I could tell watching this reunion that Candiace has already moved on. She was quiet most of the time unless she was addressed. She seems over these women and the HW experience. Sorry but not buying the Mia redemption edit at the end with Gordon. She was practically crowned Queen. I get it that Gordon was difficult to live with but Mia is no saint. Also not believing that she hasn’t been carrying on with the boyfriend for the entire marriage. I used to like watching Gizelle even though she’s shady. But after this season, I have found it harder to stomach her shenanigans. I’ve never gotten much out of Robyn. She is more of a blank slate to me or a yes-person for Gizelle. Not understanding why this show is so focused on Gizelle. I don’t see Wendy and Nneka reconciling. There is a lot of hostility between them. Yes and they apologize and then usually repeat the behavior later. So their apology would mean little to me.

Just finished season. The next CEO drama seemed manufactured to me and, as Mauricio said, premature as he is clearly not ready to retire. I laughed when the brash woman who wants to take over (can’t remember her name) said this isn’t a company that relies on nepotism. Uh… really? Did she look around and see the three women there who are all Mauricio’s daughters? She may not want nepotism to be a factor, but she needs to step into reality because clearly it is. I like Farrah but the other two I could do without. -
It isn’t a great picture of her. I saw some others that were better.

Agree. I remember being captivated by how beautiful the location was in the movie, the beautiful blue water and sky. It made me want to go to Italy. The black and white doesn’t give the sense of luxury and beauty to me. So far I’m not big on the casting of either of the leads but I’ll keep watching. Perhaps they’ll grow on me. I thought the same thing. I remember being mesmerized by Jude Law.

Agree. I only mentioned it because Ray commented that she looked a lot less than triple 20.

Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV
Sweet-tea replied to BetterButter's topic in Investigation Discovery
I believe this extra episode missed the mark. Soledad didn’t ask Drake about the girl he was texting. A lot of the other info. was already covered in the first four episodes. I can see why Dan Schneider may have supported teenaged Drake. Not necessarily because he was a good guy. Perhaps Dan was into underage girls not boys. ITA! No excuse for the mother in my mind. The father warned her. -
Why are the GEBs so intent on ruining Candiace and Chris' marriage? Why do they hate Candiace so much? I don't get it. Also, can anyone enlighten me on the colorism discussion on this episode? It sounded like a world salad to me. What were they trying to convey? Does Candiace really think Robyn and Gizelle are blameless or was she being PC? Shallow note. Whatever surgery Karen had did not make her look significantly younger to me. It could've been her hairstyle, but she looked about 60 to me. Good for 60 but still 60. It might have been that her makeup and/or the lighting was a little harsh?

Buying Beverly Hills - General Discussion

The big reveal about the separation and the People magazine story seemed fake to me. It seemed like the daughters already knew something was going on. I also think Maurice's words that there is nothing going on between Kyle and Morgan sounded hollow. The way he kept calling Kyle "honey" was weird given the obvious strain between them. What struck me were the comments from a few of the daughters that they don't talk about difficult subjects, that things are kept under the rug and the appearance is everyone is happy. This is a classic sign of growing up in a dysfunctional home. The mantra is "Don't talk, don't trust, don't feel." And the next part of that is you don't talk about the family business, not even within the family. I suspect Kyle grew up in this same environment during her childhood. Sadly, it is being repeated. Their big talk in which they were supposedly "open" sounded stilted to me. I hope this is because it was for the cameras and not that this is how awkward it is when the members of this family discuss sensitive subjects. When Kyle and Mauricio are talking, I can pick up on underlying tension and anger, especially from Kyle. It comes out in quips and asides, but there is an edge to it. Sometimes I get it from him, but it's mostly from her. I still think he cheated, Kyle caught him and this was the impetus for all her lifestyle changes: stopping drinking, losing weight, getting tattoos and hanging around Morgan Wade. Classic midlife crisis, female version. Not that far from a man getting a Corvette and a 25 year-old buxom blonde. -

There is something about Mo that makes me want to watch him. This isn't the case with his wife. The younger daughters aren't interesting to me, but I do like Farrah. If I'm not looking at my TV and just listening to the show, sometimes I think it's Kyle talking. I don't know if it's Farrah or Alexia who sounds more like her. The houses do look like glass boxes for the most part, and they're all styled the same way. I've noticed the same thing on Million Dollar Listing LA. -
Seriously! Robyn sounds like a fool. "He's really focused on deleting his texts" or whatever she said. Is she an idiot? Uh... Robyn. Have you heard of getting rid of the evidence? Sure, I'd have no problem with my husband paying for a hotel room for a random woman out of the kindness of his heart. Unbelievable that she's calling Chris a cheater when she is living with a serial womanizer who rubs her nose in it.

