PTV Review: "Of Teenage Love Heptagons and Genocide"
-
I wasn't really referring to the "by Re-Ron for Re-Ron" phrase, as that's pretty self-explanatory. We were talking about the strip tease on Friday's episode and the intimation that the headwriter wrote it for himself.

The show recently released the logo for S16. My initial response is: say what? It looks like someone doctored it up in MS Paint.

Your thread to discuss the highlights of season 16's live feeds. What highlights include: The winner of the latest HoH, PoV, etc.; The latest alliances and backstabbing; The current blowouts. What highlights do not include: X is doing his laundry; Y just picked his nose; Z is still sleeping. If you'd like to discuss the ramifications of the highlights, take it to THIS thread.

@testardo, I see comments like this often, and I wonder what the basis is for them. Has he said as such in interviews or is it simply that he's a gay man? Traditionally, the soap audience is made up of woman and gay men, so could it be he's trying to appeal to such an audience (even if, for some, it's misguided)? While no fan of Guza, he was also accused of hating women, etc., which never really flew with me. A writer is not his characters.

Just read the news from Us Weekly and, while I feel bad that her marriage is over, I'm kind of looking forward to Monday to see how the show handles it. I mean, they have to address it, right? I'll be tuning in. This'll probably be a great week for the show ratings wise, with it being Barbara's last and this news breaking. I do have to wonder what his justification is for requesting both physical and legal custody of their unborn child. I'm not sure what the law is in New York, but typically joint custody is presumed to be in the best interest of the child absent evidence that a parent is unfit. TMZ is saying that Lamar filed for divorce in California. I guess that makes sense. I thought they were NY residents since the show is taped in NYC, but I guess Sherri splits her time between the coasts. Does anyone know what the law is in CA?

Season 2 Wishlist: Teddy Ruxpin, Chucky, and a Cyndi Lauper Cameo?
Stinger97 replied to Stinger97's topic in The Goldbergs
I already hinted at it in the thread's title, but I would love for the show to tackle horror films. The 80s had a smorgasbord of slasher films (Child's Play, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc.), so I'd love to see a story based around that. -
Which is why I found it so odd that she was ballsy enough to threaten to tell the cops the truth. Like, Shawn could literally put a bullet in her anytime the inclination comes over him, so I wasn't really sure how her threats mattered. Shawn tells Sonny what Ava's threatening, Sonny gives the word and, provided Shawn actually shoots her and doesn't just talk about shooting her, she's rubbed out. At least, that's how real mafias work (or so The Sopranos told me).

I'm no fan of Laurel OR Jordan, and I'm sure someone like @Lantern7 could prove me wrong with his data, but Johnny always seemed to coast to finals. He had always had his powerful alliance and would pick off the weaker players or those that failed to establish alliances. That's not to say that Johnny isn't strong or a worthy competitor, but he always was very successful in avoiding eliminations, which is where Jordan's comment about Johnny earning his stripes comes from. Or maybe I'm wrong.

Too much or just enough? Because I could love Bellamy being strung up by James Garfield, or Finn stabbed (again) by John Adams.

Is this the Nurses' Ball or a talent show at the local nursing home? Eddie Maine and Luke Spencer? Although, at least AG was actually singing "live" and not lip syncing over a prerecorded track. That goes a long way in cutting down some of the cheesiness. Kiki performing a Pink song was a combination of some of my least favorite things: Kiki and Pink. And all those balloons? I thought I was watching a child play in a McDonald's (Nurses'?) ball pit. Magic Milo & The Wands? Whoever choreographed the number needs to be shot, but it still worked for me.

Dwyer Derrig: Does She Ever Make Her Own Meals?
Stinger97 replied to Stinger97's topic in Barefoot Contessa
Guess which episode is on this afternoon? "Comfort & Company," featuring Dwyer, Chinese food, and Ina's company pot roast recipe. Gah! -
This was one time that I didn't mind product placement, and I thought it was well done. It was certainly better than the OnStar and Campbell's Soup product placements the show's done in the past.

