  1. I guess my unpopular opinion is that of all of them Simon comes off as most realistic to me. He is by far the most capable actor of all the "kids," his characters has some dimension (even if he is annoying), and I think he is the only person that is portrayed as having a somewhat realistic reaction to all of this. I actually like him. I did read the books- I have no special feeling around them so I am pretty unbiased. Essentially, the Shadowhunters are douche-canoes. They have no special love for mundanes or down-worlders, but want to run the world. They don't want to share anything, but expect to be obeyed. No wonder it was so easy to fracture them. The Clave is awful. Also- are Alec, Isabelle, and the Jace the only people capable of doing anything in the Institute? When there was an alarm breach literally no one else reacted. Same thing when the other Forsaken broke in. They are super ineffective. I understand why people like Alec- I get why he does not like Clary and the whole emotionally stunted thing. Here is the thing( though lets ignore the weakness of the actress for the moment)- Clary has know about all of this for a few weeks now- she mother is missing, her father is an evil sociopath, her other father figure is a werewolf, she has shadowhunter powers, people are dying around her, and now her best friend is a vampire. She is handling pretty well all things considered. So maybe take pill Alec. Get your shit together and marry Lydia for power and have Magnus on the side- but lighten up. I am so much more interested in the Downworlders than the Shadowhunters. I wish this show was about Magnus and his exploits. That would be awesome.
  2. Far too little Magnus, He is the most charismatic actor on this show by far. Although I have high hopes for Luke being able to come back from the blandness they have written for him...he is the Old Spice guy for pete sake! I am curious as to why the wolves were so passive when their new alpha was dying- they kind of just let the hunters take him away, It might not be popular but Simon and Izzy are really the only "main" characters I have connected with. The other 3 are just so meh to me. Alec is still dickish to me- sorry your crush likes someone else. Jace is not nearly charming enough to be the GOAT they are painting him to be, and Clary is just kind of there. I think she might be to breathy or something. She does have moments when I really like her- but no such luck on the other 2 for me yet. If all of the other hunters are like Mrs. Lightwood- no wonder the other down-worlders think Shadowhunters suck. Diplomacy matters!
  3. I finally got to sit down and watch these episodes and now I am simultaneously joyful and sad! The Jester absolutely murdered that recap song (which I have listened to like 5 or 6 times now). I do wish he would have been the one to end it and I would have liked another cameo from Jean Hamm but aside from those two little things I loved these last two episodes. This is just such a perfect little gem of a show. I super believe in you Tad Cooper (also season 3)! I also want that shirt!
  4. It was an improvement but really all the episode proved to me was how much I liked the vampires. And how much I missed Magnus Bane. Alec just seems bitchy, Izzy is simple, and Jace is not anywhere near as charming as he should be for being a supposed "chosen one." For all of that I am actually enjoying the show. It fills a bit of the hole that Once has left till March.
  5. That opening was ridiculously enjoyable. Awww, I'll miss James. I like looking at Zach Levi in a suit. Not crazy about how they made him kind of a crazy person...or that he apparently died. It is a pretty fluffy show- that was a strange turn for it. Javi and the piano man thing was hysterical. I love that he scoring things on the fly.
  6. Wow. Jack is an A-hole. I enjoyed it immensely when Dottie put him on his ass. I know the fall of the SSR is what leads to SHIELD-but I really could care less about his part in that story. Jury is out on Souza's lady friend (although I would like for her to be just a regular person) as well as the good Doctor but gems like the "You gonna punch all of LA?" might put me in his corner (when Peg eventually rescues him from the black shifty stuff). "He's the devil in pink." I've missed Jarvis. He was just amazing this entire episode. I like Mrs. Jarvis very much. Peg needs a lady friend who is awesome as her. Also- Yay for Rose!!! I am going to love the wardrobe this season. Poor Peg- she has the worst luck with men. Also- Ray Wise!!!!
  7. This is exactly how I feel. Mike Chang is a super big draw for me and I have no really great affection for the novels. I mean- I liked them better than Twilight but I have not finished the series to date. Pretty people doing super-naturalish things works for me. Also, Mike Change & Isaiah Mustafa!
  8. I died at the part. I also appreciated the old lady on the other show. The rivalries were fantastic-I hope this means we will get a peak at all sorts of other shows. Gael and Julio and their forbidden romance was perfect. I never watched Desperate Housewives but I love Eva Longoria. Her comedic timing is fantastic. I binged the first several episodes the other day and did not expect to enjoy it as much as I am, but the cast has really gelled for me.
  9. I also read the series years ago- it is one of the first fantasy series I really got into and I enjoyed it immensely. I just finished the episodes and I really liked it. I am far more into the S&S Epic fantasy than the political fantasy that is GoT (never liked that series- tried it multiple times, his writing just is not my cuppa). I think think there is more that enough room for both and this series is just as grand as Got (there is something like 33 books). The ending certainly has me wanting to see next week so for a pilot- good on them.
  10. It has been years since I read this series- but it was one of the first fantasy epics I really dived into so I was very excited (and nervous) but I am really enjoying it so far. It is absolutely beautiful to look at and I really like the score. Allanon, Wil, and the Elf King are all fantastically cast...I am still waiting out the rest of them. As far as a pilot goes- it was brilliant.
  11. http://deadline.com/2016/01/unreal-streaming-rights-hulu-1201677271/ Along with the other stuff they announced at the TCA panel- Hulu acquired the rights to the show (will be available 2/3) which is great for me because I want to watch this show but have not had cable in years (and it currently is not available on the Sling on-demand for Lifetime). Super excited now!
  12. One million high fives for this reference! (here is the link for anyone who has never seen this brilliance: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/hamm-and-buble/n12695) How about Bob Saget vs. John Stamos? Or John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, and John Stewart in a special political songs episode (/that is a terrible idea- but they would be fun).
