I didn't even have a guess for FJ. I pre-guessed Betty White, and she wouldn't get out of my brain. Maybe I need a Snickers. The only TS I got were pendulum, Cedar Rapids, chicken (I'm keeping it, too, @Katy M!), and south.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Browncoat replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
How is it that I only just noticed that that stupid "Unstopables" is spelled with only one "p"? And while I'm being annoyed, I will also be annoyed at Off for spelling it "pretection" instead of protection. -
3/5 again for me this week.

Another FJ where I could have had all the time in the world and never come up with it. I had no idea what the connection was. And I started off this week so well! I did get the TS of Hermitage, Skid Row, Judy Garland, Donna Summer, and vitreous. So, if Kit Carson is our mascot, is "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" our official song? I cracked up when Ryan answered that.

I had absolutely no clue for FJ tonight. I could have sat here for days and not come up with the correct bodies of water. But I did get the TS of Mississippi (that one surprised me), ailerons, Kansas (also a surprising TS), whale, layette, and Basque. Mayim missed another pronunciation opportunity with Hercule Poirot.

Oh yes. They definitely are.

I just finished Jane Green's "Sister Stardust". You could almost call it historical fiction -- it's based on real events at the Marrakesh house (palace?) of John Paul Getty Jr and his wife Talitha in the late 60s. The main character was a young woman, a "country mouse" from Dorset, England, as she reminisces about the time she spent in Marrakesh with the Gettys. The author obviously didn't know details about the happenings there, but there were some real events woven into the narrative. I really enjoyed it -- and it made me want to read more about Paul and Talitha.

Who, What, When, Where?!: Miscellaneous Celebrity News 2.0
Browncoat replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Everything Else TV
Meghan has to step forward because her father stepped up for her so much during her life! Oh, wait. -
Same. Just because we've only seen her four times doesn't mean Marty's only seen her four times.

Instaget FJ for me tonight. I also got the TS of High Life, Gilda Radner, Key West, 8th, and Mexico. I didn't understand Mayim's comments about Ryan being cool before it was cool to be a Queen fan. Wasn't it cool to be a Queen fan before Wayne's World came out? (I admit I do the head-bobbing thing that they did when I hear "Bohemian Rhapsody", though.)

That's a very pretty mug.

Catching up from last night -- I did get FJ, but it was a circuitous route. Stuart never occurred to me, though. I started with Wallace, then thought about the Wallace Monument in Stirling, which led me to Stirling Castle and the statue of Robert the Bruce outside it, and I said, "Bruuuuce? Maybe? Since he's at the castle?" The only TS I got were joint (heh), Nathan Chen, and Gerald Ford.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Browncoat replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
@Mondrianyone, are you me? I also once beat a guy at Trivial Pursuit who’d never lost. To make matters worse for him, he was a sexist pig and didn’t believe he could be beaten by a girl. Until I did so, that is. -
I didn’t recognize Gina Yashere at first, either.

The answer to all your smelly questions is bacteria. And fungus in some cases, but mostly bacteria. We are teeming with bacteria, inside and out, and the vast majority of them are good and helpful. We could not survive without them.

Instaget FJ for me tonight. I am a little surprised that it was a TS, but I guess since everyone gets vaccinated for it these days (and it's almost eradicated worldwide!), no one even thinks about it any more. I also got quite a few of the many TS, including Camaro, clear-cutting, Chrysler Building, Air Force, flood, Gila River, and Hobson.

I don't know why they couldn't leave Dean with Bruce or Kim, but no way would I even consider leaving him with Gramps. Maybe send him to his country cousins instead? Did they have tornado sirens in the 60s?

Well, somebody needs to tell all the MTV veejays from the 80s, and whichever news I watched the other day. They all pronounced it like van jealous.

That's how I've always heard it pronounced.

3/5 for me this week.

Boo, hiss -- did not get FJ tonight. The only TS I got were Argentina and Faulkner. Sorry, Mayim, that is not how you pronounce "Vangelis". Unless, of course, everything else I've ever heard about him since 1981 and Chariots of Fire to the recent tributes is incorrect.

S05.E22: A Clogged Pore, a Little Spanish, and the Future
Browncoat replied to Bort's topic in Young Sheldon
Couldn’t they have given Missy a better crush than the sno-cone, Vanilla Ice? Sheldon’s dream really was amazingly well done. -
Sometimes it's a good thing not to know too much. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon was the only Wonder of the World I could think of. I was astonished when it was right! I also got the TS of ballpoint pen, samovar, amnesty, and crest and trough.
