"My name is Oliver Queen! This season is short and it'll be my last! So I have to go through the opening bit fast and loud!!!"
-
Just checked the page. CT and Big T have been added.

No new updates. Here's Cara Maria wishing the cast the best of luck in the upcoming season: I think you'd have to click the pic a few times for the full message. Once again, I think of Tyra Banks. "I was rooting for you! We were all rooting for you!"

Latest names before bed: Dee, Nelson, Jay from Survivor whom I cannot seem to remember. Given that athleticism is one small part of thriving on the show, I don’t think pros or Olympians would be coming in at an advantage. Theo is probably Olympics-level (or a few rungs below that), and he had to go to the Proving Ground twice.

Here are the five episodes titles:

Nothing really going on. Chatting with one woman, but I don't know if she's feeling it. I'm not getting excited, either.

I found this on Facebook. I've seen pandas get that pushy when it comes to food. One question: what the heck are these guys? Badgers? Beavers? Prairie Dogs? You might need to lower the volume if you're at work.

S01.E01: It's Summer and We're Running Out of Ice
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Watchmen [V]
It's the sequel to Watchmen few people asked for! But not a sequel of the movie version! And it's not related to Doomsday Clock! Maybe! Yes, I am watching with trepidation, because I never feel that expanding the "Watchmen Universe" is a good idea, and not just because of the thought of Alan Moore sending a serpent god to bite your ass*. It's just that the twelve issues that made up the original story were that fucking good. Who was asking for a follow-up decades later, a la Star Wars or Blade Runner? But this episode does start well, and with a lot of quirky concepts . . . like masked policemen, squid storms, and a bunch of white supremacists taking up Rorschach's name and cause. I think this Watchmen might be to that canon what Joker was made for . . . it wasn't putting Joaquin Phoenix into DC Comics, but rather DC Comics and Joker into the Joaquin universe. The parallel is there. Masked officers. And, apparently, most of them aren't supposed to know each other's identity. The guy in the panda mask (well, "panda head" is more like it) stretched things, but it's still good. And I'm guessing promotions involve personalized looks, like Sister Night. Adrian Veldt is still Adrian Veldt, which means he's way above it all, yet still prone to manipulation. The butler and the lady? Yeah, I'm not going to get used to them. Jeremy Irons is a good "get," and I bet he gets to do more here than he did in the DCEU as Alfred. Is there a thread for Easter Eggs and/or shoutouts? I'm wondering if Robert Redford is aware that he's been inserted as President going on three decades in this series. Short story: Nixon wound up being President past 1974, and I think Alan Moore subbed one famous actor "RR" for another (Ronald Regan). Nixon on Mount Rushmore? All sorts of Not Right. Nowhere near as bad as the attack on "Black Wall Street" in Tulsa actually happening. Attacks on people from planes? Shit, man. Shit . . . *ETA: I think Moore is way the fuck past the point of caring at this point. -
From my original post in the Anticipation thread: My advice: I think it’s still applicable. Watching the first episode, I’m pleased to say there might be more than shallow storytelling and shoutouts to those familiar with the original series. Honestly, Watchmen might be the best comic story ever made. At minimum, it’s on the short list. I can’t imagine what it was like when it originally came out over twelve issues, at a time where communication between fans was nowhere near as easy as the early days of widespread Internet usage one decade later.

In terms of coming onto a reality show with what you think is a profitable gimmick . . . Mike/Miz was the exception and not the rule? Who is Kaycee? That’s another name from Big Brother. Melissa from the UK has also been added.
-
1. I think Bunim-Murray titles the episodes, not MTV. 2. I honestly didn't think her name wedged into that title spoiled anything.

@xfuse . . . some guy named "Fessy" just popped up. Does he make you nauseous as well? I know "Swaggy C" is based off the nickname of an NBA player, but it's still obnoxious as hell.

