Funny115: Angie wants cookies. Well, not really. Once again . . . I get why people would be critical of Mario, but he brings up stuff I don't remember. Either he's good at archiving tidbits, or he has unlocked untapped portions of his brain just for Survivor trivia.

One concern: there are only six episodes, seven if you count the pilot. I don't know if that's enough for a forum, especially from a quarter-hour show.

Anybody here in the NYC area? On Monday, a crapload of Challengers will be doing meet-and-greets in the city, as well as presiding over exercise classes. The fun ends with a a screening of the first episode of Dirty XXX. I think that all the "tickets" have been sold out. BUT! The meet/greets do not require RSVPs. I was planning on going to the screening, but now I'm thinking of stopping by earlier and get a whiff of the atmosphere. I apologize for the short notice, though I did mention it in the Media thread. If any of you are interested, and want to swap notes with me, I would be more than happy to meet you.

Checking in to see if anybody watched the show last week, and whether any of you think it's a forum-worthy show. Hey, you can pretend Rusty Venture is Dr. Benign! That's something, right? "WHAT'D YOU DO?!?!?!"

Cut to Terry Collins. "Yes, Davey, I know that having a rotund guy pinch-hitting might be a good idea, but I don't think it would work out now, even if the guy doesn't dent the postgame buffer like Bart." ETA: Woke up and tuned in to the Mets beating the tar out of the Rockies. I missed Seth Lugo's first homer, and the Mets' winning streak with a homer-hitting pitcher is still alive. On the down side, Cespedes got hurt. Again. Seriously, bring everybody holy to Citi Field. Priests, rabbis, clerics, medicine men . . . everybody.

Here's what I'm thinking . . . BBC airs Wimbledon for the UK, yes? I'm thinking they would air the men's final, do postgame stuff and awards, and then reveal the next Doctor. When that happens, BBC America would cut into their programming to broadcast it to us Yanks. My plan: DVR the two afternoon movies while I'm out. If you're home, flip between ESPN (since when?!?) and BBCA, and hope for the best.

"Thirteenth actor to portray the Doctor without being inserted retroactively" works for me. Why did Eccleston not want to take part in the big special? I mean, John Hurt made a kickass (War) Doctor, but it messes up the numbering. Thirteenth Doctor = cat brooch like Six, only black instead of white?

In case you didn't hear, five episodes will be airing next week on Cartoon Network. Also, you can see any or all five today if you have the CN app.

@TwirlyGirly1: I was thinking that this would be similar to what happened in 2013 . . . we'd get a holding pattern message starting at a set time before the annoucement. I'll be checking BBCA's site for updates.
-
@catrox14: That's 9 a.m. Eastern time. I was planning on going to a library-based comic show in New Jersey on Sunday, and that's at least 45 minutes each way. I was thinking that BBCA would clear space for the announcement. I'll have to clear DVR space just to be safe.

I was going to post this. I plan on being out, and now I have a reason to pay attention to tennis. When does the men's final usually start? They go up to five sets, so that's at least 2-3 hours, right? And any word about BBC America showing the announcement? I was "there" when Capaldi was introduced. Because I had no clue on British actors, my first reaction was that he looked like David Copperfield. It might have been the lights.

He popped up in the following season, which took place in Guatemala.

Basically, it's the Sewer Urchin episode of The Tick, except we have Batman not recalling Booster's unique skillset in the end, rather than Tick try to rip Die Fledermaus a new hole. Would've been funny if a Rip Hunter was actually running Vanishing Point.

Heh . . . the Troupe leader thought Kurapika was a girl because of the wig.

TDS 3.0: Season Two Talk
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
I guess Trevor never watched the first Austin Powers movie. You have to ask the bad guy the same question three times before he gives an honest answer. Nice bit with Desi and the translators, though maybe their lives would be easier if their bosses put in subtitles. -
I'm okay with Aunt May getting "play," but I'm so used to her as "old crone." In the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, she was a go-getter, but I think she was still grey. I'm okay with Marisa Tormei's performance ("WHAT THE F-!!"), but it kinda runs counter to "classic" canon.

MTV.com has put up an archive page, where you can watch thirteen past seasons (twelve discounting Champs vs. Pros).

Shit, Zuri's gonna be in there? Once again, I expected somebody much, much larger. And now I'm hating myself for failing to find the first Black Panther volume from Priest. I wanted to get it autographed by inker Bob Almond at a comic show this past weekend. Right now, I'm trying to find Zuri quotes and failing. This will have to do. I think the art is from painter Joe Jusko. Fingers crossed for a follow-up movie with Queen Divine Justice.

South Park vies for its first Emmy since 2013 with "Member Berries."

Don't know where else to post . .. there's going to be "The Ultimate Fan Experience" with Challengers in New York City on Monday. Bascially, if you ever wanted to work out with those folks, now is your chance. I registered for the screening . . . I'm assuming it's for the Dirty 30 premiere. It's not like I have to get a headstart, but I'd like to experience it, possibly with Challengers close by. One note: I'm an avoider, in the sense that I never started shit with people I didn't like at TARCon, so I would put as much distance between myself and Johnny.

Found this trailer for the Fullmetal Alchemist movie. Now with homunculi! I'm still curious if we'd get Armstrong.

Emmy nominations were announced. Nothing new to report . . . TAR got nominated, Phil did not. Really, if they changed the title of "Best Host" to openly admit to filling the gaps with game shows, I would be a little better with it. I'm okay with Alec Baldwin getting considered for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his SNL work despite not being an official cast member . . . but for hosting Match Game? No. Also nominated: Martha Stewart & Snoop Dogg. Of course, it was a joint nomination. ETA: Fully expecting The Voice to win. Seriously, is it that good? All I know is that it's American Idol with key differences, and the male judges are in a bromance.

Nice that Naruto and Geezer Toad came up with a work-around for the Nine-Tails problem. Sadly, Pain is proving to be a real pain. I thought Mt. Ninjmore Hokage Rock was destroyed by one of the Pains.

Eren's dad is behind the Undercover Titans. I mean, I get that Ymir might be a lot older than she looks (if not outright immortal), but Dr. Jaegar seems like the likely culprit. It seems so obvious, right? I love Eren. He wants to murder Reiner, and he didn't give a shit about not having hands to make fists. Fuck it, elbows are just as good, right? I bet Ymir doesn't swallow. Historia, I mean.

DC to publish Earth One: Green Lantern in 2018. Aside from Gran Morrison's treatment of Wonder Woman, I haven't been overwhelmed by any of the "Earth One" books. Is that just me?
