Every time either Norrie or Rebecca starts speaking now, I just want to slap their faces. Then there's Julia with her reactive self-righteousness. How did Rebecca even come up with her "only 75%" of the Chester Mills population can survive on the available resources. If resources are really dwindling, then wouldn't that percentage slowly dwindle as well until you're down to maybe 1% and then zero? Also, why should Big Jim be the one to decide who lives and who dies? It's interesting that the ones who decide to "thin the herd" are never themselves the ones who get thinned - it's always someone else who's expendable. If you're truly being cold and calculated, the most useless ones are the children and babies. It's not like they need to repopulate the earth - there's plenty of people living outside the Dome. But of course, they'll be weeding out adults that Big Jim and Rebecca deem 'useless'. I know there are a few good actors on this show. But something about this show makes them all come across like bad actors. Even the background music is like the background music for a cheesy B-movie.

Spoilers and Speculation

I know that the EPs want to stay in relatively real time so that's why there's a 5-month time lapse between Season 2 and Season 3. But it's a fictional TV show and they could've chosen to pick up right after they left Season 2. Therefore, I can't help worrying that the main reason for that time lapse is to come back with a significantly improved fighting Laurel.

I still don't believe that the EPs always planned to bring Sara back from the dead. I do think they always planned to have two Black Canaries (their persistent insistence that every superhero character would not be the original). The idea that the original Canary would be Sara probably came up sometime in Season 1 before they realized or were forced to realize the stupidity of the sister-swapping. Regardless of the contrived nature of Oliver losing his money, one positive thing to result is to make Oliver and Felicity more 'equal'. When they met, Felicity was a lowly IT employee and Oliver was her ultimate billionaire boss at QC. During Season 2, she slowly became more of his partner in terms of Team Arrow and crime fighting but, at work, he was still her boss. If Oliver is now 'poor' (relatively speaking) and no longer her boss, then they are more on the same level. Same with Diggle - even if being Oliver Queen's "black driver" was a cover, there was still that employer-employee relationship. Now they're more equal in every way as well.

Actually, I've seen EAs in large. high-powered firms dress pretty fashionably (not that differently from Felicity). Also, Felicity . But I can give a handwave to the way all the women are dressed on Arrow. It's the CW after all. More significant is the way the show has screwed up some character development.

Again, unless Laurel has a trust fund, she's living on a government job salary and, before that, on a nonprofit law job salary, so where's the money coming from for her designer duds? At least Rachel Dawes in the Batman movies looked and dressed the part, and those movies had a much bigger budget. Laurel often looks and dresses like she should be on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Personally, I think the EPs lied about always planning to bring Sara back. Otherwise, why cast a different actress to play Sara in the initial flashback scene of Sara getting swept away? Then they had to reshoot that scene with CL. But if they didn't lie, then it makes it all worse.

I can't stand Sarah, Lenny and Loreal because they just seem so fake to me - almost overdone stereotypes. I also get distracted by how much Sarah reminds me of the character Harmony from the Buffy/Angel tv shows.

Whoever came up with and approved the Lexi storyline should be fired. Why is the Mason family so special? Tom gets to stop the group's flight to go off and rescue his son. Yet no one else gets to go off on their own and rescue their loved ones while the rest of the group waits in a dangerous area. And he only rescues Matt. What about all the other children? And of course, Matt's young girlfriend stays to provide a distraction because we can't have another regular added to the main group. So heroic Tom leaves behind a child to save himself and his son. Also, when Tom and Weaver leave, young Hal is left in charge. Aren't there older, more experienced people that could've been left in charge? If Tom, Hal and Weaver go off and leave the group in the future, is Matt going to be left in charge?

I agree that there's a male fantasy element to the sister-swapping on Arrow. Hey, we live in a society where reality shows about polygamy (Sister Wives) are popular - granted, not real sisters but multiple wives catering to one man. But I think it was originally done just to be another obstacle to Oliver/Laurel "true love". Otherwise, Oliver returns from the dead and has a joyful reunion with his girlfriend Laurel - the interim hook-up with Tommy easily understood and gotten past (see The Walking Dead). I think they originally planned to leave Sara dead. Then, for some reason they decided to bring in another actress as Black Canary and made her Sara Lance. If Sara had stayed dead, then, yes, there would be an 'ick' factor but it would've been consistent with pre-island jerk Oliver. However, now since Oliver again hooked up with Sara post-island, it's really unforgivable for the new Oliver to be sister-swapping.

