still drags him around town daily and hosts houseguests AND their germy kids (who have also just flown maskless. And apparently their health care facilities don't require masks. Again, I'm so glad I live where I live. 2 2 Link to comment
Peanut6711 August 27, 2022 Share August 27, 2022 Between posting that he got hired (BSB) after getting fired (not returning to work post FMLA would go down as voluntary termination/job abandonment I'd imagine) I can't see any way he'd qualify for unemployment now. Financially, they are so screwed with a new (and likely big) mortgage, medical bills, and 2 kids. But they clearly aren't smart enough to realize that yet. 2 8 Link to comment
GeeGolly August 27, 2022 Share August 27, 2022 (edited) Well seeing as the only time they spend downstairs is in front of the giant mirror, once they move that upstairs they can rent out the first floor for income. 🤣 Edited August 27, 2022 by GeeGolly 9 Link to comment

I read that over 70% of those who bought new homes during that time period now have regrets. 3 4 2 Link to comment

Beyond house poor. 2 3 Link to comment

It felt a little like 2008 again -- people buying houses who had no business buying houses. Topic: I wonder if she'll actually go for the five-day EEG, especially without insurance, or if it'll be quietly brushed aside. Same for all her "episodes." 5 Link to comment

They have 2 young kids, both of whom have or have had health issues. If they chose to be uninsured now, they are truly deplorable. 4 2 Link to comment

Their only benefit is living in a low cost area. Their mortgage won't be that outrageous. I wonder what kind of down payment they had? That said, they're probably already underwater. 3 Link to comment

It might not be that outrageous to normal people, but considering all their extras, they might well have screwed themselves. I can't see Carlin going without her manicures or Starbucks or trips here and there. They got a manicure for a toddler, for crying out loud! 6 Link to comment
Salacious Kitty August 27, 2022 Share August 27, 2022 I saw the video of Layla getting her "mani." Evan commented that it was only $5. 1 1 1 1 Link to comment

Lunch and dinner is always fast food or restaurant meals. Daily Starbucks for two. Carlin gets her hair colored, the weekly nail salon visit, gas for all the back and forth to Nashville, the Target runs (although I suspect they don't really buy anything, they just film themselves in the store, hoping Target will bite), date nights, vacations, etc. Then factor in mortgage, utilities, homeowner's and auto insurance, cell phones and whatever they're doing for health insurance. If they're miraculously debt-free, then they're most definitely blowing nearly every dollar that comes in. 1 6 Link to comment

Their house purchase at the time/market they bought in seems like another impulsive decision that wasn't thought out. The market is starting to turn so if they would have just waited another year, they'd likely get a similar house for less. But buying when they did, means they won't be accruing any equity any time soon. And if their finances really tank and they need to sell, they might have to take a loss. Or face foreclosure if they can't make the payments now that Evan doesn't have steady full-time employment with benefits. 4 Link to comment
