At least you don't have to listen to John Sterling. He's really not that good an announcer, especially in a medium where one can get away with "IT IS HIGH! IT IS FAR!!!" all the damn time. I'll have to remember to watch ESPN tonight. Cubs raise their banner! And they hand out the hardware on Wednesday. From what I heard, each ring has 108 diamonds.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
My DVR was giving me trouble, but I found the recording. I'm really going to miss this show. I mean, Titans are awesome and all, but this anime kept setting the bar higher in terms of insanity. [ten minutes of intense backstory later] Smokey: Wow. I am glad you brought me here, even though it was just to tell me the heartbreaking story of Elizabeth. Also, I'm in another country. So cool! Speedwagon: Indeed. And I probably fulfilled my purpose for this property, because I really didn't contribute much to 'Phantom Blood.' I still don't know what happened to the hat I tried to murder Jonathan Joestar with. Smokey: I still think we should tell Jojo about his mother. I mean, I get keeping silent . . . but what if he tries to wake her up with a deep kiss? Speedwagon: If there's tongue, I will consider spilling the beans. Von Stroheim: Okay, enough sentimental stuff! Let's kill a Pillar Man!!! Smokey: And that poses another question. Shouldn't Jojo be the guy who does this? He's already taken out Esidisi and Wamuu. Speedwagon: I made a deal with him and his men. They kill Kars, they get to live in America, no questions asked. Von Nutbag gives the Reich another ten years, tops. He also likes President Roosevelt, who is sort of a machine man himself. Von Stroheim: READY! UND AIM!!!!! [Kars flips his body to reveal he is wearing a mask with the Red Stone of Asia] Jojo: (smacking his head as he carries Lisa Lisa) FUCK!!! I knew I forgot something!! Von Stroheim: SHIT! HOLD FIRE!!! Random Troop: Yeah, we can't shut it down. We probably could have checked the body during the flashback. [Ultraviolet light bursts, filling Kars will untapped energy] Von Stroheim: Mein gott! We are in der strudel now! DER SHIT STRUDEL!!! Jojo: Oh, look. A German made things so much worse. Shocker! -
I was poking around the schedule and found something interesting. CBS will be running two episodes back-to-back on April 20, starting at 9 p.m.

I did not think of a Sandra situation. "Um . . . hi." "Hey. 'John,' right?" "John Cochran." "Nice." "Okay . . . so you look comfy on the boat, and there clearly isn't anything I can teach you, so I'm getting my pasty white ass back on the boat and sailing off." "Cool."

Caught up. Of course the cliffhanger would be David getting trapped in a Pokeball. At this point, why not? "AWRIGHT!!! I CAUGHT A DAVID HALLER!!!" "Pika Pikachu!!" "No you haven't, you little bastard! LET ME OUT!!!" Good series, to the point where an X-Men ongoing might not be for the best, because Legion has set the bar too high. I know that DC Comics has six series on varying platforms (Arrow: gritty action; Legends of Tomorrow: fun stuff; Gotham: the show where no fucks are given), and Marvel can do that as well with their mutant-based properties, but Legion made you think a little too hard. I liked the solider stack. Non-lethal, and the soliders looked really inconvenienced.

"Well, we'll have Kevin Conroy hanging around the studio between DVD movies. Why not utilize him fully?" I was good with "Hat Trick." Got a laugh at Zatanna's "BPS."

