  1. Is that NBC woman really that short, or is Alexander Skarsgard that tall?
  2. Not feeling Diane Kruger's dress. Or Millie Bobbie Brown's.
  3. I'm not crazy about the neckline of Natalie Portman's dress.
  4. It's horrible! I've switched to NBC. Not a fan of that giant feathery collar around Hugh Jackman's wife's neck, either, but Emma Stone looks lovely.
  5. At least it's the last one. Right? Right? We can only hope.
  6. I had the same thought. ETA: I hope we get a better look at Emma Watson's dress, because from what I saw, just ugh.
  7. I think my favorite part was them building a sledding trail and using it. Well, that and all of Fatima's comments.
  8. Why not just have two Maids of Honor, or in this case, technically and nitpickily, Matrons of Honor since Penny and Bernadette are both married?
  9. I'll join you in the horrible person category -- I wondered that when I saw the still from the video. I haven't actually watched.
  10. Good grief, Claudia was annoying! And Sean pissed me off during the introductions with that inane wave. Brandon was the least offensive, but he really needs to enunciate the question part of his questions. About 80% of the time, I didn't hear him say the "What is" part. And he needs to learn how to wager. No idea what he was thinking with that FJ wager. He got lucky. FJ was an instaget for me, though I'm not sure why. I did read Archie comics back in the day, so maybe that contributed. Still mad that they aren't clearing the boards! I was completely clueless for the entire hockey category. And I only managed three TS -- Temple Square, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Marquis de Sade.
  11. In Virginia there was. One of my teachers regularly chewed tobacco in class without issue, but he was fired for coming to work with alcohol on his breath. This would have been a bit earlier in the 80s.
  12. I'm not crazy about Sean, either. Part of it was the pointing at the beginning when he was answering clues, but a larger part is how SLOW he is to pick clues. Step it up, Sean, and maybe, just maybe we'll get to finish a whole board this week! I only knew the Great Santini, eels, and 1900s, and while I could picture the car emblem in my head, I could not for the life of me pull Corvette out of my brain.
  13. Probably because she didn't ring in much, and didn't have too many chances to be slow in picking the next clue.
  14. Hooray, no more Ms. Poundcake! So (heh), did her parents elope because her mom was pregnant with her and they named her after their parents to smooth over the whole premarital sex thing? That's kind of what her story sounded like to me. I did like the guy's Jimmy Carter story. I also said the Barber of Seville for FJ. Since the clue just asked for the character and not necessarily the character's name, I'm going to pretend our Barber answer would have been acceptable. TS I got were area, vegan, saltpetre and of course, 27. In fact, I was shouting 27! at my television until the two challengers missed it, and then I shut up because I didn't want Ms. Poundcake to hear me.
  15. Agreed 100%! Although, when I was watching the movie earlier tonight, I couldn't help but think of Laurie in "Roseanne" when Becky wanted to go on birth control.
  16. Good grief. I'm going to be out tomorrow, and I have set my DVR to record, but I'm not sure I can stand to watch if it's as slow as it was tonight. I was very sad that they didn't finish the 80s category. I also hoped Sara Lee would crash and burn after missing what I thought was the ridiculously easy DD of appendicitis. The only TS I got that I remember was Tanzania, and I'd like to thank The Amazing Race for that. I also said Agatha Christie for FJ, knowing it was wrong, but I couldn't come up with anyone else.
  17. Not even close. I'm not sure he rang in at all in DJ. But he did get FJ right, not that it helped any, since he only had $1100 going into FJ. I, however, did not get FJ right -- it was all the USSR to me! I liked the way Lisa told the story of how she met her husband. Pauses in all the right places. I was sad that they didn't finish the animal poetry category! Between the long category names and the insistence on saying the full names of the categories, we'll never finish a board again. TS and missed DDs I got included lizard, cat, pig (which was a surprise), MIT, and alligator. Alligator was just a guess -- what other creature would be named Swampy? And I was shouting MIT! MIT! at my TV -- seemed obvious. Three letter response in the Boston area?
  18. I noticed birds flying around the island in the long shots, and wondered if they were actually puffins that couldn't be erased (there were A LOT of them). Thanks for this info!
  19. Durmstrang, but then are never seen again. Lavender's never again seen, even in the common room. My point is, there were enough crowd scenes in the movies that these people could have at least been in the background somewhere. I've always just assumed that Hermione and Lily were sports -- random mutations -- in their families, not necessarily a result of dormant genes. I'd like to have a bit of a prequel about pre-Hogwarts Hermione and her parents. She seemed so blase about magic and all, while Harry was enchanted and awestruck. Maybe that's on Pottermore, but I never really got into that except to be sorted and acquire my wand and Patronus.
  20. Oh, and I think I lied about the Patil sisters -- they might have been in Dumbledore's Army. Watching now, and it's a little hard to tell. But Lavender's definitely not there. She disappears until we see her killed by the werewolf. So half-blood even means quarter-blood or 1/8 blood?
  21. The ages of the secondary characters, with very few exceptions (like Ginny), were never clear to me. Was Lavender younger, too? The Patil sisters, who were in different houses in the books, were the same age as Harry -- where were they earlier? And where did they disappear to after Ron and Harry ruined the Yule Ball for them? I mostly blame Ron for that. I think if not for loyalty to Ron, Harry might have been out there on the dance floor, having fun. Agreed about Percy, though. Another fun question: What makes a witch or wizard "pure-blood"? Both of Harry's parents were magical, is he pure-blood? How many generations does it have to go back?
