T claims that he sleeps only 5 hours per night, sometimes less. Insomnia, hostility, aggression and anger are symptoms of early dementia, before it's diagnosed due to later, undeniable symptoms. There's a school of thought that some of the hostility, aggression, and anger is caused by feelings of frustration because they realize and resent that their mental abilities are failing. (I saw that when I worked in a locked memory unit for a few years). His father had Alzheimer's for the last 6 years of his life and the process typically begins years before the diagnosis. Which is what we now know was happening with Reagan during his last term. I don't enjoy agreeing with Joey and Mika but I give some credence to what they said about dementia.

She comes off like a prototypical hillbilly rube who was determined to reinvent herself in the big city. Which was admirable until she drove past substance, ended up at desperation, put it in Park, looked around and said "Here is where I will live my why." Hey grrl, we see what you did ...

Janelle Brown: Smarter Than Your Average Brown (Maybe)
suomi replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
LOL, tiredness of the butt pretty much sums up Janelle (and totally sounds like something heard in Judge Judy's courtroom). -
(Hoping this is OK because we're in a social thread. Mea culpa if not. I think it's something Rach would be into. If so, maybe she took a knife to the RFID in her new canoe). RFID (radio-frequency identification) was a huge breakthrough for many reasons. RFID tags used to be thrown out with the packaging but now they're embedded everywhere, in the seams of clothing and shoes, inside furniture and electronics, etc. The original intent was to use them for shipping and taking inventory - electronic readers very quickly and efficiently scan cartons and pallets in stores and warehouses instead of using humans to count manually. It turned out that the RFID wave was just getting started. Smart refrigerators that can read barcodes and RFIDs? At this point they require human input to inventory the food, create shopping lists and reminders, while being promoted as automatically regulating humidity and temperature for the scanned items. "Use the eggs, they're nearing Best By date" - how convenient, and eventually your fridge will share info about your food with cable/satellite/wifi providers who will share it with advertisers. The sharing capability is built-in and automatic and must be disabled by the consumer, and how many will do that? TPTB anticipate that very few will disable, especially those in the wifi generation. The basic premise is that, for example, if you have Hunt's ketchup in your fridge then Hunt's is wasting their advertising $$$ on you so your TVs/devices will carry Del Monte ketchup commercials instead - along with coupons to lure you. We'll get our feet wet with Amazon's Alexa fridge app and after awhile we'll get used to spy chips in our homes and won't give it a second thought. The pilot uses will be in the fridges that have touchscreen computers in the door, fridges that now have cameras inside so you can use your smart phone to see which items to shop for on the way home, or to generate recipes using what you already have. Customized food commercials will eventually be an everyday thing, just like the discriminate political commercials mentioned in the post above. The next phase will promote the use of readers and cameras in pantries and cupboards to inventory non-refrigerated foods, ka ching for the manufacturers of those devices and, again, it's really about your convenience. *wink wink* It sounds like a cross between The Jetsons and 1984's Big Brother but it's already here and gaining popularity. Also found under this umbrella are the apps used to remotely control lights, ceiling fans, door locks and burglar alarms in your home or business. I read about a criminal case where the defendant's grocery store loyalty card was scanned in his wallet when he walked into and out of the store and, in addition to other evidence, helped to provide reasonable doubt that he was at the scene of the no-witnesses crime: not guilty verdict. RFIDs are embedded in tires, use your imagination. If there's a reader nearby, where was your vehicle parked on a certain date at a certain time? It's sort of like CCTV. If it's being used in the area where you're at, gotcha. CCTV films you and an RFID reader verifies your presence. RFID currently can't be read/scanned at highway speed but that will happen, given enough time and improved technology. If the tires on your vehicle travel too quickly from one roadside reader to another, automatic speeding ticket. These are also the chips implanted in pets and livestock and the shoes worn by those with Alzheimer's and dementia; the frequency of each chip can be registered like a vehicle. (RFID bounces from a reader/GPS triangulates via cellular networks). Anyway, the post above reminded me of this fascinating and frightening concept.

Season 10 Spoilers, Speculation and Social Media
suomi replied to Galloway Cave's topic in Sister Wives
I hope bio dad has never seen/heard of this photo because if he has I bet it hurts. Deeply. Jeez, is the original displayed in his home or his parents home and have the kids seen it? Counseling, indeed. -

And added a snowy white shirt cuff generously peeking from the sleeve of the jacket. (Bio dad lacked a shirt cuff). Maybe he wore a short-sleeved shirt under his jacket - the horror! Are shirts with long sleeves are the preferred LDS attire for formal portraits? Missionaries can wear short sleeves. And they gave Kody the hair he wishes he had/maybe used to have and a hairstyle Robyn prefers to his surfer look. I guess he also wore glasses back in his heyday so this will mesh with other photos of that era. They thought of everything! Roses and violins! I think creating this photo is one of the strangest things I've ever seen. I mean, who does that? Small favors - at least it wasn't a photoshop hatchet job. -

Meanwhile, cynical me was sure that the thumbs up was added to co-sign how wonderful Kody is. ("Just do it, honey, and when you're older I'll explain the meaning of health insurance and first wife.") -
I like Nicolle's relaxed/lower voice but, IA, it does change when she's excited or wound up. She also speaks a little too rapidly for my old ears to catch everything she says but, wow, she is well-spoken and organizes her thoughts and has a great vocabulary. These old ears are especially sensitive to female voices that are pitched too high, usually when they're asking "someone" an "important question." I think speaking in a lower voice is much more effective during an interview. (Kasie Hunt/MSNBC also does high-voice questions and it ruins her interviews for me). IA that Nicolle would benefit from some vocal training but I'll take what I can get. She is much too good for this show and looking back now it seems that she wasn't being/wasn't allowed to be (?) her truer self. I guess they hired her to fill a niche and wanted her to stay there. How did I not know that the half-a-brain thing is RL's slogan? Mea Culpa.