After last week’s episode of War of the Worlds 2, we got a midseason trailer. What better time to find out that the 35th will be filming soon, if it hasn’t started filming already? As usual, I’m getting updates from StopBeingPolite.com, which relies on info from Vevmo for information. Basically, you check that page every now and then to see who will be making the trip. NO RESULTS SPOILERS. PLEASE. Looking at the SPS Twitter, I think the implication is Cara Maria might not be showing up. That would be shocking if true, since she’s become a staple for the series. Sadly, a lot of the bigger headaches will be making the trip to Prague. Making returns: Aneesa, Jenna, and Mattie. Also, some lady named Bayleigh. She’s from Big Brother, so you just know she’ll be a headache. No word about the demigod from Turkey, but Jordan is on the list, as is Tori. Oh, and Wes is coming back. Maybe BMP managed to secure his involvement over three straight seasons? ETA: Just noticed this line: "Stephen Bear Shipwrecked UK, Celebrity Big Brother UK, Registered Sex Offender, Ex on the Beach UK" I laughed out loud because that is so true. ETA2: Chris "Swaggy C" Williams is now on the list. I'm hoping he gets hurt for that nickname alone. Cory has been pried off the Teen Mom teat so he can compete. And Kailah is also there for anyone who like her.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion

“A powerful Stand user has arrived in Naples. His father and I go way back. His name was Dio Brando.” -
Anyone else watching? Also, for anyone going to Anime NYC in a few weeks, the creators of Dr. Stone will be appearing that weekend for panels and signings. I’d be good with a scrawled Senku looking all brainy in the face of a new Stone Age.

Good episode. Things are moving around, even with CatCo continuing to go click-bait-y, the horrible people behind that, and Brainy flummoxed by what Nia wants. He means so well, you know? And any social interactions he built his life around (minuscule as they may have been) are negated because it happened on another planet AND one thousand years in the future. Maybe he needs a dating app. Maybe he needs TO date an app. And yes, nice workaround in making the Martians in J'onn vision appear as human. We wind up with Carl Lumbly yelling in pain again . . . but he's been very good at it.

Hey, it's Tommy Elliot! And hey, he's a Bruce Wayne wannabe in the comics AND on this show! Also, this one quotes Aristotle as well. Alice still continues to be fun in all the wrong ways. We finally get Kate as Batwoman, and she manages to get Rach Vesper all hot and bothered. Of course Bruce Wayne would have something to neutralize his own suit. And Kate manages to clean up well at a fancy shindig.

How hot is in in Houston? Chapman’s face looks damp as hell. ETA: WALK-OFF HOME RUN. Like the Astros let the Yankees tie the game just to give them hope for a Game 7.

Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to AnimeMania's topic in Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal
Didn’t know there was a thread. What can be said that hasn’t been said? It’s Genndy, there’s a high degree of difficulty, but he clears it with Spear and Fang. -
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Sandman87's topic in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
Heads up: Boruto will be removed from the Toonami schedule after tonight’s episode. I’m not sure why. Maybe they couldn’t wait to start airing Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. I’m sure it’ll return in the near future. -
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Golden Wind arrives in one week. For now, here’s “Stardust Crusaders” abridged: ETA: I went to New York Comic Con a few weeks ago. I think this is something you can win from Viz aside from the Polanreff earrings . . . AN IGGY HOODIE. -
Meh. I am amused that the Yankees can’t win a LCS against the Astros, but the Mets took care of that ages ago.

You know the sad thing about these people? They genuinely mean well. Frank wants to help out the Waiter for saving his life, so he just shoehorns his way into his life. Mac wants to help out Dennis to demonstrate worth (maybe "Mac Finds His Pride" was a fever dream?), and that ends with him contemplating killing Dennis in order to save his life. Hilarity ensues, with Dee's living on the edge fueling the funny fire. I'd like more Formal Diner stuff without the Waiter. It's not about him . . . I like how the Gang tries to look human . . . Mac combs his hair, Frank dons the toupee, and Charlie makes an effort to dress nicely, even if it's only from the waist up. I like the guys being slightly disgusted anytime Dee pops up. The funny thing? "Dee Day" doesn't need to be in continuity to make those reactions happen. It works either way.
