Anybody up for S38??? I know, way too soon, but there’s precisely one thing in there that makes me happy. Assuming I’m still watching, of course.
-
Yeah, but wouldn’t reality show assholes be easier to sneak onto TV? If this means Racers racing, I’m all for it.

Eight strikeouts in a single day? If you’re an average player, that’s called “Execution in the Shower.”

My Hero Academia - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My Hero Academia
Well, at least Midoriya is advancing, though he broke three limbs for one a single punch. And that’s after ten months of working out. Is it weird if I say All Might’s regimen made the kid look buff? I figure he’d be more confident. Then I remember he doesn’t have powers, anybody who does immediately outranks him (including Naval Laser and the guy in the first episode tugging his eyes out of their sockets), and he wound him eating hair that he hoped would give him powers. You think anyone in the 20 percent fights crime? Maybe against the law? If this is an anime inspired by American superheroes, there has to be a Batman somewhere. -
Well, that was . . . an episode. Basically, Reign is dealt with, Kara goes home, and we get a heavy-handed subplot about guns . . . because Arrow was too subtle in their "gun issue" episode last year. What, the producers couldn't bring in Rene/Wild Dog for his take? Then again, Kara wasn't there, so he wouldn't have repeatedly called her "Blondie." At least the Legion flight ring came in handy. Pity that the Worldender prophet swiped the ship. Oyyyyy. Not feeling positive heading into the home stretch. "At least it's now Arrow" only works as an excuse for so long.

I thought four strikeouts meant Golden Sombrero. In other news, Subway Series Part One is this weekend. That is not gonna be pretty. Is Staton playing? He'll probably make up for lost time by homering three times per game.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
“It’s awesome being the world’s wealthiest beggar! I’ll just take this and go back to Mr. Joestar and his weird friends! Say, that’s an unusual-looking falcon above me. And a gigantic icicl-OOOOOOOOOOHHHHH, FUUUU-“ Like I said, anybody the Crusaders meet is either an agent of DIO, or about to be killed by one. This week: surly, dog-murdering falcon. Well, at least Iggy is earning his keep. He might as well have been at the hospital all this time, keeping Kakyoin company. -
The guys from Penny Arcade take on Solo. In terms of the robot rebellion thing, all I expected was the Voiceover Guy from Honest Trailer to shout “Droid lives matter, you guys!” again.

I was getting to it, @lathspel. ? Basically, this feels “same, ‘cept different,” in the sense that Hitomi is detached like Naota was, but it’s not a total gender-flip of the original . She get a “fairy godmother” (for lack of a better term) who mows her down with her car. But it’s implied that Haruko is doing the same thing with a boy, and she’ll be in conflict with the other woman soon. I’ll say this about the boy . . . I think his friends suck harder than Naota’s, and that’s saying something. Fat dude in skirt beats “Pervert! He’s a pervert! PEEEEERRRRRRVVVVEERT!!!” ETA: Haruko was in disguise as a schoolteacher , occasionally showing porn to Hitomi’s class. Just wanted to throw that in.

Quick question: if I have gotten to know a woman via email and messaging apps, but we haven’t talked or met, is it acceptable to keep looking online? I’ve gotten a few “likes” lately, but I feel good about the lady. Of course, it could go to shit, so maybe I need options. @aradia22 . . . maybe we could meet on a practice date. I could show you not to settle on the tools that keep contacting you. Or something. ?♂️ ETA: Would "warmup date" be a more appropriate term?

No one else watched last week? First Dragon Ball Z skit since Christmas ‘05, Bitch Pudding crossed with The Sound Of Music (hey, not like she gets served up like Nerd), and decent sketches based off Watchmen and X-Men: Apocalypse. ETA: Totally forgot about “North Pole High.” This week: First Richie Rich sketch since the Cribs spoof, we get another Terminator bit (who does the voice?), and the horror that is Sailor Earth. Oh, and Ash Ketchum beats a Blastoise using Glinda the Good Witch. And Pikachu dies.

Well, I could've had more fun. I think the peak was Caroline's, where we had Derrick and his podcast partner shoot the shit with Mark, Emily and Darrell. Lots of old-school reminiscing made me smile. The party tonight? Oy. Between my anxieties and the massive throng, I was not in my element. Once again, didn't talk to Challengers. It's more about my weird hang-ups in general than being "starstruck." You could have made it a more formal shindig with breathing room and folks I can like for extended periods (Nicole, CT, Leroy, Jenna), and I would probably wuss out of meeting any of them. Last year, I saw Sarah Greyson at the Fringe Festival, and it took me about an hour to say hi. And I had met her already, albeit in 2003. If I had been any more squirrelly near her, I would've grown a bushy tail. In two weeks, I going to a comic con in Brooklyn. Jamie Chung will be there. I'll wait in line, pay a little too much for an autograph and picture, but that's less weird for me than tonight. Fuck it, I might go full nerd, get a sketch of her character of The Gifted to sign, then bring up my Inferno II recaps. Anyway, here are my pictures. And here's the one person I managed to talk with tonight. Baby steps, right?

Found this on Facebook . . . five ways Thanos could have been defeated. I don't get #4.

I had a rough day. This . . . makes me feel a little better. The prospect of housemates doing a legit show still turns my stomach, but maybe — maybe — CBS will bring in previous Racers, because trading one fanbase for another would be too risky.
-
Once again, I’m thinking I won’t watch TAR if they have ex-castaways, because I wouldn’t care that much about any of them. The last few years of Survivor have been a blur for me.
-
Heaven help me, I’m at Caroline’s in NYC for the ChallengeMania podcast. And later, I’m going to the event I posted about months ago. Will I have fun? Could go either way . . .
-
I can’t see the movie as a fail. Granted, I also take Hulk over Incredible Hulk. I just can’t spell the title “F-A-I-L.” I mean, the prequel trilogy alone . . .
-
@Lady Calypso . . . so TAR31 may wind up heavy with Big Brother contestants that were not first choices. I think it would be easier for CBS to track down all TAR fans, and send people to kick them in the genitals. That would be less painful than what we’re facing now.
-
Backlash from online fan reaction? If that’s the case and we get actual Racers, I’ll take back most of the meant shit I’ve said about CBS. Or they’ll just say, “Fuck it, let’s call Dr. Will and ‘Mike Boogie’.”
-
From the first teasers of Progressive, I like Haruko's look. It's like she looks more adult, yet I can't really say why that is with words. I got a sketch of Haruko years ago. I'm thinking that I should print references for Conti and Naota. And maybe the eyebrow guy.

My Hero Academia - General Discussion

Well, the next episode looks promising. Also, another slightly inappropriate line of inspiration from All Might. -
Nowhere else to put this: on this day in 1998, Road Rules: All-Stars premiered on MTV. Seems longer, right? Also, how would we celebrate? Maybe send a cake to Sean and Rachel? Hey, we know where he works.

Season Three and Beyond: FFwSB
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Full Frontal With Samantha Bee
@purist . . . the show is good. Granted, the bar isn’t set that high for Jeffries, but he does good. Also, he’s got less smarm than Daniel Tosh, so that’s a bonus. I gotta see if the show entertains requests. I think Sam would have “fun” with my district.
