The following is in response to a post in the Social Media thread... JH has not used the term "soul mates" in any interviews that I've read to date. She also mentioned developing a "fondness for Curtis," but no mention of Diggle at all. I find that curious, considering we just watched two episodes of Tinah bonding with Diggle. -- JH: "I think she feels close to different team members for different reasons. In general, probably Oliver because he was the one who she opened up to first, and they share such a similar background with so much pain. They’ve had so many years of difficulty. I also think that the team is really bringing out her humanness, especially Curtis. As the episodes progress, she starts to develop a fondness for Curtis because he’s so different from her. He’s unintentionally light and funny, and I think she’s drawn to that, as well." Tinah being so similar to Oliver. Curtis bringing out her humanness. Tinah being drawn to Curtis' light/funny. Doesn't this sound just like the Oliver/Felicity dynamic from S1-S2, except without the sexual undertones?

I just realized that the difference between past seasons of Arrow and this season of Arrow is kinda similar to the difference between the Marvel cinematic universe and the DC cinematic universe... The Marvel cinematic universe introduced characters one at a time and developed their relationships slowly over time. Therefore, we felt and believed the emotional connections when the Avengers finally fought together - and then fought against each other. The DC cinematic universe is throwing different characters at us all at once and onto the same team quickly, before we've gotten to know them individually.

I still find it inexplicable that Oliver trusts Tinah so much after only knowing her for about a month. He barely vetted her - one phone call to the CCPD captain and a cursory background check that didn't even turn up her real name. After Evelyn, you'd think he'd be more careful. Same goes for Susan (ditto to everything that's already been said about her).* (* Same for Samantha last season, who Oliver introduced to the Arrowcave and his entire team, just because she was the mother of his son, and despite both the 10-year passage of time and her proven history of deception.) There's optimism and there's blind ignorance. I really hope that both of these characters are revealed to be working with Prometheus, although I realize it's more likely with Susan than with Tinah (the best evah sidekick).

I just read an article where the writer speculated about what might happen after this season. He wished that this season would end with Oliver having to leave Star City and start over elsewhere, specifically that he and Tinah together would relocate to a different city; thus, S6 would launch a new story and a new romance, "finally giving Arrow fans a true Green Arrow/Black Canary relationship." Excuse me, while I go vomit a little.

So I guess we're not going to see alternate Earth versions of Oliver, Felicity or Diggle any time soon... This is in response to a discussion that started in the Social Media thread... About a year ago, the show's ratings dropped significantly after 415.* IMO, that drop could've been attributed to a perfect storm of factors, including the BMD/Olicity breakup. Subsequently, the EPs must've discussed why it happened. They might've also reacted to a very vocal minority's hate mail/social media posts (just like they did to hate mail about Sara in S2). We don't know. All we know is that we got this version of the show in S5, where the EPs course-corrected a few elements but screwed up other, major elements. (* I think that S4A and S4B need to be treated separately, using 415 as the demarcation point. S4 debuted with high ratings. IIRC, S4A was generally well-received and maintained good ratings, with the only common complaint being that there was too much set-up for LoT. It was S4B that drew major complaints from all over the fandom and media.) If I think the show is going in the wrong direction, then having the ratings drop is like confirmation that I'm not alone in that thought. I'm not happy or gloating about it, but sad for the show. (I'm still watching for the few characters that I do like.) However, I'm also hoping that the ratings drop will compel the EPs to take a good look at what they're doing. Of course, they may again make changes that I don't like or agree with, or they may do nothing to change their current plans. Or, they may again misinterpret the reason(s) for the ratings decline and make worse changes. For example, here's a scary stat that the EPs could easily misinterpret: the three highest rated episodes of this current season so far were all directed by Bamford (501, 502 and 508). Bottom line, though, I think that any changes made in response to the even lower ratings won't be reflected this season, but next season.
