  1. What is going on with these two? Why is she posting about not having her period? Why is she posting about being a present mom when the only thing she seems to be present with is her phone? I worry for those kids because Carlin and Evan seem to be struggling at this point and the kids are paying the price. Another baby will not only solve nothing, but create even more problems.
  2. To me, this is classic Jessa. She loves to get on social media to garner sympathy and clicks (and by extension cash), but the slightest disagreement and she gets angry. Upthread people were saying that she feels her feelings and moves on, but I see someone who is very thin skinned and takes offense at the slightest attempt to have a discussion, then plays the victim. I'm sorry she went through this, but I am tired of her behavior too.
  3. Responding to the discussion that started on the Trace and Lydia thread regarding Gil and Kelly's Q&A full of lies. I will just point out that Kelly used to have a blog that met with an "unfortunate accident" around the time that Gothard's perversions were exposed. She managed to disappear the posts around Erin's wedding where they had a groom's cake celebrating Gothard's birthday and had him give the charge to the couple at the wedding. Some of those pictures have been fished out of the bowels of the internet, so Kelly's attempt to disappear them didn't work. Also on that blog were plenty of statements from Kelly about how they left the number of children they had up to God and everyone should do the same. When I think Alyssa was about to marry, some gross person in the comments actually asked if Alyssa and John were leaving the number of children they had up to God. I'll take things that are none of anyone's business for 200, Alex. As to Kelly's claims about the reality show showing their real life, once again nope. I Love You Day was nothing more than everyone getting together for dinner and people drawing names to give small presents. There were no costume contests or catered meals. They did start the couples dinner tradition because Erin was courting and Alyssa was getting to know John, but it wasn't at a fancy restaurant. And as far as I could see, there were a few trips here and there where they crashed at friends' houses, but no huge rentals and big ski trips.
  4. Going over to the Gil and Kelly thread to continue this.
  5. I agree about Josie's employees possibly undercutting her since they are the ones actually doing the work. So, if I'm an engaged bridesmaid and really like the hair and makeup the stylist working on me did, I am more likely to work directly with them than to reach out to Josie and get whoever is available for my wedding. As for Kelton, anyone can start up a plumbing business, but not everyone can do a good job for a fair price. If I need plumbing help, I am going to go on reputation and Kelton has worked hard to build his. I had a leak that needed to be fixed and I went with a long-standing plumber who knew what they were doing. I wasn't going to go with someone who just tried to undercut on price because getting what you pay for when fixing plumbing is not a great outcome. My guess is that unless something goes wrong for Kelton, he should be able to fend off competition for the most part. No, he won't get super rich, but he won't be living off love offerings either. It seemed that his father was pretty solidly middle class, so Kelton may just want to get to and stay at that point and be content.
  6. They must have found another campground that was OK with the kids swimming in street clothes. I still remember JRod's screed against KOA because they got kicked out for doing that among other things. That was when she argued that they weren't wearing street clothes, but rather Christian swimwear. She was pretty butthurt over that one. I'm laughing at Dave as the myth or the legend. The only rocks I associate with him are the ones in his head. I'm rolling my eyes at JillR constantly talking about how she is healing. She is milking this for all it is worth. I find it interesting that JillR's father has posted some thanks for those who are helping them, but JillR has not thanked anyone. Once again, she thinks everything is her due. ETA: Forgot one more thing. Someone upthread referenced Lauren Duggar having an Asa cake at Bella's shower. While Lauren was definitely extra regarding her early miscarriage, I gave her a big pass because she was 19 and not very mature. JillR is a supposedly grown woman who has supposedly had several severe miscarriages before. She is definitely milking it.
  7. From what was written on the piece of masking tape on the church pew, there were two children mentioned: Bella and Daisy. Given that people believe she was going with an alphabet theme, the assumption is that she miscarried a child with a C name. No one knows for sure and good for them, they are staying private.
  8. Thanks @Notabug for the always helpful information. Though I first misread one sentence and thought that IUDs decapitate sperm. I was amused. Regarding Jessa, I am truly sorry for her that she had a miscarriage, but I am uncomfortable with how she handled the video releases. It just seems like she is trying to monetize the whole thing by first releasing the video announcing the pregnancy then 5 hours later releasing the other video. I don't understand why she wouldn't edit them together or just do like she did last time and state she had a miscarriage after the fact if she becomes pregnant again. And yes, she is lucky she could have a D&C because there are some states where she would be sent home and not treated until she was ready to bleed out.
  9. I'm no fan of their beliefs and I think Kelton is a strange bird in some ways, but they seem to be the only ones in this family with some maturity and brains. I suspect that grates on some of the other siblings because they know on some level that these two are outperforming everyone else in the family. Josie does still have that mean girl silliness with her latest bestie Lydia, but she does seem to be putting in the work and delaying gratification where she should. I genuinely hope they stick to their plans and don't disappoint us like Zach quitting a job with benefits or Evan throwing away five years of training to be a lazy grifter. I also notice that Josie has stayed far away from the boutique drama even though she could have potentially tied her barrette business in with it.
  10. Thanks @cereality for the great summation on the differences with the Bates vs. Duggar sisters. I do find it interesting that Erin seems to be more distant from her sisters than the others. I wonder how much of that is the favoritism she was shown growing up due to being musical. It seems that Lawson and Erin have always been Kelly's favorites because of that.
  11. I guess she saw people's commentary about how she didn't post every dramatic detail and decided to show us. She really has gone over the top. I'm not sure how many ERs she went to. Most would probably tell her she had to wait because she wasn't bleeding or in immediate distress. Fortunately when I recently fractured my wrist cleaning my house (that'll teach me) I was lucky enough to have an orthopedic urgent care near my house. Otherwise, I would have spent hours at the ER waiting for an xray. I can't see Jill waiting patiently for several hours once let alone several times. And why were they allowed access to infusion chairs to pose for a dumb picture? These people are just obnoxious.