  13. So last night on my FB feed the EW recap had a picture of Haley & Jackson and then said something about 2 goodbyes and I got really freaking excited...and then I read it and it was disappointing. I won't say that I like Cami, but she is inoffensive. Everything about Haley and the wolves is just straight up terrible and I really would have loved to see them dead!
  14. All of this! Except the mom thing- but if I get into that it will get dark, so I am going to skip it! This is only a nighttime soap :) This might be hitting a little to close to home for me- but we are in the process of adopting from the foster care system and many of things we have discussed with our social worker are legitimate fears Avery has. I would be extremely weary if I were him...he does not have an obligation to Juliet at this point, his only obligation is to his child. I don't blame him at all.
  15. So Emma being the Dark One was just a whole lot of nothing. We got some nice moments but really all we go is that she and Hook are TL. As the Savior she is supposed to have a ridiculous amount of power but that didn't translate at all to the DO. She was the only one who didn't really use magic at all this episode. The whole Wicked Witch back to Oz would be much more satisfying is there wasn't a freaking baby involved! I have never been ok with the whole baby thing anyway-but still. Once the rescue Hook from the Underworld-he better not die again. It just won't mean anything anymore. Really the Grail just melted away to only the dagger part? STFU Rummple- while I am ok with him being the DO again (never should have tried to redeem him in the first place)- I do not want to watch Belle constantly come back to him. I love the Captain Swan stuff (still just want a regular ILY at some point) but this whole arch just felt unfinished and everything was unearned. That's the word- it all feel unearned. I am not sure how I feel about the upcoming arch. If I had any faith in the writers I would be all for it. Greek mythology is rich with some fairly twisted tales as it is and I hope they show a good representation of the Underworld but I am not holding my breath... I love and hate this show so much all at the same time. It's exhausting.
  16. I was on the fence about Kilgrave's ending but I think the "anti-climactic" simple end was the way to go. It gives Jessica some sense of closure and effectively ends that period of her life. Now she rebuilds. Seriously- Tennant is so f'ing charming it's ridiculous. I think the way season 2 will play out depends on what happens in Luke's, Iron Fist;s, & the Defenders series. I am also really curious to see how they work in what else is happening in the universe... This series did confirm for me how much I wish Marvel Studios was in charge of Agents of Shield though. There were a few things I wasn't crazy about-but it was still by far one of the most enjoyable shows I have watched in a while. Ritter was fantastic and I was sucked in right away. They kept me till the end and I cannot wait to see where they are going to go with her.
  17. Holy shit Simpson! Budget Morgan Freeman was only 2 years away! I guess Hogarth does lean to the darker side of the black/white spectrum. Bodies are just dropping left and right. I love the Kilgrave/Jessica dynamic. It is so twisted and intense. Those poor stupid support group people. Fantastic episode!
  18. So Jessica is really not good at plans at all. That was amateur hour all round. I can't figure out if it is the writing (just in this episode) or if it is true to character that everyone would drop the ball so hard. On the one had I appreciate that none of these people are perfect, but wow that was just bad. Still loving the show though. It looks like Jessica has built up a resistance-so that should make the next confrontation interesting.
  19. The New Orleans witches are the worst. With everything they end up doing to each other-they do not need enemies. Why would anyone want to be a New Orleans witch? Couldn't Klaus just compel Tristian & Aurora to tell them the lat/long (or are they on Vervain and I just ignored that? And then kill them? Elijah's plan sounded fun though! Also, Aurora- Cookie Lyon ruined the dinner table with much more style. I still kind of enjoy Lucien's smart-assedness... So the only upsetting thing about Jackson leaving is now Hailey has more than enough time to bother Elijah. I am not happy with that development.
  20. Awww-creepy/sad neighbor guy! All the little side characters are such a nice touch-the sister was heart breaking. SuperMax was a truly bad plan. I think Simpson lied because he (rightly) does not want Trish anywhere near Kilgrave. Tennant is killing it in this role. The police station scene was riveting.
  21. Hubs and I just finished it and I was told in no uncertain terms that I had to wait to watch the next episode (he had to leave, so I switched over to Sleepy Hollow), which is a good thing. Really enjoyed it- love Kristen Ritter's portrayal- Veronica Mars with Superpowers/PTSD indeed (The VM spin has to be fun for Ritter) Absolutely loved how dark it got-Kilgrave certainly seems like he is just unapologetically evil. Really curious about Mosses' character. Luke Cage didn't get to do much-but I imagine he will be one of the ones trying to break Jessica's walls down (especially after he figures out she is super powered). I really liked the credits- the noir feel, the discordance. I think they set the mood well.
  22. Gothcha. It was so long ago :) (Even if I did a rewatch over the summer...) Well- from the way everyone behaved around him prior to them getting their memories I would still say Gold was not a good man. He might have gotten his memories back in the meantime- but he had set up the baby deal pre-Emma coming to SB. That was 1x4 and she Ella was at the point of giving birth- it takes time to forge good papers and what not...
  23. I could be wrong- but didn't he always have the memories of the EF but was playing dumb for Regina. A&E have always blurred that line of what Gold knew. I would say the Mr. Gold did have some very dark tenancies-even without his DO memories. He was selling babies, being a ruthless landlord, and essentially a mobster in SB...
  24. You know- aside from the forced part of Elijah/Haley and the pimping of her as an equal to the Original family- I just do not understand why the writers are trying to get us to buy the star-crossed love when they are making Jackson fairly likable (if boring) and it actually seems like Haley cares for him. Remember the last episode- the married couple loving? They are married- leave it at that writers- let Elijah move on to someone way more worthy and let Haley have her little werewolf family. ETA I am really digging Freya- a surprisingly decent addition!