Funny115: Steve Wright catches Probst off-guard. Notable: "If Rob doesn't win the first time, we'll give him four tries." ETA: Didn't realize I posted the essay on Tata the bushman in the Media thread. My mistake.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Wait, JYB isn't in the current season, is he? He's Jonathan, not Joseph. And I'm hoping the numbers are high enough to bring Jojo back, because it might be a long, long time before Toonami brings back One Piece. -
In case Toonami shortens the credits, here they are in full: Caught the second episode. Nonstop gore seems about right. I think that was common in the manga, though Riza haunting Kaneki might be new for the anime. Also: did it look like she was rubbing his crotch while holding him, or am I imagining that? I don't remember the four-eyed ghoul trying to stomp Hide ("He-DAY") into paste and pummeling Kaneki senseless in the manga, either. In passing, we learned a new word: "Kagune." I won't link for spoilers' sake; just know that's what pops out of a ghoul. Because having enhanced everything isn't a big enough advantage for these creatures to dine on humans. Touka will have a lot of story to unravel. The old guy is key as well. Kaneki will get another new look aside from the eyepatch, though it does vary from "awesome" to "Dear Lord, you go out looking like that?!?" And I like the shorts after the credits. In the manga, ghouls do not skimp on how disgusting "human food" can be. ETA: Half-watched the episode. They introduced the hunters (the titular "doves"), though it might be a while before we get the science on their weapons. Keneki tries to get adjusted to his new job. If you do not want to be spoiled on what kind of mask he ends up wearing, do not look it up. Have strength. Oh, and he offends a little ghoul girl . . . though he does rebound from that.

Well, JT is a "good ole boy" and can't be seen doing any wrong that can't be swept under the rug. Much easier to make Sandra the villain there. And she helped boot him off before the merge, so she's extra-extra-evil.

Caught what I missed. Forgot that Team Fun got the Express Pass. I liked how the teams are together for intros, and most of them look to be into it. And the coin flip thing is kinda dumb. I mean, I "get" the logic, but you gotta look out for yourself. And didn't Venck & Aston wind up finishing ahead of the guys? Apologies if I wasn't being hard enough on Shamir. I was thinking something like that would happen to me. I'd probably make a staggering beeline toward the medics to be safe, and I'd hate to be seen as a punk, especially by my peers. Dunno if I'd crack a window, though. Ever see the episode of The Venture Bros. where Dean's nuts get twisted up? That would be running through my head. ETA for Jessica Liese and her recap . . . if this is the show's final season, I know Phil will be okay. He's smart and resourceful, and could probably get a new gig if he wanted that. He wouldn't invade Survivor and knock out Probst with one punch, but I can dream.

I didn't see it here, so I might as well link it: Familiar face coming in Season/Series 10. Could be a headache, could lead to something awesome. It's a casting thing, but I don't know if it would be considered a spoiler. Movellans? The robots with the braids from "Destiny Of The Daleks"?!? Holy crap.

Mobile Suit Gundam - General Discussion

Still not caring. And the end credits are switched up, so we're halfway through. Super. Nice to know that in the far-flung future, a kick to the nuts can open up the possibility to an ass-whumpin' -
That isn't a standard at ballparks? The Mets used to play that all the time at Shea.
-
I saw commercials for tomorrow night at 11. As Jack would put it, "Seems straightforward."
-
I think the minor league season has kicked off. Locally, the Staten Island Yankees won't start until mid-June. Right now, there are no promotions listed yet. Ditto for the Brooklyn Cyclones, even though I haven't been to Coney Island in forever.
-
Duly noted. I figured Shamir built up a little goodwill with the eyebrow pop last week. He did not. Might've been nice if he had to arm-wrestle of the Swole Sisters to stay in the game.

In funnier news: here's a recut of Debbie/Cochran that clocks in under a minute. The editor? Randy Bailey, whom I think of as the Grumpy Smurf of the franchise. He hates everybody. ETA: From Funny115: Tata the bushman in Caramoan. ETA2: Crap, I meant to post the ETA in the Past Seasons thread. Taking it there now.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Potential bad news. I found out how many episodes are left in "Battle Tendency." The week after that's scheduled to wrap up, Toonami will start airing the second season of Attack on Titan. In other words, we probably won't be getting "Stardust Crusaders." I haven't checked the episode count on the Gundam series, but I'm thinking that another would replace it. -
Checked Wikipedia. There are only three more episodes of the "Battle Tendency" season from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. And Attack on Titan starts up again the following week. Looks like we won't be getting "Stardust Crusaders." Dang. I mean, yay Titans and thoroughly depressed people, but I want more Japanese-tinged melodrama with lots of muscles and no ceiling. And "Roundabout." ETA: Checked Wikipedia. The only anime that is scheduled to air that hasn't done so already is Tokyo Ghoul √A. How do you pronounce the square root symbol? Still hoping for Assassination Classroom down the line. Hey, they did bring in One-Punch Man, right?

