Thanks, @saber5055! It's always nice to believe my response would be ruled correct. Yep.

Huh. All this time, I thought it was just Neverland. I can't believe they left almost an entire category in the first round! That seems like more clues than usual left. And they didn't clear the board on the second round, either! I was rooting for Vinay except for the leaning part. Sorry he missed FJ. Although I might have been counted wrong with just Neverland. The only TS I got were Alabama, Attica, and Nigella.
-
That really pissed me off, too.

Yeah, Rob bugged me with the starting in the middles of categories. And what was with the leaning forward to answer? It was like he and Shawn both thought they needed to lean to speak into the microphone or something. And Matt with the brain farts! Although I'd probably be like that too -- the answer right there on the tip of my tongue. He did much better when he calmed down a bit. Samurai was the only thing I could think of, and I might have been thinking of Shogun when I wrote Samurai down. But I'm counting it as a get. How can you not know somersault? I got that one and island.

It's aglet in crossword puzzles, where I learned what they are. Glad Frank lost, but it doesn't sound like the new champ is much better. I'm not sad that I missed last night (and Arlo was great! He even did Alice's Restaurant!), but I'm not sure I'm looking forward to tonight.

I saw it last night, and really enjoyed it. If it had been about the NYT and their publishing the papers, it would have been called "The Times" and not "The Post".

I am glad I’m goint to see Arlo Guthrie tonight and will miss Frank’s second appearance! I was more unhappy that he won than that Marty lost. The only TS I got was The Time Traveller’s Wife, and FJ was an instaget. I hoped that it was before Frank’s time and he’d miss it, but no such luck.

I wanted to like Dom because curling. I love curling! But I just couldn't with him -- between his too-large jacket, starting in the middle of categories, and buzzer mashing, it was too much for me. Then, tuba! WTF? I'm pretty sure tubas have been around longer than the 1950s, there, Dom. FJ was an instaget, and I'm not that old! Seemed obvious that they were going for a car, with "victory lap" in the clue, and I don't know of any other car that was as widely ridiculed as the Edsel. I'm glad Marty got it and won again. I also had to think about shell shock -- had to get back before it was called PTSD, but I managed, and I also got Shropshire, but those were the only TS I got.

I thought the same thing.

Favorite Episodes: Kerosene Cucumbers, Anyone?
Browncoat replied to SunShine Gal's topic in The Andy Griffith Show [V]
Nope. She was a shrew AND she couldn't cook a leg of lamb. Even if she could cook a leg of lamb (Andy's favorite dish), she'd still be a shrew. -
Depends on where you live. Around here, it's definitely CRAP-ee.

I could have stood there all night and not been able to come up with FJ, though I'd heard the quote before. The book title just would not come to me -- it was a real forehead-slapper when the correct response was revealed. Duh. Nice shout-out to Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd! I was a little distracted tonight, and only remember getting the TS of largemouth and smallmouth bass, 73, and 4000. Good game tonight. I wasn't annoyed by any of them, but am glad Marty won again.

I assume Geico has brought this one back because of the Olympics, but I still love the Sumo wrestler ice skating. I just saw it today for the first time in a long time.

So much dysfunction in this movie. I didn't dislike it, either, but I'm not sure I can say I liked it. The acting, cinematography, and costumes were all wonderful, but the story and the characters? So, so dysfunctional. I decided it was part a straight-up character study, part The Beguiled, and part Misery. When did Daniel Day Lewis become Jeremy Irons?

Original Flavor Season Talk: Dinner at Rodbell's

Shampoo woman. -
Agreed. Make some cash on consignment shop merch all you want.

I wasn't a great fan of John's, but he really lost me with the reselling of thrift store clothing. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I mean, I know anyone can buy things at thrift stores, and do anything with them (I found the most hideous bridesmaid dress for a Halloween costume at a thrift store), but profiting from thrift store items just seems wrong to me. So it didn't hurt my feelings in the slightest that he crashed and burned so spectacularly. And end guy's Snoop Dog story went on for far far too long, so I wasn't sad that he lost. FJ was an instaget for me, possibly because when I was young and foolish and thought I wanted to go to medical school, Emory was on my short list. I guess at least the two who missed it knew that the CDC is in Georgia. TS and missed DD that I got include time signature, A Brief History Of Time, Homer, Chuck, Vienna Boys' Choir, and jitterbug.

For the Staten Island Ferry category, I pre-guessed Working Girl as a clue.

@SierraMist, if I could like your post more than once, I would. I hate hate hate the cold shoulder tops, too. If not for that, I could have rooted for Marcy. While I’m not best pleased they let Sean pass with his pronunciations, I believe they must have done because he has some type of speech impediment. Otherwise, there is no excuse. And it would explain his difficulty with “actuarily” the other day. Nevertheless, I’m not sad to see him go, although John’s buzzer flailing is going to get old fast. I missed FJ, saying yellow, white and blue. I thought of orange, but changed my mind. And the only TS I got were Swift, Social Security Act, and C.S. Lewis.

I got sort of lost in Poland, Maine a couple of years ago. Not really lost, I just took a wrong turn at a 5-way intersection, and it took me a bit to realize it. As long as you don't call yourself a water sommelier!
-
Okay, Sean really annoyed me tonight, and Quin didn’t start off well, either, flailing the buzzer like he did. Quin grew on me, though, and I hoped he’d make it. Nabila lost me with the water sommelier thing. I was clueless on FJ. I did, however, manage to get the TS/missed DD of unknown soldier, caddies, resolution, scarlet fever, Sea-Tac, and Delmar.

They do that sometimes when someone other than Alex reads the clue, particularly if they don't have (or don't want to show) video of the clue reader. In this case, the people reading the memoirs were the authors of said memoirs. Video would have made the clues to easy. The voices were helpful enough.

It's two hours again this week, too, isn't it? I'll have to record and watch later if it is.

I feel so ignorant for not getting The Weather Channel! I used to watch that ALL the time back when it actually had weather all the time. I kind of couldn't figure out what the clue was asking for. I blame it on staying up too late last night. I like the new champ, too. Old champ was even cheerful as she was losing terribly. Overall a good game, though, with few TS. I managed hue, Russian and Rappahannock. I'd have to leave my home state if I'd missed Rappahannock! I hated the memoirs category -- too slow with the authors reading the clues.

Me, too. I liked the Tide series.