Live With Kelly And Mark - General Discussion
suomi replied to Shermie's topic in Live With Kelly And Mark
It's a cool trait when your family has it. My mom sounded like her aunt/my great aunt on the phone. They never tired of calling me and fooling me for a few minutes. That aunt was a PBX operator for many years and it was cool to walk through the hospital to meet her for lunch and hear my mom overhead when it was really Aunt Lucille. My bro always said that I creeped him out on the phone because I sounded just like our mom. He also heard it when we used the PA system at the triathlon he founded. His son/my nephew sounds just like his dad on the phone which is bittersweet now because my bro recently died, and that nephew tells me I sound like his gramma on the phone. Sorta weird that all of the resemblances are described as "just like" and are heard on the phone/an artificial system but not in person. And all of us say that the resemblance is most pronounced when the person on the phone is laughing. Science, bitch! (Jesse Pinkman) All of Kelly's kids seem like nice people with good manners. For all the stuff that bugs me about her from time to time, it seems that she and Mark (and their extended family, most likely) have done a good job raising them. I would bet that they are old school parents. The kids are at the age to be partying and raising hell and appearing in the tabloids and there's never been any of that. Which is quite an accomplishment in this day and age. -
Did you know that there's a photo of Mariah in the dictionary? Look up "pretentious."

Robyn Brown: She wanted the family, but got stuck with the man.
suomi replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
A bouquet like that costs a bundle from a florist and is easily available in grocery store floral departments for a half or a third less. Will their special someones be getting nice things after the income from the show poofs? Maybe they're investing wisely, because the future. LOL -
To each their own, I realize that, but what a stoopid way to spend money.

With half of her brain tied behind her back.

Will we see a chastened NutMeg today? Because, given the amount of promo and her highly inflated opinion of her ability and experience, her participation and her performance last night were underwhelming.
-
Aaaand the live audience show following, as Steve Schmidt reminded, the election of 75 veterans of our Middle East wars ended with schlock. (I say that as someone who paid to see Carole King in concert with James Taylor). Hip, slick and cool Mika in belted hip-huggers stood for an extended time with her legs crossed. Aha, I thought, that explains the hair this morning. FFS when does an adult female stand with crossed legs? When she's posing on a red carpet or a runway, that"s when. LOL that she underestimated her ability to hold the pose and had to sling an arm across Joey's shoulders to balance herself. Such a fitting coda to her chirping "Kamala Harris" earlier. The anemic audience sing-and-clap-along was painful. Heilemann is so tall and CK so petite that he towered over her upraised arm as she ended the song. He is one long drink of water. (6'5")

Heh, I hope Dr P's response to the bolded is "How's that workin' for ya?"
-
Ouch! Now we know the stage manager's opinion of her value (and that she isn't following his direction).

Blue cards are useless tonight, too many variables and unforeseens will be in play. A laptop is the only reliable way someone/her husband can coach and prompt her. 'cause her own brainpower ain't up to the task.

Holy wow, ABC has 17 talking heads at 4 separate desks. If NutMeg has pundinted I missed it. Just spotted Ahbby, didn't catch what she said, a couple sentences and she was gone. How can a field of 17 not greatly dilute each one's opportunities to contribute? Even tho I was looking forward to it, not sticking around for this ...

I started the festivities by watching the delightful team of Williams, Maddow, Wallace, Robinson and Matthews. All voices are modulated, all are well-spoken, they don't interrupt or speak over each other, they don't hog the camera. They inhabit a world Joe and Mika do not fit into, not in their wildest dreams. It is entirely appropriate that they are not sitting at the adult table. Karma! The sun is well over the yardarm and surely Scoop and her liege have transitioned from day drinking to bitter drinking. Cheers! I wonder if they use MJ's early:30 slot to justify their exclusion from the biggest political event in 2 years? Because everyone knows how dedicated they are to appearing on their own show every day. Snort.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. ;) I hope that she will be revealed as a buffoon to a much larger audience than The View draws.

Hardball With Chris Matthews - General Discussion
suomi replied to Lisin's topic in Hardball With Chris Matthews
I didn't see it. Dang, because I've always liked her. Disoriented as in uninformed, or possibly demented? (Given her age). What was your impression? TIA -
Idioms! That's the word I was looking for. Thank you!

She is so unfamiliar with context and syntax that it probably went right over her head. If it registered at all, she wondered what Joy was babbling about and why She Was Being Interrupted.