Agree and many people disagree with them and are flocking to Florida and Texas. I don't understand what is going on with Candiace and Chris. What was the deal with the woman that posted the message and then deleted it? Robyn was calling Chris out on it. Did he cheat or are Gizelle and Robyn just determined to destroy Candiace's marriage? Why do they hate her so much? Speaking of cheating, either Gizelle and her lover boy have an open relationship or he has cheated on her or moved on. And he's not exactly hiding it. Perhaps this is why Gizelle is coming for Candiace and Chris. She is projecting. Watching this I was beginning to understand why Candiace decided not to come back. She seems over all of them.

It is weird because I recognized Sam Neill right away. I don’t know why as I’m not really a fan or anything but I have seen him in a lot. This was so-so to me. What bothered me were all the red herrings. I don’t like shows that go to such lengths to keep people guessing that they float out obvious scenarios, like Joy and Stan had a tumultuous relationship, he was filled with rage and then killed her, and then say “Voila! Fooled you!” It gets tedious to me and has the reverse effect. It takes me out of the show because I’m thinking, “They’re making it look like he did it, so he must not have done it.” I’ve seen this tactic used repeatedly. IMO it is weak writing. Also weak writing: they get in a high speed car crash. Savannah acts like Joy is unconscious when she flees, but a little later we see Joy with nary a scratch. One scene I liked was Joy in the bar singing Joy to the World. Made me chuckle. I also didn’t really care about any of the characters, especially Stan and Joy. I didn’t believe their reconciliation at the end. I see these two divorcing in six months. And this is a nitpick but I wish they would cast actors who actually look like they could be siblings and that resemble the parents at least a little, because these didn’t. I’ve seen it done in some shows but it is rare. I think I’ve read a few Liane Moriarty books but the titles are escaping me. I don’t want to read Big Little Lies or Apples as I already know the ending. Can anyone recommend other ones that are good? I’d like to read them before the next series!

Yeah even when he and Katie were together it was a running theme that they didn't have sex very often. Unusual for people who are younger. I wasn't sure if it was about them as a couple or Tom's love sex drive, but then there would be these incidents of him having drunken makeouts with other women.

I’m only on episode 3 and I’m surprised how much Mauricio is talking about the Hiltons. I thought the subject was off limits as it causes strain between Kyle and Kathy. I saw Paris’ post. I wonder if the rest of them are ticked off. I don’t think Sophia adds much value to the agency or this show, at least not what I’ve seen so far. Maybe she’ll grow on me. I still sense underlying sadness in Farrah. I like her. If the guy is this slow to get moving on wedding plans she’s better off without him. -
Yes I watched from Season 1 on. I also watched Selling the OC.

Agree. She was awful. I wouldn't want to be around someone so filled with rage. It isn't healthy for the person or the ones around her. I don't know where this show has to go. I'm finding it hard to root for any of the people. Actually, I'm finding it hard to tolerate any of them.
-
Agree that the main characters seem to be much younger than the actors. And Laura Dern either has had a facelift or there was a thick filter on the camera, because her face looked a lot different than the last time I saw her on TV. I don't think they have captured the tone of this show. It is playing more as comedy than drama IMO, but it's not very funny. I wanted to watch for the cast and the 1960s setting, but I don't know if I'll last long. I'll give it a few more episodes.

I thought Joey had more physical chemistry with Kelsey but figured he would pick Daisy. I was pleasantly surprised he chose Kelsey. I never really warmed to Daisy.
-
I read an article a few years ago about someone who was there. She said this was the case. It's all fake. I like that Daisy walked herself out and didn't start sobbing and acting devastated when Joey confirmed he wasn't picking her. Refreshing change. Rainsong, I'm kind of glad to hear RS was wrong. The guy can be arrogant!

I didn't notice this but now I want to go back and check. Ha!

I don't understand why they talk like they are empty nesters when Portia is still in high school. I wonder if Portia feels ignored? -

I think that is Christine, right? I've watched all the seasons and am waiting for the next one. Yes, I need to get a life. -
I wouldn't mind them all returning except Larsa. I can take or leave Marysol though so she'd be my next pick to go. I'm surprised to say I have no HW shows to watch now, which is rare. There is usually at least one running. Maybe a break will be good for me though. It's like a cleanse for my mind.

I watched the first episode of S1. I like that there is a faith-based show on Amazon (or any streaming platform for that matter) and appreciated seeing characters who believe in God and pray regularly. I remember Roma Downey from Touched by an Angel. Having said that, I found the show heavy-handed and the acting a little stilted, especially the actor who plays Kari. I'm hoping it gets better and the show finds its footing. I will keep watching. I find it so refreshing not to have to cringe at the f-word being thrown out all the time and other coarse language. I'm just tired of it. I didn't recognize Ted McGinley at first. The really dark hair threw me off. I remember him from way back.

Agree. I don't like her. I was never really a fan but this season she totally lost me. I thought her behavior to Sutton has horrible, and she came off like a manipulative narcissist playing the victim card.
