Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Browncoat replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
On a related note, if I tell you (general you) something bad, like my broken water pipes, please don't remind me of how many people are so much worse off than I am. It doesn't make my situation better, and it doesn't make me feel better about my situation. -
That bothered me, too.

The ghost called it "horsey sauce" though, so Isaac would not have immediately made a connection between that and horseradish.

Started off well and ended well, but had a bit of a rough patch in the middle -- 3/5 for me this week.

I had to think about it, but I got FJ just in the nick of time. I knew it was Mutiny on the Bounty, and I had to get past Mr. Christian. I also got the TS of Prince Edward Island, What's Love Got to do With It?, Roberta Flack, and yellow dog. Pretty good end to the week, I guess.

S01.E09: Quarterfinal #7: Michael Cera, Brianne Howey, Zoe Chao

I didn’t know this was on last night! I watched Young Sheldon and Ghosts. Sounds like I didn’t miss much of a game, though, and I guess I should set my DVR. I liked it better on Sundays. -
I can't believe I missed FJ tonight! In my defense, I've never actually seen that movie. I mostly know about it, but couldn't tell you when it came out. And the only TS I got were ferrets and Linda Evans. Congrats to Patrick!
-
I should have gotten FJ tonight -- I was just in Panama and we learned about all that history! I didn't get any TS, either. And I started the week off so well...
-
Almost an instaget FJ for me tonight. I didn't have it immediately, but I had it within about ten seconds. I only got three TS -- fish sticks, Battery, and tract. Which made me think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the huge tracts of land...

I thought Ray was a goner for sure after he missed that DD! Nice that he came back and made it a game. I thought the other guy made a smart wager on FJ. And FJ was an instaget -- I did try to second-guess myself, but just couldn't come up with anything else that made sense. Good start to the new year, but I'm sure it will fall apart tomorrow. TS I got were brass, Michigan J. Frog, Columbus, and cohort.

I love those things! They are a little on the spendy side, but they are delicious. -
2/5 this week.

Instaget FJ for me tonight! I also got the TS of buffalo and lunch lady. That was another really good game! Hardly any TS, and everyone had great scores going into FJ.
-
Man, I am sucking at FJ this week. I feel like I should have gotten tonight's, and did the forehead smack when the correct response was revealed, but I also said Luna. Oh well. It was still a really good game -- anyone could have won! The only TS I got was bradycardia. I can't believe we had a whole category about flute rock without a Jethro Tull clue! Ian Anderson is the king of flute rock!

As soon as I saw the category, I knew I didn't have much of a chance to get FJ right, and I was correct! I really don't know much about war history, so I did not come up with anything. But I did get the TS of Malfoy, Concentration, epinephrine, and dura mater, so I have that going for me.

I saw this last night, and also enjoyed it! In addition to the camera panning up at the end, did y'all catch that the painting between the two John Ford asked Sam to describe had the horizon in the middle? There were also lots of little camera tricks like soft focus for the girlfriend and of course graininess for Sam's films. I have to say, I loved the Ditch Day video with the gulls "pooping" on the students. That cracked me up! When they were filming it, I had no idea what they were going for with dropping ice cream on people. Paul Dano was definitely the standout in his quiet, understated manner. I will also agree that it probably could have been trimmed a little, but I'm not sure what I would cut. Someone upthread complained about the cigar-lighting scene, but that was such a power play that I wouldn't cut it. I would bet that had Sam not been there, waiting, John Ford would not have taken so long. He was just making sure Sam knew that Sam was not terribly significant.

FJ was an instaget for me, too -- I had it by the time I got to "real" in the clue. I did finish reading the clue to check myself, though! Good game, though -- not too many TS. The only one I got was vortex.
-
I first saw it as an adult (well, college student-type adult), and I liked it then and still do. I can watch it a couple of times during the annual marathon -- I somehow manage to start in the middle the first time and then watch it all the way through and back to where I first started, but not more than that. My father enjoys it, but my older sister does not.

And sometimes, even if you turn on the faucets, your pipes can break! One of mine in my crawl space broke (I'm not entirely sure what is causing the leak -- it might just be a problem with a place in the PVC piping where two pieces are joined together) despite my running the water! <sigh> It's always something...

I had no clue for FJ -- I don't think I've ever heard of that show. And the only TS I got were Nature Valley, Barnum, and Namib.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Browncoat replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
God damn it. I left my water running a bit over the weekend, and a pipe still broke/burst/came unglued in my crawl space! It's been spewing water for who knows how long (I've been away from home since Friday morning), and there's not only water in the crawl space, but the basement is a little bit flooded as well. To top it all off, my plumber is so swamped with more urgent things that he won't be able to get to me until Friday morning. I suppose the silver lining is that it is only in the basement, which is used mostly for storage (although the washer/dryer are there, along with the furnace, but they're all on blocks/planks above the floor), and there's a sump hole/sump pump so the water will only get so deep. But ugh! Another thing I have to deal with, and it sucks. -

I haven't seen this ad (no Wegmans nearby), but I'm mad at it because the kid didn't offer to help the woman shovel! -
