  1. Woody Harrelson has really grown as an actor, I think. It's hard to believe Chief Willoughby used to be Woody Boyd, tending bar at Cheers.
  2. A tall frosty mug of Schlitz brandy, anyone?
  3. Hooray Jennifer! After Rachel's dirty feet story, horrible Southern accent (which of course Alex loved since it was just as bad as his), and the idiotic guess of Schlitz brandy, I was even more over her than I had been. Good grief. Schlitz brandy. Ahem. I did not get FJ, having never read or seen Pippi Longstocking. I chose Charlotte of Charlotte's Web, even though I knew it was so very wrong. Not as wrong as Schlitz brandy, but still very wrong. I did, however, get The Mary Tyler Moore Show, calico, gun, Wikileaks (surprising TS), Westminster, and the missed DD of usury. I was shouting usury! at my TV, but as usual, the contestant didn't hear me. The jellyfish on that sign looked an awful lot like sperm.
  4. As Evan discovered the hard way. I'm impressed with the TAR medical team that they could fix her tooth like that, even if it is a temporary fix.
  5. Same here. And I can like my own posts, too. ETA: But I apparently don't get notifications that I've liked my own posts. The number by the heart increases, though.
  6. Hah! I got a bunch of TS last night that I forgot to add in my last post. They include coupler, Cambridge, U.S. Senate, a man I didn't like, My Blue Heaven, and 1980. I would like to thank Margaret Houlihan and a relatively early episode of MASH for my knowing My Blue Heaven.
  7. They're all the way over on the right. Rachel got lucky last night, again. Unfortunately. I was rooting for Rosie, too, despite her wave at the beginning. Van Gogh was an instaget for me.
  8. Petanque seemed like a version of Bocce to me.
  9. Still hate the head-to-head, although at least the last team to arrive at it was also the team eliminated, rendering the head-to-head moot for elimination purposes. I know they weren't going to go all the way, but I was sad to see Slam Dunk go. However, not at all sad to see Chomp go. Navigation really did them in in the end. I did love seeing all the self-driving and self-navigation. But how can you not get a car in reverse?
  10. I also have long hair, but when I touch it, it's to move it out of my face, or tuck it behind my ears, not stroke it or pet it like a dog sitting on my shoulder. Her motion was just a little too cutesy for me. I think she's trying too hard to be the manic pixie dream girl.
  11. Another horrible game. So many bad guesses and TS! I had hopes for middle guy when he was just calling out the values of the clues and not the whole name for dollars please, Alex. Alas, my hopes were dashed. For TS, I got Australia, the surprising one of Lizzie Borden, sugarcoat, peaches and cream, cars, and Custis. FJ was another instaget for me.
  12. OMG! That was the WORST! He would have done better if he'd stuck with a French-ish accent/pronunciation. I'm surprised no one has commented about the "Women Authors" category. Heh. Boo, hiss on the reversal of ski-mobile. Nope, nope, nope. Ski-doo is acceptable because it's a brand, but nope on the ski-mobile. Too many TS/missed DDs tonight! I managed Big Muddy, St. Paul's, giraffe, manatee, l'chaim, in flagrante delicto, What's Love..., Itzhak Perlman, and frets. FJ took me a second -- I had to stop focusing on "Greek" and pay attention to the year and to "London" and then to the category. Then it took me a bit more to remember Sherlock's brother's name. I prefer to think I would have had enough time to write it down.
  13. From thejeopardyfan.com: "Novosibirsk, the 3rd-largest city in Russia, translates as this “city”: the 1st word for its more recent founding, the 2nd for its location." My line of thinking was this: Novo plus "1st word" plus "more recent founding" = new, and sibirsk plus "2nd" plus "location" = Siberia because the clue specifies in Russia and sibirsk kind of sounds like Siberia, thus New Siberia.
  14. FJ could not have been easier unless they'd just said, "Write 'What is New Siberia?'" I would have been fine if none of these people had won. Between Rachel and Adrienne's swaying, and Gerard and Adrienne's pokiness, I was done with them before the first commercial break. But I suffered through it all, and managed to get some TS/missed DD, including the plague, Die Fledermaus, Marilyn Horne, and ballast. I haven't ever actually changed the ballast in a fluorescent light, but I've seen it done many many times.
  15. Just imagine Mary's reaction if Georgie had taken Sheldon's lunch. And you know she would have found out.
  16. Also, on MASH, Harry Morgan played the batshit crazy General for one episode before returning as Colonel Potter.
  17. Boo, hiss for Lee. He seemed a bit out of it during the first round. Rachel has the potential for making me crazy with her swaying. FJ took me a second, but only because I briefly blanked on the capital of Canada. I got tom-tom, mostly because that was the only double-named drum I could think of. I also got The Old Curiosity Shop, Uncle Henry and the missed DD of teamster.
  18. Had to think about FJ for a second, going through all the possible 3 related words and prefixes in my head before I finally came up with Triscuit. I don't eat those, either, so it wasn't immediately obvious to me. Not a horrible game. The quilt story went on too long, although I'd bet some of her quilts are lovely. I did like middle guy's story about telling people his wife's from the South. Heh. But I'm glad Lee won again, and I'm not even mad that it was a runaway. I only got three TS tonight -- sailor (thanks, crossword puzzles!), Gorilla, and Everest. I couldn't figure out the animal homophones category at first, and appreciated Lee's joke about ending the misery for that one! Everest was a surprising TS.
  19. Ha! And nope. My mother doesn't like it, so she never made it. No idea why we never had TNC.
  20. I've never heard it called TNC, and we didn't eat that (or meatloaf!) when I was a kid, so I had no clue on that one.
  21. That was not a very smart choice, keeping the backpack on.
  22. That was brutal! I am so glad it was an NEL. I'm not sure I realized how much I'm rooting for Slam Dunk until there was a very real chance they'd be eliminated. I admit I wasn't paying close attention either, but in the flashback, it just looked like Jessica was trying to be helpful. I didn't read any malicious intent.
  23. Lee is incredibly quick! So quick that we even got through the Galapagos category with Alex reading the clues! I'm glad we did, too. Sorry Gilbert lost, but I'm okay with Lee winning. I had to think about FJ for a second, but got it in time. Seems like there weren't too many TS this game, either, which also helped them clear the board. I managed Reaper, Mellon, and schwa. Me, too. I am terrible with remembering dates like that. I could probably do decades, but not years.