  12. I agree that even a Christian school would be better than her attempting to teach on her own. Izzy seemed to thrive in school and Jill never expressed any issues with him being there, so I don't know why she would pull him out and not enroll Sam at all now. If it were me, I would do just what she is doing and not answer either way because I don't want some weirdo stalking my kids at school. Some of their fans go overboard and it's scary.
  13. Henry's speech still seems to be an issue. That video was just sad. Of course the leghumpers were all over what a brilliant teacher Jessa is.
  14. OK, maybe I'm paranoid, but I would never drink something that someone I barely know ordered for me and had ready before I got there. I understand that there is no danger to Jazz because she has a film crew tagging along, but to show that without comment was very irresponsible on the part of the producers. I think Jazz has unrealistic expectations for life in general. The minute something gets challenging and she doesn't have success, she is ready to quit because she has to have happiness every minute. She needs to talk to some people who are not trying to be on TV about what real life is like. You can enjoy your career on the whole, but still have days that you are bored or irritated. With dating, some instant romantic connection is rare. From my own experience and that of my friends, lasting relationships don't start like that. Also, Jazz seems to have little going on in her life besides being trans and doing the TV show. What does she talk about on a date? When I was in college, you couldn't shut me up about the courses I was taking or that I decided to learn to play the pipe organ for fun or funny stories about what I and my roommates were up to. If she really wants to do advocacy as a career, she needs a college degree. Her shelf life as youth transgender activist is coming to an end. She needs to talk with people who actually make their living in advocacy to better understand what she needs in her background to be successful. It isn't just getting up on a soapbox and calling everyone who doesn't completely agree with you a bigot. Greg's defense of staying in school was weak sauce - he should have been more blunt with her. Also, she needs to come up with a plan on her own for what she will do if she quits Harvard. Just laying around under her blankie and watching TV is not going to cut it.
  15. I don't want to think about the consequences to those poor kids if they don't pray for a new sibling. Remember that they have to be happy that there will less food because another blessing in coming. I'm sure every tine Jill carries on in front of Kaylee, she can be comforted by Jonathan buying her flowers, stuffed animals, jewelry, and dinner for her and her deadbeat husband at the good Olive Garden. I'm sure Nathan is doing that now since they are still grifting in Florida.
  16. Those shoes are ugly no matter if they fit or not. And fanny packs need to stay in the past. They were a great idea for traveling hands-free, but they looked awful and made it easy for someone to rip you off.
  17. True and of all of them, he probably remembers the lack of food the most. I think that was also behind his weight gain.
  18. I have no idea if she was pregnant or just late. I am surprised that this post doesn't contain the usual detail and dramatics that she usually goes with. I feel bad for Kayleigh because I am sure she will bring it up constantly. Hope this doesn't put poor Priscilla on the naughty list.
  19. I think the steak is just drowned in steak sauce. If you have a good piece of meat, you shouldn't even need steak sauce. He also may have been attempting Pittsburgh style which is charred on the outside and medium rare on the inside, though I doubt it That takes some skill, but done right it is steak nirvana. I agree the veggies look pitiful. At least this time they had a side. One time they just had meat and nothing else.
  20. Gothard's teachings worked best on newer Christians who weren't as familiar with the Bible. He would quote passages all over the place and people would come out of his seminars with their Bible full of sticky notes marking out all the stuff he had referenced. It was like a magician's slight of hand so that people were so dazzled that they thought everything he came up with was in the Bible somewhere. Couple that with being told that questioning would lead you straight to hell and you have the end result we are seeing. The problem with Jinger now is that she is still parroting someone else's interpretation rather than her own.
  21. Yeah, Jed! was sure excited about those Hogan's Heroes DVDs. I guess they are catching up on all the TV shows they missed growing up. Speaking of Pringles, I remember FF took several cans of pringles with him when he went to propose to Anna. When his luggage was overweight, he took out other things, but not the Pringles. I know they have Pringles in Florida, so that struck me as bizarre.
  22. In the still picture accompanying the Bates family post, it looks like Carlin is about to knock Katie out of bed to get the picture of someone holding the baby. Why didn't she move to the other side of the bed and have them turn to face her. Plus, I'm wondering what exactly Carlin did for Katie since all we saw was them going to NYC and fooling around. I doubt she cleaned the house or prepared some freezer meals for Katie and Travis like the rest of us do when we are trying to help out new mothers.
  23. If that is the case, would Harvard finally tell her to forget it? I thought the whole point of them making sure she was ready before readmitting her was so that she wouldn't wash out again. I hope it's just for show content and that she continues her education and gets the heck away from her wacko mother and brother.
  24. My experience from my brief time in an extremely conservative church is that there are no boundaries when prayer request time comes around. I have heard some very personal stuff that I would be mortified to have strangers know if I were the one involved. So from that standpoint, Prissy's prayer request does not stand out as that unusual in their circles. I do get a laugh out of her outing the fact that they are really vacationing rather than performing ministry activities. I also wonder if Prissy realized that the audience was wider than expected. Unless I am misunderstanding, this request was seen on a livestream of their Wednesday night service. She may not be able to conceive of random people watching that livestream who are not involved in the church.
  25. It does seem they got more out of the visit to Pompeii than other places at least once they got out of the McDonald's. It does strike me that they seem so low-key about getting to do al of this traveling. I would have been over the moon at their age if I had the money and vacation time to do this.
