I hate to keep harping on this...but I just do not like the boss (I do not mind the actress-they are giving her shit to work with). They are writing Laura as insubordinate with her but they are also writing the boss as blind to what has to be a ridiculous close ratio for Laura. Even if you don't care for one of your best detectives- you don't treat them like a child. It is exhausting. Then all of a sudden she is backing her... You can write a competent female boss who is tough and fair (without giving her the background they did- that was cheap)but not a harpy. Whatever magic this show had that made it more than just another procedural "with a twist" is just a glimmer. Makes me sad. Also, just because it needs to be said...No, no, no to Jake & Laura.

I was so excited when the episode opened with Tony! Then I watched the rest of it. The Captain is still the worst. A painkiller addiction for Jake is lazy writing (and I really hated his shirt for some reason). I miss Laura & BIlly teaming up. I do love the ME. Mostly- the heart and humor is kind of just gone. I really, really, really wish that when Laura & Meredith had their little chat- Laura would have been far more explicit about Jake. I do not want to see a story where a woman who is balancing a career and motherhood after divorcing her cheating husband go back to him. It was one of the things that made this show different! She stood up for herself and her kids. They can be friendly & co-parent, but if they actually go down that road of rekindling their relationship- I am out. So that end scene was not a good sign...

Yay Glen! I miss Emily (that was her name, right? Juliette's old assistant...) Rayna just needs to hire a few more people to actually be there and do label type things (and stop promising that she will be there for everyone.) The Ex's have a decent manager and things seem to be getting done for them (aside from their personal issues) so Glen really could be all LayIa needs. Although dreamy Doc is smarter than putting his foot in it in front of Gunner (who is actually pretty successful in his own right already). Irritated that they have to make him an ass just to make Gunner look better though. I am actually kind of interested in Will's story so far. I am also far more interested in this Juliette than the one the show initially introduced and that is all on HP As many things that are wrong with this show, I still enjoy it.

I know it was for the gag- but seriously there wasn't one server in that restaurant that he could not pull from the floor to watch the baby. I would have killed to babysit over wait tables on certain nights! I liked it for what it is. It is a different enough premise, the cast is good, and it moved. Certainly one of the better pilots I have seen recently.

I was talking about her coming from the cave of black goo as her "rebirth" and Imp-Rumple saying that all the Dark Ones fought the temptation at first. I agree he embraced the darkness more easily- and maybe it is because she tethered herself vs. stabbing the old Dark One but we will see how it goes. For all my bitching I do actually kind of love the show. :)

So- a few good moments but not crazy about the jumping off point. I am astounded they kind of acknowledged the rape of Robin (FFS Zelena-go to a sperm bank if you want a baby). Cannot believe they are doubling down (tripling down?) on the amnesia & back flashes. Also, the inconsistency with what we saw of Rumple's journey to being the dark one vs. Emma-but I guess I kind of expected that... Merida was ok- curious to see how else she is going to fit in this season?
