Finally got to watch last night's ep -- I think because it's spelled "Manderley" and not "Manderlay", it's pronounced with a -lee on the end and not a -lay, and I completely agree with that ruling on Paul. It doesn't hurt that that ruling helped him lose. However, he should have been dinged for not saying show in the Mary Tyler Moore response. Mostly I am glad he didn't win. He was way too slow with picking clues. I got Alexandria, vis-a-vis, 3 stars, diamonds, Chronicle, and maria. FJ was an instaget -- and even thinking about it, I couldn't come up with anything else. Statue of LIberty would never have occurred to me.

I finally got to see this last night, and I really liked it. I admit I would rather Elio have been 18 (and Oliver not looked 35), but it's Italy! I did have to keep reminding myself that Elio was meant to be 17 -- he looked 15, and at times acted like he was about 12 or 13. That said, I thought they had great chemistry together. I also think Elio's mom knew before anyone else did -- including Elio and Oliver.

Science, mostly the Biology type, would be my dream category. 80s pop music (especially early 80s) would also be great! I'd have to give a hard pass to anything history related -- wars, presidents, royalty.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

All the Febreze in the world won't fix that shirt. -
What a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad game tonight. Way too many TS, way too many idiotic gestures at the beginning, way too much buzzer flailing, and way too much starting in the middles of categories! Not to mention the FJ that all three should have gotten easily. Pinocchio? Really, Alan? New champ at least showed some promise by mostly starting at tops of categories, but we'll see. TS I got included scout, opal and pearl, bats, absolute zero, Italian, and steam. ETA: I knew the board in the first round wouldn't be cleared! Thanks, Alan's endless recitation of whatever he was reciting!

I am mad at TVLand! They're currently showing "UN, The Night and The Music", wherein Charles gets repeatedly humiliated by this British doctor, who ends their final conversation with the line, "You have been outclassed by the son of a bloody butler!" TVLand cut the next bit, which, to me, just makes the whole scene -- in the full version, the camera then cuts to Hawkeye standing on his head, howling with laughter so hard that he falls over. TVLand's version cut to BJ telling his patient that he couldn't save the leg. Does TVLand think we won't notice?

Camazotz in the ads (where the kids are all bouncing the balls in unison) looks exactly like I pictured it when I read the book, though, so I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic about the rest.

And even if they start to run short, they'll just make some more. And there is nothing quite like (or quite as delicious!) as fresh, hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts. It's like eating sweet air -- they just melt in your mouth. -

Even still, the guy acts like he didn't notice how stretched out the collar was. Did someone dress him while he was unconscious? And surely he had ten minutes between the time he asked her out until he got to the restaurant to go buy a shirt if all his nicer clothes were dirty. -
I'll go on small ship cruises (150 people or fewer), but I am disinclined to go on a cruise ship whose population is greater than that of the town I live in.

Neither was quick to take the chance. Obi Wan didn't even want to admit he WAS Obi Wan! And Yoda kept nattering on about how Luke was too old and untrainable, before reluctantly agreeing to help. Seeing Ben sleeping was not the first time Luke had met him, or seen into his mind.

Mary's endless story left no time for Alan to tell us a story. I'm not sad about that. I am sad, though, that Kate bet so much and lost, leaving us to suffer through at least another day of Alan. I didn't give the game my full attention, but I managed the TS of Brazil thrill, Herculaneum, and Pennsylvania Ave. I totally blanked on FJ.

As Seen On TV: Does ANY of this crap work?
Browncoat replied to peacheslatour's topic in Commercials
I admit to buying the Hurricane Spin Scrubber for the tub. It works, and has saved my knees! But I bought it at a brick-and-mortar store, not via the commercial. -
One of my least favorite episodes is on now -- called "Who Knew?" -- about the nurse who went for a walk at night and stepped on a mine and died. It's fine right up until Hawkeye's eulogy. I just didn't like that he made her life and death all about him in the end.

Thanks for sharing that, @rubaco!

Oh my god! I miss Rob already. By the way, Alan, rhinos are not livestock. I got compression, Mary Leakey, and cattle, but could not for the life of me pull Viola Davis's name out of the deep recesses of my brain.

And dude, if you want a second date, put some damn effort into the first one! Wear a shirt with a collar!