What the actor or actress wants in terms of hair color and clothing preference should be irrelevant. They're hired to portray a character and serve a story. It's the director's or producer's vision of the show that should determine how that character looks and dresses. If a character changes hair style or color, or dresses a certain way, there should be some character-driven or story-driven motivation for it. Maybe Laurel's motivation is that she wants a new hair color to show her new outlook on life after 'overcoming her drug/alcohol addiction', getting past the personal drama, and surviving a life-threatening situation? However, if my loved sister had left town to be an assassin and my father had been seriously injured, and my city had been nearly destroyed, I'd be more worried about them and about rebuilding the city, and less worried about my looks. I certainly wouldn't be going out and getting blonde highlights for my hair - even five months later.

This is pretty funny. A Huffington Post blogger posted an article in which he identified famous people who he he thinks are probably aliens, including Stephen Amell, in honor of World UFO Day: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/hulucom/were-pretty-sure-these-fa_b_5549400.html

I think the EPs envisioned Laurel as a brunette when the show started and that's why KC dyed her hair brown. Since we've had a brunette Laurel for two years, what's the character's motivation for becoming a blonde? My sister left to become an assassin again, my father was seriously injured - I think I'll dye my hair blonde. KC can't have been happy with the Season 2 cast poster where she was relegated to the background. I think the Season 3 cast poster (whenever it comes out) will be very telling as to how much 'weight' she actually has on the show...

Tommy's journey would've made a great storyline, but the EPs probably wanted to avoid comparisons to other superhero stories (like Spiderman) as well as give Oliver a different motivation for Season 2. I would've preferred that they'd kill off Laurel, but too late now. Pre-island, Oliver and Tommy were both spoiled rich womanizers but - I suspect - Tommy had more depth then. Oliver was loved and indulged by both parents. Tommy had a dead mother and a vengeful, manipulative father - anyone who has Malcolm Merlyn as a father has to be screwed up. Tommy also was in love with his best friend's girlfriend, Laurel (hard as it is to believe), and always knew he was second choice when she finally got involved with him after Oliver 'died'. I would've loved to have seen the continuation or evolution of his friendship with Oliver and Tommy's own character after the Season 1 earthquake and Oliver's having sex with Laurel. I would've also loved to have seen Tommy finding out that Thea was his sister and his building a sibling relationship with her. Great potential for the Tommy character who's been beautifully portrayed by a good actor.

Looking at the upcoming panel lists for SDCC 2014 has made me excited for all of the new superhero or superhero-related shows debuting next season. I'm looking forward to The Flash and Gotham, but am 'meh' on Constantine and some of the rest. But the one new show I'm most looking forward to seeing is Agent Carter. I loved the character of Peggy Carter and I also liked her One-Shot short video. It'll also be different from anything else on TV next season, starring a cool female action hero and taking place in the 1940's. I just hope they do a good job and don't screw it up like Agents of SHIELD.

The TV Guide Fan Favorites and Women Who Kick Ass panels are both scheduled for Saturday, 7/26. The official SDCC website doesn't provide complete panel lists so it's unknown yet whether anyone from Arrow will participate in either panel. http://www.comic-con.org/cci/saturday

I wasn't sure where to post this, since it relates to a new digital comic series that's a tie-in to The Flash TV show: http://www.tvguide.com/News/DC-Arrow-Comics-1084098.aspx The comic series will feature the entire TV cast and also give more Barry Allen backstory.

Moved to Media thread...

I just posted a linked TV Guide article in the Green Arrow in Comics thread about how they're doing an Arrow digital comic series (again) to tell us what happens between Season 2 and Season 3. They will also introduce new characters in this comic series that will turn up in Season 3. I hate that they're doing this. I want to see what happened during that 5-month time period on my TV screen.

I wasn't sure whether to post here or in the Spoilers thread... http://www.tvguide.com/News/DC-Arrow-Comics-1084098.aspx DC Entertainment is bringing back the Arrow digital comic series:

I just noticed from that linked Variety article that Arrow cast members might also appear on July 26th at the following panel:

The TPTB love to tease fans. I can see them unveiling a brief video clip or a picture at SDCC of a masked blonde in a new Black Canary costume fighting, causing the audience to cheer and applaud because they think Sara is returning - then they reveal her to be Laurel! Or, they'll show a very short clip of Oliver making breakfast in a kitchen, Felicity enters and she's wearing her nightwear. You think it's the morning after their date - but it turns out Oliver's been crashing at her place because he has no home and Diggle has a pregnant Lyla staying with him. TPTB love to mislead.

The Emmys are infamous for nominating the same old shows and stars year after year. Once in a while, they get overpraised for letting in an edgy new show and then that show gets nominated year after year. Let's face it, a lot of these Hollywood awards shows are political too - who you know, who you are. The Emmy voters also have their favorites. If Orphan Black starred Juliana Margulies (instead of unknown Tatiana Maslany), Juliana would've been nominated the first year.
