Another in-depth analysis from jbuffyangel (agree or disagree, Jen certainly seems to put more thought into this show than the EPs)... There’s No Place Like Home: The Return Arrow 3x14 Review February 19, 2015 http://jbuffyangel.tumblr.com/post/111473343318/theres-no-place-like-home-the-return-arrow-3x14

Same dilemma as with the question of whether to watch the upcoming Ray/Atom-centric episode of Arrow (3x19?) - great ratings might be enough to give the green light on an Atom spin-off. But what if the ratings are not good enough for a spin-off, but good enough to convince the EPs to make Ray Palmer a regular cast member on Season 4?

Laurel Brown's photo recap of "The Return"... Arrow Recap: Photos and Sarcasm Go Well with The Return FEB 19 2015 Laurel Brown http://www.docbrowntv.com/arrow-recap-photos-sarcasm-go-well-return/ This is the second review I've read (I did not post the other one) in which the reviewer snarks about Felicity's appearance being contractually obligated now that she's a regular cast member, yet does not snark about Diggle's appearance also being contractually obligated. Nor do these reviewers mention that Laurel was completely absent from at least two entire episodes in the past, despite being a regular cast member.

I just posted in the Spoilers thread that AK retweeted the @TheAtomCW twitter account, so that seems to be verification it's genuine: https://twitter.com/TheAtomCW My guess is that they've set up a separate twitter account for the Atom to promote Ray's upcoming costumed debut on Arrow and to push for the spin-off (namely, build fan momentum, increase Ray's popularity, and pressure CW execs?).

Here we go again with the "justice" theme (attached to video promo of "Nanda Parbat") - they're clearly referring to the Atom as the "new face" of justice... https://twitter.com/CW_Arrow All these mentions of justice are leading up to something in the season finale, I can feel it: -- "I'm the justice that you can't run from." -- "Justice is the new black." -- "Justice has a new face in Starling City."

I'm losing interest in this show. That makes me bitter.

Maybe the Felicity flashback would've created more of a stir among surprised fans if MG hadn't posted the spoilers about her appearance in 3x14.
-
I believe that MG said on tumblr once that Felicity would still be on Arrow in Season 4. So make of that what you will.

Here's Dougherty's review of "The Return" (he liked it)... Arrow S3: E14 -- 'The Return' By Robert Dougherty February 19, 2015 08:38AM EST http://www.themovienetwork.com/review/arrow-s3-e14-return

Loved ones dying around Oliver makes me think of Legends of the Fall, that movie where everyone who loved Tristan (played by Brad Pitt) died while he lived to be an old man: "I thought Tristan would never live to be an old man. I was wrong about that. I was wrong about many things. It was those who loved him most who died young. He was a rock they broke themselves against however much he tried to protect them." I really hope that Arrow is not headed in that tragic direction where everyone who loves Oliver the most will die.

This EW article is more of a recap than a review... 'The Return' Arrow Ep. 14 | Aired Feb 18 BY CHANCELLOR AGARD Posted February 18 2015 — 8:09 AM EST http://www.ew.com/recap/arrow-season-3-episode-14 From now on, I'm going to be more selective about what reviews and articles I post. I'm only going to post stuff that I like or that I find interesting for some reason. I might also post stuff that is published by major media sites or linked by cast/producers. No more trying to be representative or comprehensive.

I think it's just about getting the brand name recognition out there. Oliver's nothing like the comics' Green Arrow either. I never read the comics. Although I had vaguely heard of the Green Arrow, I don't recall ever hearing about the Black Canary before the Arrow show. But I'm just speculating about the rush to make Laurel the BC, after they went to so much trouble to make Sara the (Black) Canary with such a great back story and giving her the comics to read.

It's clear that the EPs' agenda for season 3 is to promote DC comic superheroes and to push Diggle & Felicity back into supporting roles. This is consistent with what's happening in the DC comics universe where their characters have been dropped entirely from the reboot. It's curious, though, that DC sent copies of the BC comics to CL if CL was only supposed to be a placeholder for the BC. I'm speculating that perhaps DC liked CL as the BC but when the Arrow EPs decided to stick to their original plan of making Laurel the BC, DC told them to establish either Sara or Laurel as the BC, but to do it quickly because they planned to launch a solo BC comics book in 2015. All part of their plan to drive comic book sales. This new poll at SpoilerTV is interesting because it indicates that, at least among that site's viewers, most people were not driven by the TV shows to read the comics: USD POLL : Did you start reading the comic books before or after the arrival of Arrow and The Flash?