"That was so 'disintegreous!'" When that came out of Devyn's mouth, I about died. Not sorry to see Jasmine go, but disappointed she couldn't send Laurel home. I wish the eliminations weren't always so physical. Aside from the Nia/Cara Maria matchup, the larger competitor typically sticks around. There's no way someone like Zach goes home unless he goes up against someone like CT. So, yea, snore. Bananas' comment about Jordan's hand was uncalled for, though it seemed like no one (including Jordan) minded. Still, I can't imagine making light of someone who is missing a body part.

Ratings & Scheduling: The 100... People Watching
Stinger97 replied to Stinger97's topic in The 100 [V]
The show was renewed for Season 2. Get ready for even more animals with two faces, farts clouds, and Ark drama. -
Just a quick thought: are these kids using protection when they sleep together? Did the Ark have its own Trojan factory and did the kids take a couple boxes with them? Because otherwise, we could have babies on the way from either Clarke or Raven or, if the show wants to go all out, from both of them.
-
Such an odd episode, which I guess makes sense considering everyone was tripping. Raven and Finn boning even though he still has a fairly fresh stab wound in his side was... interesting. I wasn't thrilled to see Raven throwing herself at Finn because she's afraid to lose him to Clarke. The dude cheated on you and he still seems to be harboring some feelings for the other woman (no matter what he claims), so find someone else to shack up with. Or better yet, stay focused on surviving and take some time off from the dating scene? Octavia and Lincoln sharing a kiss seems to put to rest the theory that they're related. Octavia, like Raven, was a little obnoxious in throwing herself at a man. When she said something along the lines of, "This is all my fault. I shouldn't have reacted so badly to your locking me up in that cave," I rolled my eyes hard. Like, what? It's your fault that you didn't appreciate being chained up by a stranger? I missed the end, though I did see Diana have the Arrested Dude's wrists slashed. Am I right in assuming that she was part of the assassination plan of the Chancellor?

Dwyer Derrig: Does She Ever Make Her Own Meals?
Stinger97 replied to Stinger97's topic in Barefoot Contessa
I'm sure she's a nice woman, but there's just something about her. I grew up on Long Island and while in school, I worked for a ferry company for about 6 years as a valet, and she reminds me of every snooty wealthy Hamptons woman I ever dealt with. Maybe I'm being irrational. -
I mean, she probably does cook for herself and her family, but I think I've seen that episode in which Ina makes a bunch of food for some occasion (recipe testing?) and then offers the meal to Dwyer and her family. Dwyer, making sure to stay on Ina's good side, buys Ina General Tso's chicken for dinner. I cannot stand the episode or Dwyer, yet I always watch it to completion. They're showing an episode in which Ina cooks an entire Greek spread (spanokopita, tzatziki, lamb kabobs, etc.) to bring over to her friends, the Greenwalds, for a party, and all Dwyer brings is a fruit salad. And that shouldn't bother me but it does. Because it's Dwyer. (I think I just really dislike her name.)

Thomas "TR" Pescod: Ina's Sexy Former Employee
Stinger97 replied to Stinger97's topic in Barefoot Contessa
The last episode I remember seeing TR in, Ina was making fish and chips to take down to TR's new house down by the water. The two of them shared the meal out on the pier. It was a small house and didn't look like much, but I've no doubt that it cost him a pretty penny being 1. on the water and 2. in the Hamptons. -
I too cracked up when she said his head popped right off. Beverly's stories reminded me of an aunt of mine, who had a friend who died of pretty much every illness known to man. You could mention that your toe hurt and, without fail, she knew someone who died from it. It got to the point that it became a running joke in our family that all her friends were dead. Another adorable, well-written episode. I look forward to S2 and its new timeslot on Wednesday nights @ 8:30. If the show keeps up this quality of writing, I expect it becomes ABC's next breakout comedy, if not just a solid performer.
