That, @spaceytraci1208, and Teresa saying she was "fustrated," drove me crazy.
-
Likely, disliking her "because she's an only child" is a proxy for not liking her entitled, selfish attitude. Wasn't it Cara Maria who, at some point last season, was by herself on the beach drawing in the sand or just acting plain strange, and everyone pointed out that it was simply a ploy for attention? I think that represents CM's personality perfectly... she does things so that she's the center of attention. And she whines and cries when she doesn't get her way. That's not to say that these characteristics are unique to her -- all the folks on this show are attention whores/crybabies to some extent -- but I think there's something about the way CM combines and exhibits these traits that doesn't help endear her to folks.

I'm no fan of Cara Maria. In fact, I think the only reason I find her tolerable is because she hates Johnny almost as much as I do. However, I do have to commend her for sending a handful of girls home. It took a lot of strength and a lot of heart, and she should be proud. That said, I can't stand idiots who would endanger their health to continue to compete in an MTV Reality Competition. Like, wouldn't you rather keep the use of your hand rather than risk it for the chance at winning something like $85k after taxes? Go home, you twit! Similarly, I hate folks that encourage this behavior. TJ being all impressed at Cara's stupidity (no doubt a result of his own very apparent stupidity) had me rolling my eyes. This ain't the Olympics.

Unspoiled Spec: "$40k, someone long dead is resurrected."

Except Fluke was set on killing Alexis at the lake house before TJ showed up and ruined his plan. There's no way I would buy that Stefan would ever consider killing his dear Natasha. -
Presumably, when the world "ended," the Mt. Weathermen didn't need to steal Starry Night from the MoMA. I would assume that it was abandoned because it was of no real use anymore.

Ratings for the Week of 6/2 - 6/6 (courtesy SON):

To be fair, the show has never shied away from shocking deaths, from Charlotte to Wells. I do think they have the balls to kill off main characters, even if the audience may deem them to be "favorites."

Here's the thing... I had so many questions. Where did Bellamy and the crew get little figurines to map out their plan for the taking on the Grounders? How did it appear that The 100 were walking for a while, and then instantly wound up back at camp once that blonde kid took a sharp object to the face? Why did everyone around The 100 ship get vaporized instantly, and then we're presented a shot of a man simply on fire? I could go on and on. But, you know what? I enjoyed it. I liked the twist that the "Mountain Men" aren't some backwoods animals, but are dudes from Mount Weather sporting some advanced weaponry. I'm looking forward to S2 and how long it'll take Abby to find out Clarke's being held captive with the rest of The 100 (and Anya). And maybe Octavia and Lincoln will start their own little Grounder/100 family!

Isn't Sabrina a "character of color"? She's around so much some people even hate her.

What is an "Enduro"? -
I kinda guffawed at that as well. But then I thought that knowing Jordan had been arrested (and possibly compromised), Fluke might have put a tail on her to keep tabs on her. But then she said she'd been in DC chatting with her superiors, and there she is in the public park seated right behind the PCPD Commissioner, and my brain exploded trying to figure out a way to explain away the inconsistency. I know I should probably hate Ava. I know that I should probably be rooting for her to get tossed face first off the roof of Sonny's house, but I was a little bit sad today when she and Morgan couldn't simply go live in her penthouse like they used to. I can't stop rooting for this very odd, very dysfunctional couple in spite of myself. She's way too old for him. He's the spawn of Sonny. And yet I want to see them together. Someone shoot me. I thought MSt was effective in her scenes with her on-screen brother. I believed her sadness at having missed seeing her "brother" grow up. That said, I found the scene(s?) with Kiki, Silas, and Nina incredibly awkward. Silas just revealed Kiki to be his daughter and Nina starts talking about how she lost her own child and how sad she is that Silas reproduced with Ava, and Kiki's just standing there like, "...uhhhhh." To be fair, that's her typical expression, but it was magnified 10x today.

Thomas "TR" Pescod: Ina's Sexy Former Employee

That's the house. I remember that kitchen from the episode. -
The episode worked for me, although I thought there was a little too much tension between the core three. Lee Pace was quite literally tearing up the scenery in all his scenes. Joe in the going-out-of-business electronics store just felt odd. And didn't the clerk say he was calling the police? I'm surprised Joe wasn't carted off. I enjoy Cameron. She's punk-y and unapologetic, and she's not afraid to call Joe or Gordon out on their shit. The montage of her flailing around in the mall dressing room got me to chuckle, as did her five-finger discount of those baseball tees. I also appreciate that she's in charge of her own sexuality and totally owns it. But I feel like that might be an unpopular opinion. Gordon still kind of strikes me as a huge fuddy duddy (reminiscent of Droopy Dog), but I guess you can't win em all. Maybe he'll evolve over the season.

Somewhere, Jennifer Aniston just shuddered. Levi's hair looks like it's been fried within an inch of its life. The only way I'd compare it to Jennifer Aniston's hair at any point in her career is if the only time she was ever photographed was minutes after she'd stuck her finger in an electrical socket.

Not to be a hypocrite (which means I'm about to be a hypocrite), but let's keep this thread about episode discussion and not the Daytime Emmys or whether GH is going to be cancelled in a year. However, please feel free to create threads on those subjects and I can move the posts to their appropriate threads! And with that, I'll keep my mouth shut about the Emmys! ;)
-
Except GH won a number of Best Drama Emmys during Guza's tenure which was a very dark time in GH's history according to a lot of folks. In fact, I remember a lot of people deriding the Emmy folks for rewarding GH with those Emmys even though the show had been devoured by violence at the hands of Sonny, Carly, Jason, et al. And that was at a time when the Daytime Emmys actually appeared to mean something. I think that can be found in the media thread.
-
Even though the first post doesn't indicate it, this thread is meant to be an off-topic catch-all. Feel free to talk about anything but the show.
-
Here's my thoughts on this: The Daytime Emmys have become an absolute joke. They're no longer broadcast on the Big 4, nor are they even broadcast on deep cable. Nope, they're now going to be streaming online. Why? Because no one wants to be saddled with them. Even Lifetime and Bravo passed on them. The Daytime Emmys are no longer the end-all, be-all in determining whether a soap has been successful over the previous year. That GH wasn't nominated for a Best Drama Series Emmy doesn't really indicate much to me.
-
Quite literally there's "a lot of spec" every season regarding ABC replacing GH. And while I don't doubt the subject of canceling the show has been broached by ABC execs over the years, the ratings are up year over year. Whether Frank and Ron have been "coasting" is certainly a matter of opinion, it's also a steady job and one that I'm sure pays relatively well. I'm sure they're putting out the best show they think they can every day, even if that's not everyone's cup of tea (oftentimes it's not even mine).

Except Tyra's talk show is syndicated and is likely going to take the spot left open by Katie Couric's failed talk show.

Just a reminder: this thread is generally only for episode discussion. If you'd like to discuss the history of some application and what system it did or did not run on, create a thread about old tech and take it there. Stay on topic, please.

How's that? -
Not much to comment on today other than that Tyler Christopher is looking very, very good. I thought he looked as if he dropped a few pounds and put on some muscle. I'm impressed.

Hi, y'all. I totally get it, but please keep your favorite quotes (even if you've modified them a touch) to the favorite quotes thread. Let's keep this thread strictly to episode discussion. Thanks.