S01.E07: Van v Emily: Dawn of Justice
Lantern7 replied to The Crazed Spruce's topic in Powerless [V]
Shoot, that reminds me . . . who were the villains on the target? I recognized Deathstroke and Calculator (the updated version). I think the one on top was from Jeff Lemire's run on Green Arrow. -
In Shamir's defense, I might have done the same thing, minus the window punching. "Phil, I know you. You're a worldly guy. You've probably been in a harness hundreds of times. And I know that this show wouldn't skimp on protecting the contestants. This isn't Big Brother. But I felt pain in a very bad place, and I thought that they were gonna pop out and explode on the ground below. I know that when you feel pain, you fear the worst. And these were my nuts. My nuts, Phil. My nuts." On the other hand, Shamir should've gotten the windows clean faster. When did he hurt himself? If it wasn't on the first attempt, then the nut strain is on him.
-
Wow,indeed. In semi-related news, Tim Tebow hit his first homer in Columbia. He's gotta climb three more rungs before Citi Field. Of course, I'm hoping the Mets stay intact from Flushing to St. Lucie. Seriously, the 2016 team could've taken the field to "Suicide Is Painless." Had a bad moment yesterday . . . I've been recording It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and Comedy Central aired "The World Series Defense," where Mac writes a kindasorta love letter to Chase Utley. When I realized who that was, I got a little mad. Leg-breaking motherfucker . . .

S01.E07: Van v Emily: Dawn of Justice
Lantern7 replied to The Crazed Spruce's topic in Powerless [V]
Green Fury? Not Green Flame? Okay, then. I'm not upset GF didn't have a Brazilian accent, though I probably wouldn't know what that would sound like off the bat. Would've been funny if Geo Force had responded to Teddy's signal. Meh on the Van plot. I am interested to see how this show would interpret Dr. Psycho. Diminutive sociopath with psychic powers and a mad-on for Wonder Woman, yet would probably never star in her movies? Sounds like a lot of potential for this show. -
And now Shamir is off the cool list. All I can think of is Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle Of The Seasons, when crazy-ass Stephen had similar discomfort. "Oh, fuck, my nuttttts!!!" I don't want to be alone. And damn, he punched the shit out of the window. "I'm scare shitless spitless of heights, and I was going in hoping my partner would cover for me. But since she may have broken her arm in three places (pending examination), I'll have to rappel and wash. I can do this. But I keep wondering what would happen if I throw up and the rope snaps. Would I beat the puke to the ground? Would that be my last memory?" Plus side: Michael, Venck, and their respective partners rebound to go one-two. Michael and Liz (thanks, Wikipedia!) get a trip to Barbados. Even with S26 having happened, it still feels weird for strangers to get a trip together, even if our assumptions are correct and they could invite their friends. Congratulations to Redmond for finishing the second leg. He's now better than Amy Purdy. Four more legs, he can beat Sarah Reinertsen. I'm talking leg amputees . . . Bethany lost an arm. I'll have to rewatch and take notes. Not feeling the cast, but not really hating anybody that much. I feel that we could've been better off had Long Hair and Swole Sisters survived the first two legs. Minimum, they'd be on speaking terms with each other. ETA: I like Becca & Floyd. That said, if Team Fun is found dead in a hotel room, with both of them having killed the other, I wouldn't be that surprised. I'm okay with upbeat attitudes, but they need to pace themselves.
